Passed my c+e from class c on the government bootcamp, very knowledgeable instructors.

The 5 stars on this review relate solely to the instructor(s) who appear at the very least to have a bit of a battle on their hands with the office management within Ulitma. There is a rather serious issue when it comes to foward planning and communication. The instructors are all very professional and more than happy to help anyone though I will say that.

My instructor Nick Truman is nothing short of an asset to any company that may possess him and should be protected at all costs. Patience and compassion are deeply routed within that guy. He really helps you build confidence and helps you break down anything that you may not understand, and will happily go over and over the same thing if you need until you are happy that you have a solid understanding, regardless of how minor it is, nothing is too much trouble and at no point did I have any reason to think the countless questions he's being asked was any trouble for him.

Just to clarify, I ended up missing a full training session and waiting for over 2 hours for my instructor to show up, which was due to Ultimas bad planning and complete lack of communication, but don't think this is where it ended, I ended up swapping vehicles and instructors twice, this didnt really bother me personally as Ant (instructor) is also a great guy but it may bother other people, but then trailers changed multiple times too, which I think is an issue when your preparing for a test, and you get 3 different sized trailers. one of which wasn't even up to test standard as it wasn't even loaded. I was going from C to C+E so i did have a fair amount of truck experience already and thankfully I passed my C+E test regardless of all that but this is solely down to Nick Truman and his training style, which in the 4 driving tests I've now passed I've never had an instructor who can relay info like Nick can. So thank you again, Nick.

Ultima - you have the foundation there to be one of the best there is and it gets knocked for what is, in reality, basic communication skills between your employees themselves and between Ultima HQ and it's students. Easily fixed so please fix it.

EDIT* Recieved a follow up call from Liam from Ultima today. As he wanted me to expand on the issues i had and thankfully didn't do the usual million excuses scenario and actually seemed to take on board what I said, which in my opinion is top tier. And said it would be looked into. So let's hope Liam sorts it out. And to just to clarify I would recommend Ultima to anyone wanting to up their skill set. Regardless of issues, they're way more down to earth and not robotic like a lot of training schools out there that has to be said.

Just passed my class 1 with Ultima training. All down to my excellent instructor Nick Truman. He’s very patient and knowledgeable with years of experience. Also big thanks to Dave who took me on a couple of lessons and got me through my 3A module. Would highly recommend.

Just passed my class 1 my instructor was Paul, Paul is a credit to the company very patient and is top class, only had 5 days with him and passed with flying colours, am absolutely over the moon with the way Paul taught me, again he is a credit to the company very patient

From the very first minute I stepped into the cab, Nick welcomed me with such warmth and made me feel completely at ease—what a fantastic way to start! The tuition he provided was absolutely first-class, delivered with exceptional thoroughness and in a way that was so easy to understand. Even on those tougher days when things didn’t go quite as planned, Nick was a constant source of encouragement, always there to reassure me with his calm and supportive approach. His expertise and patience are truly unmatched! I’d wholeheartedly recommend Ultima Training to anyone looking to achieve their HGV—honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better team and trainer to guide you to success!

I passed my class 1 test recently (11th march 2025) my instructor was Nick Truman from the very 1st minute I stepped in the cab I was welcomed and made to feel very comfortable, the tuition I received was first class very thorough and easy to understand, whenever the day wasn't going to well he was always there reassuring me, I would strongly recommend ULTIMA TRAINING to anyone wanting to achieve there hgv

I passed my class 1 test on the 25/02/2025.
I really enjoyed the process and all of the training. My instructor nick is a real asset to ultima. Calm collected and teaches in a very well and thought through manner. He boosted my confidence and got me through the test with ease and only 2 minors. Not only would I now call nick a good friend he has offered further support in the future with employment or any situations I may need advise with. I'd say he goes above and beyond for his students.. all in all a great experience and would recommend to all

I passed my class 1 on the 13/02/2025 first try going straight from my car license with only 3 minors, wouldn't have been possible without my instructor nick who was fantastic the entire time I had him, couldn't fault him at all!! Personally I had a great experience with my driving and everything went smoothly no faults for nick, only downfall I'd say is within the office, a few aspects could be organised a bit better but no fault of the instructor. Thanks!

Passed Class 1 on 11/02/25 and I couldn't have done it without my instructor the excellent Dave Higham. His knowledge and training style are second to none, he really is a credit to the company. I would recommend anyone reading this to ask for him personally he really is one of the nicest chaps I've ever met and enjoyed our chats during the course. In the end I wanted to pass for him just as much as myself that's how superb he is and you can see he is genuinely happy for you to pass. He will even give you a Yorkie bar when you pass which is a nice touch. God bless you, Sir. Overall a great experience I learned so much that will stay with me for the rest of my driving career. I recently completed my training at through Ultima, going from HGV 2 to HGV 1.

A special mention has to go to the Nick, not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient, supportive, and dedicated to ensuring I succeeded. He took the time to explain concepts clearly, provide hands-on practice, and offer valuable insights that gave me the confidence to pass my test.

Just want to thank instructors at Ultima and Dave and Nick in particular who I spent the most time with. Had a rocky start but got sorted and passed car to class 1 first time with 1 minor. All instructors are easy going guys who you can have a good laugh and a chat whilst they provide superb instruction. Dave was as pleased as me at test centre when I passed which shows how much they care. Thanks again everyone.

One of the best trainers I've had no's his stuff cannot thank nick for passing is skill set on to me, class two to class one in blink of an eye.

Class experience, training was superb nick and ant are the best trainers going , I went from car to class 1 and passed first time , I would definitely recommend!!

saw a post on Facebook about upgrading from class 2 upto class 1 for free with the government scheme, a short message later I had 3 days of training with nick who was absolutely amazing, patient, very informative, calm and a extremely knowledgeable instructor, went for my test 24/12/2024 and passed first time. Anyone looking at doing any hgv tests I highly highly recommend ultimata and especially nick👍

All the instructors at Ultima, explain stuff really well and have good approach to teaching. As well as that they are patient. Also the whole process including the scheduling is easily understandable and clear.
