A one star review reflects an expensive disappointment with the Natural Energy Company. As part of a new build this company recommend and installed a 16kw Daikin Altherma h/p plus a Daikin air to air internal unit. We were advised that the h/p system would last 10/20 years, however despite regular servicing the system has lasted 8.5 years and is not economically viable to repair. All the companies invited to quote for a new system have advised that in their view the reason for the early breakdown is because the h/p is twice the capacity required for the size of the house. A new h/p system will cost around £14/15k.
I called the NEC to see what solution would be best to rectify the situation. After several attempts I spoke to David who advised that the recommendation was originally made as he believed it could get quite cold in our area and he would get back to me with a solution. That was four weeks ago and still no response. I can only presume that he realises that the original sizing was flawed and the solution is for a lower kw h/p.
I hope that those giving five star reviews have not done so prematurely.

Unfortunately our experience doesn't match the positive reviews of others, posting a fair review of our experience.

We contacted the company to carry out a solar installation on our property. Planned for an 8 panel installation and higher end solar battery and quoted just under £6900 - the most competitive we found in our area. We paid the deposit in late February with a scheduled install in June.

We received a call on April 3rd informing us that current events have pushed the costs up by £2000 - the company were willing to absorb £500 of this but would require to increase the cost by £1500 - essentially an increase of more than 20% after a signed contract.

The total cost would have remained competitive however a company willing to increase the price so significantly after a signed contract and deposit could give me little reassurance the price wouldn't increase further - they acknowledged this and did say themselves I can see why you don't trust a handshake when the contract hasn't been honoured.

Again in fairness they processed the refund of the deposit swiftly and all the staff were professional. I genuinely sympathise that times are difficult in the building and energy trade but would have hoped that a signed contract would be honoured - particularly as our install would have been complete had we not been on holiday on the first dates offered. I would also assume that the components were already purchased and they are pricing in future cost rises so the cost of our install.

We are now back on the hunt for a local installer but this experience has soured us on local businesses and may favour a larger company who can guarantee a price after a contract

We have extremely positive views of the Natural Energy Company, who installed a 7kW Vaillant air-source heat pump in our 1950s semi, replacing a gas boiler central heating system. Their work was completed to the highest standard, really meticulous attention to detail, all the way from planning (David Mclaren) to installation (Kevin, Paul and others). The workmanship was of the highest standard - is it a bit geeky to appreciate neat plumbing? I don't know, but the workmanship is a thing of beauty!! The team installing, Kevin and Paul were just fantastic - not only really high quality workmanship, and clear pride in the job they did, but thoughtful about minimising impact on us as we lived through the install.
The installation involved adding 5 new radiators, and replacing some 9mm piping with 15 mm. After 5 and a bit day's work, we have a house at a comfortable 21 degrees, with piping hot 50 degree water - fantastic. In summary, I have nothing but the highest praise for the company, the work done, and the way it was completed - thank you, NEC!

The Natural Energy Company recently installed our Daikin air-to-air heating system plus solar panels (ground-mounted) and Sigenergy battery system (3 phase). From the beginning of the process their quick and helpful responses to our queries made us comfortable that they were very knowledgeable and capable of understanding our requirements and the particular challenges of our property. They listened and proposed tailored solutions that would work for us.
There was good communication on when we could expect the works to begin and the installation itself was carried out very professionally and tidily. Great aftercare too in making sure the controls were all explained and follow ups to check everything was working well – which it has been! All paperwork (MCS certification, DNO notification etc) handled by them with no fuss.
We put our trust in the Natural Energy Company and are very happy with the outcome. Would highly recommend.

I have just used the Natural Energy Company to manage the installation of some Solar Panels. Firstly they are recommended by octopus and I can see why.
What a thoroughly professional, courteous and knowledgeable team. I felt safe in the knowledge they would do a fabulous job and they didn’t let me down.
Thankyou to everybody involved from the initial site visit, the office communications, the roofing team and finally the electricians that wired and tested everything. A shout out to Ryan and Jack the electrical team who were so exceptionally happy and helpful- an absolute credit to the company.

I chose the Natural Energy Company because of their considerable experience with Solar and Powerwall installations. They showed excellent communications and processes throughout the project.

The team were very professional and left a very tidy job inside and out. The lead engineer could not have been more helpful, we are very happy with the work.

Very professional company with a good knowledgeable team of installers whose workmanship was first class. Unfortunately some of the parts supplied by Valiant to integrate the wi fi with the main control system were incompatible and took some time sorting out with Valiant and Natural Energy. During this time however the system worked and I was able to get a good insight into how effective the system was going to be and can now monitor and control it via the app.

David convinced us that he could provide a system to heat two adjacent 200-year old buildings by running connecting pipes underneath stone steps that separated the two buildings would be “no problem”. Given a previous poor review about subcontractors doing the work, we asked specifically if he used subcontractors. When asked specifically about this, David promised that he only used his own staff. On the day of installation, 3 subcontractors arrived! They no longer work for him.

First a 7KW Daikin was recommended. Later a 7KW Vaillant is better. One working day before installation, this must be a 10 KW Vaillant (which he had in stock). When it arrived, it was twice the size of the one we agreed!

Next, it couldn’t be installed in the agreed place, but in a flower bed and not parallel to the house. The ASHP drains onto the concrete, 4” away from the soakaway hole.

Then the pipes couldn’t be run under the steps (no builder!), so they went over the steps (looks ridiculous!), especially with white trunking that can’t take weight! It cost £500 to sort but David refused to contribute. It took weeks to commission and even longer to get it registered and the app working.

Finally, we were misinformed that a maintenance contract (with his sister company) was required immediately for the warranty to be valid.

We visited Natural Green Energy and enquired about a new stove installation and a boiler replacement. Declan talked about the various options with us and explained everything very clearly. His product knowledge is excellent. The installation of both products was trouble free. The work is very neat and was carried out with care and efficiency. We are very satisfied with our experience. We would highly recommend Natural Green Energy.

Quick response with a comprehensive & competitive quotation to install a Tesla Powerwall. Richard came to do a site survey and patiently answered all my questions. Work to install the battery was carried out quickly and to a high standard (as expected as they are one of the very few Tesla-approved installers in North East Scotland). Communication and service pre & post sale and my overall experience with The Natural Energy has been excellent - highly recommended! I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Excellent communication and information from this company throughout the design and installation of the air source heat pump. Disruption was kept to a minimum, despite it being a fairly major job in this case (new pipework and radiators as well as the heat pump). How well air source heat pumps perform is very sensitive to the system design (i.e. how the heat pump is connected to the radiator system, sizing of radiators etc) and this is something that The Natural Energy Company did very well and took great care over - after a winter with the heat pump the running efficiencies are very good, and the house has been lovely and warm the whole time - and more comfortable than it was with the previous oil boiler.

Throughout a fairly protracted process in which we were looking for a large amount of information and support on processes and systems which were alien to us, and throughout delays for planning consent and funding applications, the Natural Energy Company were patient, helpful and consistently professional. As a company they are extremely positive to work with and offer a tailored experience based on your need and circumstances. There is huge merit in operating like this, and it sets them apart from many. I would never hesitate to recommend them to others looking to manage their energy requirements.

Great company who know what to do when it comes to ASHP and Solar Panels with a Tesla battery. Would recommend. Installed both an ASHP, Solar Panels with a Tesla battery. 12 months ago and with two warm winters. All works well, saves power and provides energy when we have grid outages.

A top-quality job from the planning stage through to completion. A great bunch of guys including scaffolders, installers and all at the Natural Energy Company!

Air Source Heat Pump Installation
Professional from start to finish. Installation done with minimum of fuss and disruption. Very neat job considering the tight confines of the space they had to work in. Storm Babet hit during the work and the team worked around it as best they could to progress with the install. System appears to be working well and we have a lovely warm house and hot water. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Natural Energy Company.

Despite all the doubts expressed in the media, the Air Source Heat Pump installed by the Natural Energy Company works well in my house (in Broughty Ferry).
A survey before any quotation established the size of the rooms, the insulation that was present, and the heat loss from each room. From this the size of the Heat Pump, and number and size of radiators required was derived. I did have to have new larger bore pipe work put in, but though this did add to the time required for installation, it was not as disruptive as I had feared. When the award of the government grant was confirmed, the Company were kind enough to fit me in almost immediately at the end of last September so that the work was done before the winter. I can adjust the heating in each room by thermostatic radiator valves. The heat pump itself is NOT noisy, and was installed at the back of my house in the position I had asked for.
When I had a warning alarm appear just before Christmas, the Company responded immediately, and came within an hour to fix a small problem that had occurred with the heating in the water cylinder - the space heating in the radiators was not affected.
Overall I am well pleased with my Heat Pump, and the Natural Energy Company!
