My experience of the Vision Care Clinic has been a very positive one. The whole team at the VCC put me at ease and helped to alleviate my anxiety. Kieren Darcy diagnosed that I had Koretoconus, he gave a clear explanation of my condition and the plan to correct it. Kieren answered all of my many questions in a clear concise way. The laser surgery on both Corneas was very successful, I also had lens replacement to correct acute myopia and early stage cataracts. I am very happy with the results of my treatment which has been life changing for me. I would highly recommend Kieren and his team to anyone. Quite frankly they are brilliant!

I cannot praise the team at VisionCare enough - the treatment I received during two corneal transplants was exceptional. I found Kieran Darcy's calm and very thorough approach made me feel confident that the outcome would be a success. A recent check up after 2years showed that my transplants continue to allow me to drive and to read without glasses.

I am delighted to share my overwhelmingly positive experience following my recent Lasik surgery at Vision Care Clinic. From start to finish, the entire process was nothing short of exceptional, and I cannot speak highly enough of the outstanding care and professionalism provided by Mr Darcy and the entire team.

Thanks to their skillful care, my procedure was successful, and my recovery has been very smooth.

My optician recommended Mr. Darcy at Vision Care Clinic, Clifton, Bristol. From my initial contact with Cheryl through to Mr. Darcy himself, I was treated with the upmost respect and care. The cost involved was fully explained to me both verbally and in writing as was the treatment itself. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Darcy and his staff

I was recommended Vision Care by my local optician. I needed treatment for a macular hole. I felt safe and cared for by the whole team. Mr Liyanage is a lovely man who explained the options carefully to me in a way I could understand. I was given time to decide and once I had done so the operation was conducted speedily and efficiently. The aftercare was great and I am very happy with the choices I made. Costs were fully explained on my initial query with no additional or unexpected fees.

From start to finish my experience with vision care was exceptional. I was first recommended to see Mr Darcy by a family member, and I had my initial consultation with Kieren and the team at the Chesterfield hospital, Bristol. My visit here was a great success, the environment was welcoming and the team were friendly, particularly Linda who was my first point of contact, and my go to throughout, who is always professional and approachable at all times. Kieren has a plethora of knowledge and helped come to the root of my poor eyesight and recommended the lens replacement surgery as the best course of treatment for me, in order to move away from wearing glasses.

Following on from this, I decided to go ahead with the surgery, and the friendly team guided me through the next steps, leading up to the procedure. I requested to have both lenses replaced simultaneously, therefore I had my surgery at Cardiff Ultralase, with Kieren as my surgeon. The experience here was also second to none, the team were fabulous and one nurse in particular assisted me throughout, guiding me through the procedure beforehand and her knowledge in the field was exceptional; this put me at ease, made me feel excited about the outcome and feel supported during this time.

The post procedure support is still at this same level, with exceptional care throughout, I feel I can approach any of the Vision Care team at any time, if required. In my opinion this team is a rare find.

My outcome from this far excels my expectations and is continuing to improve daily.

I would thoroughly recommend this team to anyone who is considering being glasses free!!

I recently visited the vision care clinic in Clifton for a consultation with Mr Kieren Darcy. After a thorough eye examination, premium lens replacement was suggested as an option for me to be able to break free from the frustration and irritation of wearing reading glasses.
Two months later I had the eye surgery and I haven’t worn glasses since. The surgery was very quick and painless and now I can see clearly with no ill effects at all.
Thanks to all at the vision care clinic, this has been the best money that I’ve ever spent and it has changed my life for the better.

What made this experience truly remarkable was the improvement in my vision (+11.00, with reading glasses over my contact lenses) to zero-zero vision. Having worn glasses and then contact lenses from age 2, my initial treatment expectation was to reduce my prescription to around +4.00, which in itself would have been life-changing. Kieran Darcy came highly recommended to me by another local eye surgeon for his precision and success with less straightforward prescriptions.

Given three options, I chose the multifocal lens replacement. Initially, I understood that, given my prescription, this could pose a challenge, potentially requiring laser treatment or a piggyback secondary lens fitted to the new lens. However, neither proved necessary, and the outcome exceeded all our expectations. I trusted Kieran Darcy based on the high accolades from other professionals in the industry and the confidence he instilled in me during the consultation.

The entire team, from Cheryl, his PA during booking, to Jane assisting with tests, and Magda for check-ups, displayed immense professionalism, warmth, and helpfulness. The team in Cardiff, where I had the operation, was also very supportive. The procedure itself took only 45 minutes for both eyes, and remarkably, I didn't need to take a paracetamol at any stage.
Post-op care was excellent. When I felt slightly anxious about symptoms a few days later and needed to speak with the team, my messages were promptly relayed to Mr. Darcy, and responses were given quickly. Everything settled down, and the symptoms passed.

The only area for improvement could be in maintaining consistency in the printed pre and post-op care documentation provided by Visioncare Clinic in Bristol and the Cardiff clinic. The information varied quite a bit, and Cardiff's documentation, was in pale grey and small print.

I can't recommend Vision Care Clinic highly enough. I've already recommended it to several friends who have booked consultations. The treatment received deserves a 10-star rating, totally bowled over!

I went to Mr Liyanage for a thorough eye exam as I have high myopia and wanted a highly skilled ophthalmologist to assess my eyes. I had tests and scans, after which everything was thoroughly explained. Mr Liyanage has a wonderfully calm and reassuring demeanor and answered all of my questions. I would not hesitate to use his services again and would highly recommend him.

Despite a successful lens replacement procedure on both my eyes, I suffered from a reaction to the necessary after-care eye drops. Mr Sid Liyanage reassured me this was an unfortunate but not uncommon reaction. He arranged for me to visit him on a weekly basis to assist with my recovery. Each week there was a gradual improvement. Although my initial procedure was successful the aftercare I’ve received has been equally important. Once again, I would highly recommend anyone considering lens replacement to contact Mr Sid Liyanage at Vision Care Clinic.

Superb care and attention to detail from Kieren and his team. Kieren is outstanding but so is his team, whoever you deal with they are warm, friendly and highly competent.Over the last two years I have had Cataracts in both eyes done , the second needed some adjustment post operation but this was sorted superbly and the end results are outstanding.

I went in for cross linking on both my eyes and laser surgery on one of them. Kieran was amazing and corrected the Keratoconus in both of my eyes! They had state of the art equipment and his knowledge in my condition was exceptional. My vision will now be better than 20:20 with glasses. He was really friendly and welcoming and made me feel at ease throughout the process.

I've been struggling with my vision for over 2 years, not focussing well in poor light conditions and having difficulty with bright sunlight, using sunglasses more than normal. My usual High Street optician told me there was nothing they could do so I decided to have a thorough check at Vision Care Clinic (where my husband is currently undergoing treatment for kerataconus).
The service is both friendly and professional. After wide-ranging scans and checks using state-of-the-art equipment, Mr Darcy took me through all the details of my eye health and explained that my symptoms were due to cataracts in both eyes. He then suggested options, which included doing nothing. Alternatively I could have the cataracts removed and replaced with lenses to correct my vision (and also the possibility of being totally glasses-free using monovision). The prospect of eye surgery is daunting and I was under no pressure to go ahead but I decided not to wait for my symptoms to get any worse. I had both eyes done on the same day as I couldn't see the point of doing them separately with two recovery periods. I also felt my brain would adjust better to monovision if both eyes were corrected at the same time. I was only at the surgery clinic for a few hours and the staff were again very friendly. Mr Darcy was both informative and reassuring. In the following days my eyes were sometimes irritated but - after the initial 2 days of being very careful while my pupils returned to normal - the improvement to my vision has been remarkable and every bit as good as I hoped it would be, especially the monovision.

I can’t recommend Vision Care and Kieren Darcy highly enough. I had a fairly complex condition affecting my left cornea. I was hugely impressed by the tests and scans carried out by VisionCare and Kieren’s scientific and analytical approach. He constantly seeks out leading edge technology and approaches in his specialisation in order to improve his capabilities further. Kieren’s manner engendered confidence and reassurance in the outcome of the procedure which was totally successful. Alongside the verbal explanations at the time of the consultation and the procedure itself, Kieren provided very extensive written information about it which was very helpful and answered most questions that you forget to ask at the time. As a result of the correction Kieren made to my left cornea, he was then able to replaced the lenses in both eyes so that I now have perfect unaided vision – something that I have longed for for more years than I care to mention! A word also for Keiren’s team who were all very helpful and supportive and a particular thanks to Cheryl who was always very attentive.

I attended Vision Care Clinic last week for Implantable Contact Lens. I have an astigmatism in both eyes, and a prescription of around -2.5/-3.5. Being mid 40s, I've also just started to struggle reading small text if I have my distance lenses in, especially in poor light.
After almost 30 years of wearing contact lens, I wanted freedom from the daily hassle and infection risk, especially for an upcoming trip involving a lot of swimming, scuba, surfing.

From the outset, the entire team was incredibly warm, welcoming, and more importantly - I had a real feeling of trust and confidence in their abilities, especially the surgeon, Kieran Darcy. The team advised me to consider Monovision – having one eye under corrected to allow for reading correction as well as distance correction. I was able to trial this by using an under-corrected contact lens in my non-dominant eye, before surgery. It turned out to be the perfect solution, it’s amazing the way that the brain uses the two different images and effectively edits out the blurry data to give fantastic vision for both near and far.

I was told that the procedure, under anaesthetic drops, would be painless - and this was 100% accurate. After the drops have taken effect, you are asked to look straight ahead, with the bright surgery lights in front of you. Kieran gave indications of the process as he worked, and how much of the process was left, which was beneficial to me. While the incision is being made and the lens is being inserted and orientated, I basically could see just a blurry mix of bright colours and shapes which was incredibly strange, but in no way painful. There is also a brief period of blackness, then the colours came back.

I think I was told I'd be in surgery for around 20 minutes, but the actual procedure must have been a fraction of that. After surgery, you can see immediately, although not perfectly (still far better than without glasses pre-op, in my case). By the time I'd had tea and a sandwich back on the ward, I could see really well. By the morning, my vision (near and far) was perfect!

I could not be happier with the outcome, or the team that I chose for the operation. Thank you all.

I’ve had an amazing experience having my eyes lasered at Visioncare in Bristol. All the clinic staff struck exactly the right balance between being professional and warm / welcoming. At the initial consultation lots if care and time was taken to build that trust and get to know my individual circumstances before recommending the right treatment; on the day of the surgery / treatment I was a little nervous and this was meh with patience, warmth and good humour, all helping to the make the experience not in the least bit daunting.
Post surgery I now have better than 20:20 vision ! Who could have wished for a better outcome than that !

I would thoroughly recommend the Vision Care Clinic team at the Nuffield Hospital in Bristol. From my first consultation through the two operations I had to remove cataracts to the after care everything was very efficient and carried out in a friendly and caring way. The two procedures were swift, without difficulty or pain and resulted in my vision being restored to previous levels of clarity. I no longer have to wear glasses and this spring colours were as vibrant as I remember them from my youth. The after care I received was second to none. Thank you Kieran Ivy and Linda.

I recently underwent surgery for Implantable Contact Lenses with Kieren Darcy at the Nuffield Clifton. I truly cannot recommend the procedure and Kieren highly enough, it really has been life changing.

All the staff at the hospital were so lovely, including Linda and Cheryl at my consultations. Everyone was so friendly, patient and thorough.

The surgery itself was so much easier than I could have imagined. I didn't feel a thing, and because they shine such a bright light into your eye, you cannot see anything either (which I mean is a good thing!).

Downtime afterwards was minimal and I woke up the next morning with better vision than I can ever remember having. I am now a month on and my vision is perfect, and my eyes are healthy again.
