I have given a three star review not for the work as the team of builders here was amazing Pal and his team deserve a big shout out, the three stars is for bad communication with the company and being charged twice for one job, we paid £2800 to have the roof on our garage raised which we was happy to go ahead with but when they took one board down they said we had to have a whole new roof that would cost £6000 we agreed to have this done expecting the £2800 to be returned to us as replacing the beams etc was all included in the first cost as well as the roof replacement, this of course did not happen and they gave a £1000 back to me as a good will gesture however the full amount would have been better as that is what we have paid so we are now £1800 out of pocket.
The gas meter should have also been moved outside as stated on our initial contact and we was told this would be done in week one of the build and it didn't happen, they did offer to do this but only after all the plastering and painting had been done so obviously we said no. There is quite a few other things that went wrong with this build but if I listed them all this would be super long and plus they had the email with everything on. It really didn't go as advertised or to the initial contact or to budget and over schedule and the work wasn't completed to the standard of the company.
Overall the space has given us more room to host family meals and entertain the family.

Just to respond to the below answer from WMH I have reached out to you directly and requested a full refund of the £2800 and this was not met, as I said £1000 as a gesture of good will but it's still leaves us £1800 out of pocket from a job that was never done.

I want to extend a massive thank you to Guv, Mandy, Rob, and the rest of the WMHI team for the fantastic work recently completed at my parents’ property.

Over the years, we’ve worked with many builders and tradespeople, but without a doubt, this has been the best experience we’ve ever had.

From the start, Rob was brilliant — coming out to do the initial quote and measure-up, taking the time to understand our needs, and working closely with us to create something truly special for my parents.

Mandy was excellent to communicate with throughout the project. We had a group chat with all the relevant team members, making it easy to get quick responses to any questions or queries.

Guv is a real asset to WMHI — always following through on his promises and handling any issues (big or small) with ease and professionalism. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him. I wasn’t able to attend the property at times and Guv would fill in for me and update me remotely on the progress. He was able to personally support my parents through the whole project and attend in person to communicate things through with them and explain things in simple terms. This is not a standard service that you would find with any builder that we’ve used previously. Guv’s service was truly exceptional and we are very grateful for all the time and efforts you’ve put into this project for my parents.

The whole team managed the project exceptionally well, and I’d honestly rate them 11/10 for the quality, service, and care they put into their work.

We had various quotes for this job, and while WMHI’s price wasn’t the cheapest, it was fair and reflected the top-quality service and craftsmanship they delivered. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for — and with WMHI, you get first-class service and complete peace of mind.

If you want the stress and hassle that comes with a bad builder, go with the cheapest quote. But if you want your project managed perfectly and finished to the highest standard, go with WMHI.

They’re a cut above the rest, and I’d 100% recommend them to anyone looking to have work done on their home.

Sales guy came round sold me the dream exhautionate amounts took 5k deposit and due to misleading info I asked to not go ahead. I managed to get 3500 and these crooks kept from 1500 for a draft sketch not worth more than 5 pound. Now its been 3 months still waiting for a invoice to justify the costs they charged me.

They are thieves not to be trusted I am taking this to trading standards.

Completely avoid this company. If I could give no stars then I would.

To start we had a guy call Jay come to quote - made out he was the business owner and could definitely talk the talk; sold a dream with what was included in the job so we signed the contract - turns out this Jay is just a sales rep and we only found this out when half the work was already done.

Building work started and I had to query many things with the site manager called Rob whom kept informing me the work is not included in the schedule of works completed by Jay, which I had never seen. If I had actually been sent this when I was suppose too then I definitely would not have continued with this company.

Onto the actual building work- absolutely horrendous. Anything that Jay mentioned would be included wasn’t and then it was extra cost for this and that. The staff are rude. The site manager Rob and company DO NOT listen to anything I had to say, I told them numerous of times of things I do not want them to do or touch but then I come back to the property and they have continue to do them. They have no consideration for your property and are happy to leave it in an absolute state. There was many issues I raised, they came back to rectify these issues and the issues were never improved, in the end costing me more money as I had to get other trades people to fix the job that should have been done in the first place.

They tried to leave my house very unsafe.
All they are after is money, try to intimidate you that you are in a “legal binding contract” but the work they carry out is horrendous and definitely not up to trading standards.

I was not living at the property whilst the work was going on so I was unable to monitor exactly what was done - so I’m just waiting for more issue to arise in the future.
They tried to leave an internal steel beam exposed externally. They tried to leave the brickwork at the side of my extension in a horrendous state, huge gaps in the brickwork where you can put your hand through and see insulation, using different bricks on the side, ones that you have to use render on and then normal external brick - makes no sense as to why.

Overall, the work is definitely not up to trading standards so do yourself and your money a favour and AVOID. Work that they stated would be completed in 3 months had been ongoing for over a year due to the amount of issues and back and forth with the company. I will be reporting them, when I actually showed them the brickwork they only then apparently removed the builders from all their sites. Just had a call out the blue from Jay today asking about if I’m happy with the customer service after all this time which is a joke knowing he lied through his teeth and does it regularly looking at other reviews!

Wasn’t to sure about who and what needed for my single extension but after meeting Craig for initial survey/ meet really helped me to decide. Craig been very prompt and helpful with all the questions and now have decided to have it done with WMHI.

They walked me through every step of the planning process, making sure I was completely comfortable with the design before moving forward.

Came over one time as a scheduled visit. Quoted us on the spot for two different jobs. It was a huge amount of money but never sent anything in writing to justify the immense cost. Very poor communication and not professional. No follow ups.
Reply to what you have said: I do not appreciate when people lie, as I have not said that. I have asked for the costing to be sent over so I can see where the money goes towards, in more detail.

After engaging with West Midlands Home Improvements to carry out our home renovations, we have never looked back.

Their flexibility to resolve issues has been notable.

WMHI built a large rear extension for our home, and the entire experience was great from start to finish. The extension not only looks fantastic but has completely transformed the way we use our home.

There were a few challenges along the way (as with any building project), but the team dealt promptly with any issues that arose. We always felt confident that the project was in good hands.

On top of their technical expertise, the team was professional, respectful and easy to work with. They kept site clean and organised.

We would recommend WMHI for any building projects, particularly if you are after stress-free experience and require a company that’s committed to quality and customer satisfaction.

WMHI have carried out my extension works and some internal upgrades to the bathroom. The team kept me informed with what was going on and also had a site manager on the project which was assuring for us as all works was getting checked at each stage.

We are having a single storey extension built with WMHI and so far I can only say they have exceeded my very exacting standards. Everyone has been quick, efficient and very helpful so far. Let’s hope that once planning permission has been approved that this continues. Updates to follow, but for now big thanks to Raja, Craig, Mandy, Amandeep and Kal for getting us this far.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at WMHI. Right from the start dealing with Raja and Rob all the way through to the end of the project the staff put my mind at ease knowing that the project is in good hands.

There was some frustrations with the council in getting the certificates but Mandy went above and beyond offering a lot of help and assistance in getting this sorted.

Recently had a single storey rear extenstion from west mid home improvements, start to finish they took on the project including getting planning. The build had its challenges but the team and site manager were quick to discuss the issues and come up with solutions. Very happy with the overall project. Having used builders in the past and how stressful that was this was thankfully the opposite. Thank you for the build me and my family will enjoy it for many years to come!

TLDR:
Amazing customer service from Craig, patient and hassle free advice, and extensive and informed support with design, never felt any pressure to finalise until we were happy & ready.

We began the process with rough ideas for changes to our porch, lean-to, and kitchen, and no idea of how to get them done.

We worked with Craig who was incredibly patient with all of our requests and countless design changes, and took the time to help turn our very rough ideas into a solid, practical plan that worked for our budget and still gave us everything we wanted.

We never felt pressured to go a particular direction or finalise our design, and couldn’t have asked for better customer service than Craig provided.

Whilst we didn’t end up going forwards with the construction work due to entirely unrelated circumstances, we will certainly be returning in the future to bring our plan to life.

Would highly recommend WMHI to anyone really, but especially to first-timers like us.

Good company, completed work quick. Stuck to quoted price

A 6-8 week "small" job ended up taking 17 weeks through sheer incompetence and lack of care, for the job itself or my families life!

Having to bullet point this because of character maximum

1. Mouldy plyboard used in brand new flat roof
2. no joist hangers
3. Noggins badly spaced
4. Kerb only 75% complete
5. No insulation in the eaves
6. No flashing
7. No top coat
8. Screws sticking out everywhere
9. Wall plate not bolted to the wall
10. No vapour control barrier
11. Fibreglass all over neighbours new patio and standing on their flat roof
12. Internal blockwork had to come down twice
13. 4 different teams of builders as 3 were incapable
14. Damaged our property
15. Were very rude and lied to us repeatedly
16. Dangerous electrics fitted by an unqualified electrician (they have no certified or registered electricians)
17. Put our family at risk of fire and electrocution
18. Demanded payment for incomplete and very poorly finished work
19. Caused problems with neighbours
20. Flooded our current kitchen and caused damage to the kitchen
21. Rude and misinformed repeatedly by office staff
22. Old or substandard materials used repeatedly
23. The owner made promises at point of sale, and then disappeared when needed
24. Nothing completed to the standard promised, every wall is unlevel and in some places out by 30-40mm from one end to the other

Absolutely horrendous company, that claim all teams are in house and employed directly THIS IS NOT TRUE! They do not vet their subcontractors and then defend the abysmal work that is completed. Honestly never been so let down by a business
