I read through the reviews for the Smarty 3 in 1 pants enough to believe that the negative reviews must have just been some quality control anomalies and these pants were actually the business. Based on the provided sizing chart and other reviews I read, I ordered a size M. I am 6’0”, 180lbs, size 30-31 waist which is a pretty standard size for a guy I’d say and the size chart doesn’t even list a S as a recommended size for someone of my stature, so I thought I was golden! First, let’s begin with the fact that the pants took two weeks to arrive at my place (I kept an eye on the shipment tracker and they took 5 days to make it from CA to AZ, then an extra 7 to get to MN) and therefore missed a trip where I planned on wearing them. Second, when these things did finally show up I was shocked at how poor these fit. The legs were a good length and tightness overall, but the waist was like a size 38-40. No joke. I tried to cinch down on the Velcro belt straps and that only brought them down to maybe a 34 and then made the back of the pants pull down. In what world is a M supposed to be for dudes that big? Super disappointing. I got charged $8 to send them back just like other people on here claim, and I got an email saying I have been refunded, but nothing in my bank account yet.

Other than all that, the pants seemed like they were built pretty well with some cool features, so it’s a bummer everything else about the experience was trash. Do with this information what you will.

I love 686, the best pants I have ever bought, the Smarty 3n1. You should get a pair too!

If I could leave this company a 0 star review I would. I ordered a jacket from them and when it arrived it looked fine, however the zipper would not work. I wrote to them explaining this and they made me submit a warranty request. In my request I explained I did NOT want a store credit to their store as I ordered this jacket for an upcoming ski trip and since the one I ordered was defective, I was forced to buy one elsewhere in store so I could have it in time for my trip. I sent the jacket back right away via Fedex.

Customer service kept sending me an automated response saying they will grant me a credit to their store. I answered their emails at least 5 times stating I did not want a store credit. No answer. Now I have to fight with my credit card company and am out the $270 the jacket cost!

This company has an Amazon store as well and of course allow for free simple returns. I myself, being a small business owner, decided to order directly through the 686 website because I know how much of a percentage Amazon takes from your sale. Well, lesson learned. I will never order from this company again. The customer service is atrocious.

Great product easy purchase and return process.

I received a jacket and was looking to return it for an exchange. I left a voicemail with my phone number and email and sent an email and I have received nothing in response from the company.

I bought a couple pair of the Everywhere Shorts back in the Spring of 2020 and they worked so well, throughout the Summer I bought another pair when they became available, unfortunately that was a few months later in November.

Once the bitter cold of Winter came rolling in, I figured having a set of pants would be a good idea and knowing that the Everywhere shorts fit so well and filled all the needs I had for my lifestyle I jumped on it. The features included that I desired were the front right pocket for my pocket knife, the double-lined pockets for keeping a phone and wallet or keys, and a side leg pocket with a zipper for my headphones and smaller items like a couple bucks and change. Having belt loops is also a plus in case I need to wear one or hang a set of keys like I do each day.

The comfort of the pants and shorts is a blessing since I run pretty hot most of the time and the breathable fabric makes for air flow and no sweating. I suggest anyone looking for an every day pair of pants or shorts to invest in 686 Everywhere bottoms either the shorts or pants.
