Product advertised as Sea Glass Christmas Tree with descriptions such as "Each piece of sea glass, smoothed and weathered .." along with pictures of actual sea glass turned out in reality to be a hunk of plastic or resin. Misleading, false, scam.
Just avoid.

After numerous inquiries about the status of my order they have deemed me "a high risk customer" and cancelled my order! Doubt I will get a refund. Do not order from the website! Not trustworthy.

DO NOT!! DO NOT!! DO NOT!! ORDER FROM THE UNUSUAL JOY COMPANY!!! After 25 emails from 12/15/24-3/20/25, making every effort (unsuccessful) to return the item I ordered and receive a refund for my purchase, I am throwing in the towel and taking the loss on the item I ordered. From the get go I have been strung along by James Cole with steps that I needed to take to return the item and receive a refund. First, the item was clearly a piece of crap and not even worthy of a dollar store product. It only took a brief look at the item before realizing I had been hoodwinked with regards to product material and quality. Simply the worst item I have ever ordered!!!! I was told and their website states, that items can be returned to a specific address in Austin, Texas. I followed those directions after an email contact with James but then it was returned to me as “item refused.” After many emails that indicated that it was likely an “error on their end,” I offered to attempt a return again but with the understanding that I would be reimbursed for my postage x2 as well as the expected product refund. I provided all mailing information in my emails. That’s when I was told that it was refused because it was not in the original packaging. I responded that it was impossible to return it in the original packaging as one needed to tear open that packaging to view the ordered item, that was also within its own package. When I mailed the item, the item was contained in its original, undamaged product box and securely wrapped in package paper so that it would be mailed as safely as possible. Their website indicates easy returns. That is a lie. Essentially, they do not accept returns at all!!! As a final note, I researched this company online before ordering and felt that it was likely a secure online store as it was located in the United States. Clearly, I was mistaken that would make for a quality product and purchase experience. I hope you enjoy the money you have taken from me and I’m sure the many others you have duped with your products. Sleep on that every night as you run a business that does not stand by its products or policies!!

Complete fraud of a company. Do not purchase anything from them! I purchased the levitating moon on their website. It was anything but levitating as it was just a moon spinning on a holder. Emailed James to return and he apologized for the misleading listing which is just bullshit. Then tried to return the item and they kept rejecting my shipment when it arrived. What a waste of $$$$ and hope this place goes out of business. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! THEY ARE A FRAUD!!!!!

I wish I had looked at these reviews before purchasing the “stained glass stack of books lamp”. Unlike the website description saying that it is made of 70 glass pieces, it is not glass at all but rather a uniform small resin/plastic thing with a tea light that looks like I bought it at the dollar store and sloppily painted by a child. Costumer service is extremely sketchy too saying that I’m responsible for paying for the return postage if I want a refund. Interestingly the person who responded to my email told me this but didn’t give me instructions to send it back. I’m sure I was a scam victim on this one and will be out the $50 I spent. Shame on me. Lesson learned.

"Stained glass stack of books" turned out to be cheap resin that looks like a pre-kindergarten project. Return package refused because it was not in original outside packaging sent from overseas. Lots of runaround, with a smug comment about how valuable I am as a customer. Customer service
stinks.

Horrible! Do not buy from them! I have been trying to return an item for 3 months and have sent the item back twice. They kept refusing the order! They even verified the order was theirs and still refuse to give my money back. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau!

Big scam! Do not buy! Unusual hell! I've been trying to return my item for months and they refuse to give me a real return address. Bunch of boloney.

Terrible experience! I ordered from Unusual Joy but received a cheap knockoff from China. I contacted them for a return and refund, followed their instructions, and sent the item back—only for them to refuse the package and have it sent back to me. Completely untrustworthy. Avoid at all costs!

The sea glass tree is beautiful. It is just the right size for where I placed it. I may need to purchase a larger one for next Christmas. It really is unique and attractive.

Great experience! When I thought the one item was not delivered due a mail delivery wrong address situation. James Cole who responded promptly via my email request from Unusual Joy with information as to where the one item had been wrongly delivered with a photo. James was so on it. Great service!

This was a gift for a special friend and since was blue can be left out all year. She thought it was absolutely lovely and appreciated the thoughtfulness of such an unusual item.

The sea glass Christmas tree was so cute and a nice addition to my Christmas decorations at my beach home

This place is a scam. They tell you things have been shipped but they do not give tracking numbers. They respond to my emails without giving real answers. They suggested I order something else to replace my delayed item and when the delayed item gets to me I can return if for a refund. From these comments, looks like they don't accept returns and they don't give you free shipping to return, so it will cost me money to return it....if i ever get it. I reported them to my credit card company for fraud.

*Their response about they “automatically” send tracking numbers when items are shipped is false. I was NEVER given a tracking number, even though James said it was already shipped. I repeatedly asked for a tracking number, which James was never able to give me even though he replied to my emails telling me to be patient.
I never requested a cancellation because James assured me it had been shipped. Still no package has arrived.

This company is complete fraud. They use fraudulent descriptions of merchandise. Mine was delivered broken and they would not refund and threatened to sell my personal information to the dark web.
Beware!

This company is claiming I never contacted them! I’d be happy to share our email exchange when they threatened my identity and refused to refund a broken item which I forwarded pictures of proof of damage. They wanted me to mail the broken item back to them at my cost which would be more than the item was worth. Once again - be aware! Horrible company!

THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM. BUT I WILL CANCEL PAYMENT WITH MY BANK ! Go steal someone else! They provided a fake mail address to return the wrong item they delivered.

Do not buy from this website. It is a scam. IF you need to return an item (at your cost BTW), they will Refuse the package upon arrival and then tell you without written reason from USPS (like that happens) they will not refund or send a pre paid shipping label.
