The person I talked to was helpful and polite, and I could understand him.

My contact, Aldo, made promises about dates and contacting us, and never followed through, promised he would which made us doubt your legitimacy.

Also, we think it's pretty lame, and inappropriate to charge us fricking 1400 DOLLARS! without even confirming that we are going on the trip!!

What a fricking rip off! Take our money and we don't even know if we're going on a trip or not

The jury is still out as to the trip itself. When I had to make my final payment (due 3 months BEFORE the trip) they had a glitch in their payment system that caused a double-payment of nearly $6000 (I didn't assume it was a glitch but was told so by the CS person I talked. I told them that it was irresponsible of them to not temporarily shut down the payment system until they had the glitch fixed. Anyway, it took multiple calls to Vacation by Rail and to my credit card company costing abut 2 hours of my time in total. It did eventually get refunded, but it was not a pleasant experience. So, when making your payments, DO double check your credit card transactions!

I liked being allowed time to make a reservation. Sales person answered my questions.

Their itinerary was what attracted. The good… was the tour manager that accompanied us through out our trip. She was great. Every thing else was down hill.

The bad… the company is poor in communication. Specifically not replying to calls and emails for information about the booking or issues with the trip.

We requested and paid for upgraded hotels as we required a bit more space for medical reasons. Spoke with them several times to confirm, yet the first hotel had no record. As the room was too small, I paid out of pocket for the larger room as the assigned room was too small to navigate. The tour manager attempted to contact the main booking office several times and they did not reply. They have yet to reply to our requests either.

They need to do a better job communicating as they provided us with train tickets to get to and from the start and end points of the tour, but very little information as to how to actually get there.
They booked us and I paid for a post hotel stay near our departure airport . This hotel was supposed to have a shuttle to and from the airport/train station. When starting to arrange when we arrived at our departure airport, I contacted the hotel to arrange for the transfer to the hotel. They told me that the shuttle was not available for the next 4.5 hours and wished me luck to arrive there. The rest of this hotel issue is a separate issue, but as vacations by rail booked this for us, they have yet to respond to multiple requests to address the situation.

Food provided by the tours at the hotel were mediocre at best.

The saving grace was the onsite tour manager who went out of her way to assure a nice trip.

Would not book with them again

The person we spoke to on the phone answered every question we had to our satisfaction, was very polite and easy to talk to.

I worked with a person named Laman Johnson, and he was very helpful. I would have given a 5*, but I have not had a return call about the travel insurance. I believe it was misquoted because the quote was based on a trip costing $12,230.00, while the total was $14,230.00. Please help me with this issue.

The online information was great for determining which tour we would enjoy. Then, it was easy to connect with a representative via phone—no long waits to talk to someone. And, everything was handled quickly while on a single call!

Tessa was very helpful with the booking process. My husband and I have been out west 3 times but look forward to going next year in this way.

Jordan was very helpful in finding and offering us the options for our trip to Europe. He listen to our requirements and spent a lot of time to meet our needs. He also explained the benefits of adding the Travel Care and Dreampass to the trip. Overall, he did a great job providing the service.

Ashanti was very friendly, knew the product and was helpful. She made sure that I knew all the things that I need to know.
