The letters are just templates that go in a cycle. Once you've had letters one through 5, you get letter 1 again.
I'd love to know what it's cost you in paper, ink and postage over the years.
The letters dont bother me 1 bit. I wish you'd waste even more money getting a warrant to enter my property and see i don't have a TV.
It amazes me there are people who actually watch it. And others who actually pay to consume their own mind programming. Ahahahah!

Genuinely dreadful. I have a license, that isn't the issue, but I wanted to contact them and have had multiple barriers and the worst kind of end when the system cut me off. I accept how many hate them, but this isn't about that, but basic connectivity and support. There isn't any.

I received a blood-red letter from TV Licensing addressed to the "Legal Occupier" of my new residence stating that "An Officer has been scheduled to visit my property to find out if a TV is being watched, recorded, or downloaded illegally". This despite the fact that I had updated my address at the tv licensing website over 2 weeks prior to receiving this nasty, intimidating letter. I wrote back to them and complained and asked for a goodwill gesture but they dug their heels in and said no. This company is the pits. If an individual stalked, hounded, threatened, bullied, and coerced another innocent victim the way that the bosses at tv licensing badger innocent TV viewers, that person would be dragged before a judge and jailed. Around half a million households cancelled their TV licence in 2024. It's not hard to see why.

My elderly mother called them to say she didn't need a TV licence, but because they greedily missed their £200 a year, they claimed they had the right to enter her private property to "check".
Unfortunately she got so scared that she was doing something wrong that she paid up just to get the gangsters off her back. (She does not have a TV or internet access!)
I never replied to their spam junk mail, and I didn't receive another threat. That should tell you.
Just look at their old advertising and propaganda on Coronation Street! Treated as a social leper worse than J Savile for not watching a box!
Once you contact them they know you are easily intimidated and will up their threat level.

Awful experience trying to renew with new address - I had technical issues online so the system said Iâd have to phone up, only for the phone line to redirect me to the website with no real person to speak to

what the most awful lot to deal with. the systems and processes they have are so bad its un real. took me an hour to change a DD, systems cut you out and even whats app keeps ending the chat. nearly cancelled for this reason alone

It's a shame zero stars doesn't exist as TV Licensing customer 'care' really deserve this! I changed the address of one of my two TV licences when we moved from the family home in September. However, today I received an email that had renewed the licence using the old postcode. Of course, absolutely impossible to speak to someone on the phone so 15 minutes to get through endless select 5 if ..etc but still ended up on a WhatsApp chat with a bot which it then took about 10 minutes of giving the same details to get past. And another 30 to give the information repeatedly to an agent,, in particular repeated my main message several times which was to change the name and address of the numbered licence to a new address in the name of my husband... The upshot of this was that then agent changed his name only and then said he had to ring up on another number to change the address as they could no longer deal with me as I was not now the named client ! I asked why she hadn't changed the address first but she just repeated that he now had to ring to change the address. I have cancelled the direct debit that I generally pay and they can now deal with my husband where I'm sure he will manage to waste their time in setting up the direct debit they want which is why I generally pay them. Just because they're a public service and have a monopoly shouldn't mean that they think they can just waste their customers time like this... But clearly they see the opportunity
TV Licensing Sending Threatening Letters
I have bought new property in Stanmore in November 2025, but renting my old house also in Stanmore.
I have received threatening letters at my rental address despite advising them that my TV License expires on 30/04/2026. They wanted to transfer to my new property. I explained my new home is being refurbished and does not have any TV's.
Despite this I have had at least three Letters. Their Departments do not communicate.
The last Letter late in February said they were investigating who owns the property and that I may be due a fine of £1000! Surely it is time now to cancel the TV License Fee? There is no independent ajudication or complaints regulator. The BBC Executive , then to the BBC Trust.

Well, I've now got my Roku HD streaming stick up and running and the app on my phone working well and I'm loving it I can assure you, what with great content that I really enjoy watching, unlike the steaming pile the BBC continually serves up for its annual £180 per year fee.
Somewhat new to streaming (I only had freeview previously) I can pay a couple of quid to actually watch something that appeals together with a tonne of free stuff too, unlike the 'take it or leave' approach doled out by the Beeb and it will be a 'leave it' when it comes to renewing my TV licence next month, as frankly, it's just not worth their outlandish fee any longer, and many others feel exact same due to a constant churn of repeats/re-runs especially around Christmas time.
The BBC is another broadcasting dinosaur that didn't move with the times, got stuck in a tar pit, and will go extinct pretty soon, and there won't won't be too many throwing it a lifeline to pull its fossilized remains out anytime soon.
Three hours on phone to cancel license and get a refund
Two and a quarter hours hanging on the phone that is not answered on two occasions. Two complaints and an email got me nowhere. Only way to cancel my license and get a refund is by phone. Finally on the third occasion phone was answered after 20 minutes and it took another 25 to go through the process. So three hours all told and still no refund yet.

The only reason its 2 stars is the lovley lady Alexandra who felt my frustration and was polite and listened. Unfortunatley, TV licences sending letters and harrassment txts stating im behind on my bill when my payment history shows otherwise. There is 31, 30, 28 days in a month in which you can make a payment of the bill. NOT WHEN YOU DECIDE...... People are struggling to pay bills and this company is harrassing said pple. And your going to increase the license!!!!!!! Definitley will be considering to no longer have a license and get rid of the TV.

My tv licence was due to be renewed on the 28th February 2025 but my tv broke so I decided not to renew it until I have bought a new tv so when I got paid at the end of march 2025 I bought a new one and decided to renew my licence at the beginning of April 2025 so I did but the tv licensing decided to back date my licence to the 28th February 2025 so I lost a month on my licence this year they decided the renew my tv licence on the 28th February and take the payment a month early it's going up from April 2026 to £180 it's a lot of money to pay to watch the same old crap

My partner and I are not using a TV, or steaming any program that requires a TV license.
