Upper Street Contractors Ltd. レビュー

I have been using Upper Street Hardware for years and when I wanted some shelves fitted I contacted the DIY service for a quote. Start to finish, it was a first class experience. Soma talked me through the various options (we wanted floating shelves that were flush to wall as the space was an alcove) and was very clear on the cost. After this, we were measured up and then the shelves fitted. The operative who came was professional, polite, was extremely tidy and did an absolutely outstanding job - the end finish is first class and we’re chuffed to bits. I would highly highly recommend Upper Street Hardware. A lovely company to deal with and a brilliant at what they do.

The plumber worked very hard and persisted for many hours investigating a difficult leak until he finally uncovered the cause and fixed it. We are very happy with the service.

Thanks for sending Ahmed to sort out what I knew was a ridiculously simple plumbing problem. All organised with humour, good manners and executed within an hour of my original phone call. Well done you.

rewarded with the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. The work was done over two visits, by two different plumbers. The first workman was 2 hours late from the booked arrival time, but was at least fairly professional and apologetic about it. However the second plumber who fitted the sink itself yesterday was rude, unprofessional and made a total mess of the job itself as detailed below and in the photos. To make this worse, the “customer service” I received after complaining about the atrocious job, was none existent. The only email response I received after multiple calls and emails said they would not be paying for the damage caused to the surrounding bathroom unit, that they felt this job was “good quality” and they advised me to go somewhere else to resolve it . The issues found are listed below, with photos as attached. I chose this company based on its good reviews, and assumed as local business it would care about this reputation but my experience couldn’t have been worse. I am still seeking to pursue them and their insurance company to repair the damage caused to the bathroom unit.

1. The sink installation workmanship was appalling. The bathroom was left dirty, there was sealant scraps all over the floor, and there was even a sealant covered Upper Street handyman Business card left on the floor. Since removing the basin to check the work underneath the unit, it was found that there were no fixing brackets used as provided… the bag of these was simply left sealed and thrown on the floor behind the toilet. This would have left the basin to damage the worktop with time as it was unsupported.

2. The sink plug did not shut. The very basic check on seeing if it closed has clearly not been done. This is an absolute joke and indicator of not just shoddy workmanship but laziness to even check that it was working.

3. The sealant was atrocious. There are significant variations in the depth and finish, there are large areas of completely missing sealant, and there is white sealant that has been smeared about 6/7cm away from the perimeter of the edge of the sink. The wooden bathroom unit has been significantly damaged by this process.

4. The cupboard that sits below the sink has been damaged and replaced incorrectly. There is a missing bracket for the shelf, and the shelf itself has been forced into the bottom of the cupboard. The cupboard backing panel has been fitted too low, so there is a clear 10cm gap in the inner below the sink. This panel even has a shape cut out for the sink drain - it is very clear where it should sit. To place it in here, the tradesman has put a new screw into the wood - there were no screws visible here previously and this panel is now permanently damaged by his poor work and botched attempt at fixing it.

6. The grey mastic sealant that was at the back of the worktop has a split in the middle and so will need replacing. It is a concern that the amount of force used in the simple sink installation can have split a mastic sealant.

5. As seen in the photos the cupboard did not close, and was not flush in either side of it.

7. There are scratches, dents and a significant crack within the unit worktop. This wooden worktop will need replacing as the cracked wooden veneer will leak water and quickly deteriorate.

8. No attention at all to Covid safety precautions -

As you can see from the above this is has been an unbelievably poor experience, which has left us with a faulty sink, poorly and messily finished and with permanent damage to the bespoke unit surrounding it. Furthermore the lack of apology, and the insistence that this was a “good job” is absolute insult to the injury already performed. In case you couldn’t tell already, I couldn’t recommend this company less.

First class.
I reported hood extractor over the hob not working. It’s been there 27 years and I said it needed replacing.
Sam looked at it, changed the fuse and bulb and it’s working again.
I’d prepared myself to spend about £600. It cost £100.
Very trustworthy. Thanks.

Easy, straightforward, polite and reassuring and no issues when it came to fees etc. Will definitely use again. Top service

Very good service and definitely recommend.

Sam is a fantastic, friendly, and professional electrician. Came by to fix a few socket lights. Incredibly knowledgeable. He's quick, very respectful of working cleanly, and great that he wore a mask. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience. Handyman was able to come on short notice. He was on time, made time to stay longer as we kept finding things for him to fix and he kept fixing them. very helpful and professional. invoicing made easy as well. Will definitely use again.

Great experience, very professional. Our electrician Sam did a very good job.

A small plumbing job, completed punctually, efficiently and cheerfully.

I have used Upper Street Handyman plumbers twice now. On both occasions, their service has been prompt, punctual and courteous. Both jobs were completed with minimum fuss and within their cost estimates. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have found Upper Street Handyman very good - they are well organised, responsive, conscientious and they do a good job. Their men are very polite and hardworking and cause minimum disruption. I am a regular and repeat customer and have no hesitation in recommending them.

I used this company after I had a flood in my flat. They came out and gave me a quote very quickly for the work that needed doing and the quality of the work has been excellent.

I will use them in the future as they are very reliable and produce an excellent standard of work

A really professional outfit with consistent quality and reliable service. Just had some electrical work done by Sam who was brilliant, courteous and efficient. A local business to Islington which really deserves support.

Excellent customer service. I had my kitchen painted by Emand who was courteous and extremely hard working and did an excellent job. He cleaned everything before he left as well

Sam then came to do an electrical job and once again was excellent. I would definitely recommend this company.

I always use Upper Street Handyman, consistently good highly professional service, with that personal touch at a competitive price.

Sam was very helpful in isolating and fixing a tricky shorting problem on one of our electric circuits

Great service, great support and they never try to rip you off. I highly recommend using these guys.

Plumber arrived on time as arranged and he dealt with the issue efficiently and courteously. He also maintained social distancing and used full precaution and disinfection measures while in the flat.
