John Denied Payment Processing
John at Wave determined my business a high risk client and denied payment processing services due to our businesses age. I was sold on Wave as a platform for small businesses. Didnât know my small digital marketing business that made websites and similar services was so risky.
Lots of bugs and Poor Support
Several bugs they refuse to fix and very poor communication. I've reported one of the bugs a dozen times over the past year and they won't fix (type in the date in the bills page and it crashes the whole site). Chat support has no understanding of bookkeeping. After verifying our business and approving us for Wave Payments, they suddenly canceled and blocked Payments without explanation. I sent them proof of our business AGAIN and a nasty gram; they turned it back on claiming they were unable to verify our business before. If they couldn't verify our business, why did they turn on Wave Payments the first time for a year?! Lots of reports missing. Accounting transactions are very limited; gotta have workarounds to fix issues.

Landing page to buy Zoho Books!
I wanted to try Wave for my new LLC, but couldn't. After signing up, it displays a page with the message "Wave is built for U.S. and Canadian businesses. Zoho is our trusted partner in your country." + a large Zoho Books ad with a redirect button. I thought "geolocation failed?" so I tried to access via VPN - same thing. I think this is some kind of joke. Not even mentioning that many business owners travel and need access from abroad, and there are plenty of foreigners who own businesses in the US. I can't find contact information to raise this issue and frankly after reading other reviews I won't bother.

I did the research and chose Wave. I run a three person operation, so just enough to make accounting more complicated than a spreadsheet I create myself. After making the jump, there was obviously a learning curve. It wasn't perfect, but I was making it work. I paid the extra monthly fee for payroll services, and that was fine.
Then, about nine months in, the accounting stopped importing my bank account info. I contacted Wave through the chat bot, and learned that it was an issue with their third party vendor Plaid, that handles that importation. Wave's advice was to wait until Plaid fixes the issue.
Next call was to my bank. They were completely unaware of any issue with Plaid. I tried to contact Wave again, but still couldn't get a satisfactory answer, just "wait for Plaid to fix it".
Now it has been about six weeks, with no data imported. I am having to start from scratch to find another accounting program, and then make the commitment to learn how to use it. This shouldn't be that hard. I want to run my business, not spend all my time wondering why the accounting program won't work.

0 STARS! RUNNNNNNNNNNNN! DO NOT PAY for any service that they offer. They are the worse. Setup payroll for a client and they took the money after the trial period end of testing. They send an email saying that they can't process the payroll unless we provide them details bank documents. We declined and the payroll money is still not returned! This is NOT the company you want to do business with! My client was upset and I was able to get the staff paid but now the wait for the return of the money is a HEADACHE! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! NOTHING HERE TO SEE for sure with Wave! Find you another option and THANK all the other reviewers for saving you the headache!

I'm giving one star because ZERO stars is not an option. Forget about customer service - and I'm a paying customer!
DO NOT consider switching to Wave if you have any credit cards from American Express. For the last year, Wave has failed to maintain a connection with AMEX, which means that I have to download statements from AMEX to upload to Wave and then spend hours classifying every single transaction. And here's the best part - I pay Wave to do their job!

this app is the worse, I set up my account, prepare and send an invoice expecting an AH payment that I configured on the Wave App. 6 days after my account has been canceled for receiving AH payments and the payment made by my client of $3,000 nobody knows where it is. This might be scam, one week and my money does not show up on my bank account.

I've used Wave for over 6-years now with 2 separate businesses. There's no doubt that Wave's basic bookkeeping software can benefit small businesses, especially compared to the costly other solutions in the market. The reason Wave is only getting 1-star though is purely because of how terrible its customer service is. 1.) If you do not enroll in any of their paid services, it will be impossible for you to contact customer service - even if it's for t the purpose of enrolling in their paid services. 2.) Even if you're enrolled in paid services, their customer support hours are extremely limited and their support team incredibly unhelpful. I've had the same payroll issues pending for over a month now, each time getting irrelevant updates and responses from their support team. Mind you - Wave has been marketing its payroll services to us for over 5-years now. We finally pulled the trigger and switched to Wave from our previous payroll provider - and wow, do we regret it. 0 onboarding and implementation support, 0 tutorials, 0 assistance whatsoever with setting up your payroll - but better believe they still expect full payment of your subscription, completely disregarding their ineffective and unreliable service. All in all, Wave has lost my praises and word-of-mouth. I used to refer all new business owners to Wave, but now I warn them from using it.

This is just BAD software and there is no viable route to get technical support when a function isn't working properly. In particular, I want to create a transaction report for a selected account, but the categorization doesn't happen except when you create a report for all your accounts. That's nuts. In addition I cannot find a way to turn off the auto-categorization, which ends up becoming a big headache because they are often wrong. My advice: STAY AWAY from this software.

This company is the reason I tell everyone to test run a merchant prior to moving your major business dealings. I've been a quickbook user for years, however I decided to try Wave Apps with my side business and it wasn't bad. I actually loved the interface and the ease of invoicing, but when it came to something as simple as changing my phone number.... Let me get this straight. You (wave) are going to freeze my account because I changed my phone number in setting where it's allowed to be done but penalize me for not contacting support when nothing states to contact support on changing a phone number. The thing to note is they didn't freeze incoming financial transactions. They are willing to take customers money, just not payout over a phone number change, that could have been verified in a matter of seconds with a simple phone call. I have an idea. Number changes, Call it?!?! Have a conversation, resovle problems.... Or does that just make too much sense to approach an issue that way? I just have to laugh at the level of sheer ignorance from this company. I have sat for few days waiting on the so called "ass.esment" team. I've been lied to buy support making false claims, and no repsonce from the "ass.esment" team. It's more disappointing than anything. Seemed like a good company at first.
Update: The greatest part is over 2 weeks later they are consistently sending me feedback on their support, and surveys on this and that and I keep stating the same thing, bad experience, terrible customer support, etc. Not a single phone call after closing the accounts that had been active for over 18 months. 100% factual - ZERO CARE OR CONCERN FOR CUSTOMERS.

This company should not be a merchant company! They have been withholding a payment made to me in September- and the same of many other stories- they cancelled my merchant services because of their ârisk assessmentâ. There was no explanation of the risk, no effort put forth to understand and learn about my business. Zero communication!
Because I donât pay for their accounting software, I donât get the opportunity to talk to a âwave advisorâ, although Wave profited from charging me merchant fees. And still no communication about my hard earned revenueâs being on hold since September!
I see now how big of a red flag it is to put trust in another business, making them responsible for my customers online payments without allowing a means for me to contact anyone at Wave. It is scary that some unknown can interfere with your hard earned earnings.. and without any care for their own customers paying them for their services!

Worst Payment Processor Ever
This is probably the worst payment processor ever. I had a $15k payout scheduled for today and last minute they decide to flag my account and refund all my clients that have been with me for years. They are an absolute garbage processor, I highly advise anyone using their services.

After a lengthy process, and hours of waiting and reading documentation, I was finally approved to receive payments through Wave. I processed my first payment and two days later was notified that my account has been closed, and the payment canceled and refunded to my client. I have read elsewhere that they defend this action of supplying you an account and then doing a more thorough âriskâ analysis, at which time they choose to cancel the account. Why not do your risk analysis first? They have given me no legitimate reason or âriskâ that I present for closing the account. During the application process they gathered many pieces of personal and banking info, and then fail to supply the service long term. This feels like a phishing scheme.
Wave won't allow check deposits over $10K
Wave does not allow check deposits of over $10,000. If you are a business that receives payments by check over $10,000 then you cannot deposit the checks into your Wave banking account. I assume this policy may be in place because Wave wants you to use their online payment system instead, in order for them to collect large fees for large payments you receive. I have a client that will only send payments by check and will not participate in online payment systems at all. Wave's policy is pretty frustrating as a small business owner. Isn't it enough that Wave makes money by using my money sitting in their account, and I don't receive any interest on it? Their customer service is also either unresponsive or unable to provide any solution on multiple occasions regarding multiple issues.

I signed up for Wave because I just started cleaning vacation rentals as an independent contractor. I sent my first two invoices and received payment. All was going well. However, two days later I went to use the app again for another invoice, and my previous invoices now appeared as unpaid and past due. Wave had sent payment reminders to my two customers requesting payment. (remember they already paid) I reached out to customer service to see what the problem was. Their risk analyst informed me I was not allowed to use their services and my account was shut down because of the evaluation of previous invoices--at least that is what I was able to scrape together from the very vague reasons behind my refusal. I only had two invoices and both were paid within 12 hours of receipt. I have good credit so even if they did an investigation into my financials (which would be super invasive and awful) there would be nothing for a risk analyst to go on. Super confused, super angry. Wave is the worst.
