Great resource for small HR functions or teams who need outsourced benefits, payroll and HR compliance solutions.

TriNet makes HR tasks seamless and also provides many resources for educating its users on everything HR-related. Payroll, compliance, and benefits administration are simple when you have TriNet. Their customer service is excellent: a representative is just a chat away. If the issue can't be resolved in the chat (it usually is) then a case is created, with the problem being addressed and resolved very quickly.

TriNet has been a valuable partner for our organization, especially as a lean nonprofit team managing a wide range of responsibilities. One of the biggest benefits has been having payroll, benefits, and compliance centralized in one place. It has significantly reduced the administrative burden on our internal team and given us more confidence that we’re staying aligned with evolving requirements.

Their support team has truly stood out. We’ve had consistent access to knowledgeable, responsive professionals who take the time to understand our organization and provide clear, practical guidance. That level of customer service has made a meaningful difference, especially when navigating more complex or time-sensitive situations.

The platform itself is intuitive for day-to-day tasks, and having access to competitive benefits has been a meaningful advantage for our employees. While there is always a learning curve with any system, overall the time and stress saved by partnering with TriNet has been well worth it.

For organizations that don’t have large internal HR teams, TriNet provides both structure and support, allowing you to focus more on your core work while knowing the HR foundation is solid.

Reliable service. Customer service reps almost always available. Platform seems dated and apps could integrate new technology.

From an employee perspective, trinet does not have your best interest at heart. The 401k & HSA management banks or companies are just garbage. High fees, dead money, and overall just death by a thousand fees.

TriNet Representatives are always 100% professional. They are knowledgeable and promptly provide accurate information. There is never a follow-up call or chat needed for any inquiries. The training the Staff is provided clearly shines through.

I would be lost without their Management Team and all Supporting Staff.

TriNet is a reliable and supportive PEO. The payroll and leave specialists are top notch and help ensure you can support your employees to have a smooth experience.

Our company originally started with Zenefits, which was later acquired by TriNet. Unfortunately, the other reviews here are spot on. After the transition to TriNet, service levels declined significantly. It routinely takes months—no exaggeration, months—to receive a response to support emails. And when they finally do follow up, the lack of a proper ticketing system makes it nearly impossible to remember which issue they’re referring to.
We ultimately decided to switch to another payroll provider after TriNet attempted to significantly increase our annual costs.

I've got to agree with what everyone else is saying. TriNet is terrible. Every single thing you need to do requires a support ticket. Their fees are INSANELY expensive compared to virtually any other PEO. Their processing platform is not keeping up with the times and is outdated. Their reports are minimal at best and, again, many are blocked and you need a support ticket. Their fees go up every year, they just fired their CFO last year, and you're going to get hit with random "innovation fees" throughout the year that have no explanation. They control your pay dates and make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to move payroll processing dates.. for example they'll demand payroll be due on the final day of a pay period, despite having hourly employees who have barely started the day, and it's due by 10am. Any request to change that payroll processing date (because, you know, that's kind of illegal), is met with... "oh, sorry, the team says a week isn't enough advance notice". And no matter how many times you remind them HEY, we have HOURLY EMPLOYEES, we need payroll to be processed AFTER the pay period ENDS, they will continue to schedule and demand it that way... but only sometimes!!!... and it's not relevant to any holidays or weekends etc. It's just random. Sooo many road blocks, a VERY outdated processing system, very unfriendly user interface, they gatekeep nearly every permission in the entire system, and you don't have full access to your own company or employee data. The staff will pretty much always be passive aggressive or annoyed with your requests, and the layout is horrible. They're like the boss that nobody likes because they micromanage everything and don't give any of their staff a single ounce of autonomy, then get mad when the turnover rate is sky high.

We used TriNet for approximately one month in 2025. During onboarding, the services and capabilities represented to us were inconsistent with what was subsequently delivered, which led us to terminate them.
On February 1st, when it became clear that none of our employees had received their legally required 2025 Form W‑2s, we contacted TriNet for assistance. As of today, TriNet has continued to provide inconsistent explanations and has failed to furnish the W‑2 forms as mandated under federal law.
TriNet maintains that the documents are “available online,” yet they refuse to reinstate or activate individual employee access to the portal, making it impossible for our team to obtain their IRS‑required tax documents.
This failure has caused unnecessary delays and has hindered our employees’ ability to comply with federal filing deadlines.
Based on our experience, we strongly advise prospective clients to exercise caution and thoroughly verify TriNet’s claims and capabilities before entering into any agreement with them.

Archaic system that's behind the times. If you are an HR person thinking of Trinet, please skip and use a different system. We switched away from Trinet mid year, so I need to login one last time to get my W-2. It forces you to use a code, but the email does not arrive before the session expires, so I am effectively locked out of the system. I just want to download my W-2 and I can't login.

No one will answer your calls or requests. The worst company I dealt with over. Do yourself a break and never work with them.
