So Many Hidden Charges and a Scam
I booked a vehicle from Top Rent through Economycarrentals.com and was surprised how much cheaper their daily rentals were compared to other hire car companies at Riga Airport.
As soon as I arrived at the rental desk I was told that I would have to pay a car cleaning fee up front of €20 or pay a cleaning fee charge of €30 when I returned the car, if it was not exactly as clean inside and out when I returned it as it was when I picked it up.
A few days after returning it I received an invoice for €322 for damage to the vehicle. The damage was there when I picked the car up and was on the rental agreement, but they said that the "new damage" was a few centimetres away from that marked on the agreement.
This company is a total scam. Please do not use them.

Top rent tried to charge me over £500 for non-existent damage - very bad experience.
Did not provide receipts of the work and luckily I had taken pictures. My bank followed it up and they dropped the claim. Avoid.
Hidden charges
Bad experience unfortunately with a surcharge of € 30 for pick-up after office hours. If the client is made aware of that in advance, no problem. But on my voucher, the office hours indicated were 9 am until midnight, while upon arrival at the desk, the indicated office hours were 9 am - 10.01 pm. We arrived at the desk at 10.10 pm (mainly because of a rescheduled Ryanair flight moreover). I pointed out to the personnel that the office hours indicated on my prepaid voucher didn't correspond to the ones indicated at the desk and that we arrived just 9 minutes 'late' but that didn't change anything. We had to pay the € 30. Anyway, I'm not sure it was worth a bad review for them... I hope they'll do better next time in a providing client-friendly service.

TOPRENT RIGA: I rented a car in Germany, France, Spain, Estonia, but I have never encountered such a predatory attitude towards customers.I booked a Volkswagen Golf through Booking.Paid 297 euros for 6.5 days. TOP RENT immediately told me that Booking does not understand car rental issues.So I'll have to pay more.This made me wary and I decided not to give them my credit card.I paid 45 euros to leave Latvia for Estonia.200 euros booking via debit card.180 euros insurance. I was given a hybrid Toyota, not a Volkswagen Golf.This car didn't go straight at all.You constantly need to align the steering wheel to stay on the road.There is also no navigation. I arrived at the parking lot to return the car exactly on time, but the automatic gates did not open.I called the operator and after that the gate opened. There was a question about me being late, but the timing of my call closed the issue.I informed the operator that the car had half a tank of fuel left.The tank is 30 liters, so it is 15 liters. They charged me 51 euros for fuel.Three days later I received my 149 euros back. After that I blocked the debit card and got a new one.After 10 days, TOP RENT sent me a speeding ticket in Estonia.The time and place indicated there corresponded to my location, and I paid the fine. PESSIMA ESPERIENZA - MAI PIU'
Arrivi con volo in ritardo a Vilnius, sera. Chiamo perchè non si capiva dove andare. Così fuori dall'aeroporto c'è questo grande edificio. Finalmente arrivo lì e ci sono in coda due auto da ritirare. Una sola ragazza allo sportello. Un'ora e trenta minuti di coda, assurdo!! Ogni cliente aveva dei problemi gravi che richiedevano tempo... mai vista una cosa del genere, tutti gli sportelli delle altre compagnie senza coda... Quando finalmente tocca a me mi dice che avevo indicato il ritiro dell'auto alle 18,30 e ora erano tipo le 21 e quindi la mia auto l'avevano data via, perché devi ritirarla entro un'ora. PREMESSO CHE AVEVO GIA' INTERAMENTE PAGATO L'AUTO PER 12 GIORNI CON ANCHE COPERTURA TOTALE ASSICURATIVA. Ma loro passata un'ora danno via l'auto interamente pagata perché mi ha detto "non possono certo tenerla ferma" e così io ho dovuto pagare per avere un'auto di categoria superiore. NON TROVO AFFATTO CORRETTO QUESTO COMPORTAMENTO. Inoltre 45 euro per ogni frontiera che avrei attraversato, quindi altri 90 euro e inoltre 15 euro per il lavaggio dell'auto, oppure avrei dovuto lavarla io, sia fuori che dentro. Tutte queste cose mi sembrano da ladri, mai successa una cosa del genere. Per fortuna non ho avuto nessun problema serio altrimenti non oso immaginare. MAI PIU' - MAI PIU' con questa compagnia. Ero furiosa e amareggiata, iniziare la vacanza con i miei bambini, con cena saltata perché oramai era tutto chiuso e questa ragazza odiosa che pretendeva solo più soldi di quelli che avevo già pagato è stato un benvenuto in Lituania davvero sgradevole. Per noi è stato davvero un brutto ricordo che ha condizionato tutta l'impressione della Lituania. Non so quanto andare orgogliosi di un servizio del genere.... io mi vergognerei.
Very good with no ‘surprises’ afterwards
I always rent my car from TopRent, and it’s consistently a smooth, hassle-free experience! That reliability is the main reason I stick with them—unlike many other rental companies that can feel like the Wild West. The cars at toprent are always new, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Ļoti negatīva pieredze ar Toprent/Carviz, neiesaku. Pirmkārt, mašīna tika iznomāta ar nenomaksātiem sodiem, par ko viņiem kā nomas kompānijai būtu jābūt informētiem, kā rezultātā man sestdienas dienā Rīgas centrā tika uzlikts automašīnas bloķētājs, pagāja vairākas stundas, kamēr atrisināju problēmu. Otrkārt, atgriežoties jau mājās, saņēmu e-pastu, ka mašīnai ir 3 jauni bojājumi, par kuriem man tika no kreditkartes ierurēta ievērojama naudas summa. Neesmu arī pārliecināta, ka bojājumus izdarīju es, kuri bija tiešām mikroskopiski. Interesantākais ir tas, ka saņēmu pa e-pastu līgumu, kurā parādās, ka esmu iepazinisies ar bojājumiem, kaut gan automašīnu man neviens nepieņēma un atslēgas atstāju kastītē. Jāsaka, mistika!😀 Labi, ka biju rezervāciju veikusi caur brokeru kompāniju un viņu apdrošināsana man sedza radušos zaudējumus. Noteikti neiesaku šo kompāniju! Labāk samaksāt nedaudz vairāk, bet izvēlēties citu pakalpojumu sniedzēju.
The worst car rental experience ever
The worst car rental experience ever. I booked a car with Auto Europe. The voucher was clear of the price and what extra fees Toprent could add when collecting the car. But Toprent have great fantasy to add other compulsory fees. So we had to pay 30 Euros for collecting the car after 22.00. During booking was only stated "open 24/7". They know exact time for collecting car in booking so for sure that could have been added to the price in the booking process. And then they presented a redicolus "cleaning fee" of 20 Euros. So 50 euros added to the price when collecting the car. What to do just before midnight on an airport in a foreign country when you have already paid a lot of money, non refundable, to rent the car. You are their hostage. After rental they took 30 Euros cleaning fee. Not even the stated 20. Driving in Latvia makes cars dirty, the country is filled with sandy gravel roads, not possible to avoid. The photos they sent to proff the car was dirty shows a car that needed less than 5 minutes cleaning. The car was almost new but in the protocol when collecting the was a redicolus amount of damages stated, the most of them almost invisible without a magnifying glass. And impossible to inspect when collecting a car in the dark. Beware. This company are real scammers. And gives bad reputation to visit Latvia.
Avoid!
Rented a car from Vilnius Airport Rent a Car Top Rent. When making a reservation was shown amount I had to lay on arrival. Once arrived I had to pay an extra €100 although reservation said no deposit to be paid. Then was told car has to be returned in a clean state and was offered another “service” of cleaning the car for me. What a surprise when I got a car all dirty from the outside and inside! Crumbs on the back seat, no Screenwash filled and all car covered in pollen. You expect your cars to be returned in a clean state and yet you are giving us the dirty ones? Will never choose this company again.

Company to run from. I have booked the car by booking.com with full coverage. Arrived at place, they ask a deposit of 1200€. They tell me my visa card doesn’t work. I call my bank that there is no reason my card doesn’t worked. Their only solution: take another full insurance of 300€ and the joke is that we have to pay another 30€ if we don’t clean the car. In total this rental company has cost me 630€ for 11 days while I have booked a car for 300€ by booking. I have read a lot of similar stories so unfortunately I’m not the only one. So don’t book with them because at the end you pay double of what you’ve booked for.
