The actual experience far out surpassed our expectations! The sleeping accommodations were unique and delightful. The guides were positive, fun, and full of good information. It was a challenging but rewarding experience. Plenty of delicious food and lots of laughter. Would highly recommend to anyone up to a good challenge!

This company does such a great job with organizing tours! I'm a returning customer. Did a classic Inca trail 2 years ago, and this time 5D Salkantay. Guides Marcio and Elder, cook Mario, assistants, porters, horseman - all were awesome.
Would definitely return again in a few years for 7D Salkantay + Inca trail.

A group of 12 guests and 2 guides completed the Salkantay trek with guides Marcio and Elder. The food from Mario and his crew of Richard and Edison was delicious and abundant! They catered amazingly for special diets, including vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian, with incredible attention to detail and protein alternatives. We had a dedicated horseman and other support from the Green Machine team. Alpaca provided some quality equipment, including a backpack rain cover! Each accommodation was unique and lovely, different, quaint and comfortable. Because we hiked early April, it was the end of the rainy season and in a few spots the roads were washed out, but there were transport alternatives and always safety considerations. The guides were informative, kind, funny and took great care of us! Thank you!

It was a great experience with Elder and Marcio! They were amazing guides and allowed us to have the most amazing time on the salkantay trek! They were very informative and also motivational.

Amazing trek! Abel and Richard were wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful. They helped all of us carry along the short Inca trail, there was a delicious meal served, and we all felt like family!

Every single member of their staff treated us like family. They were thorough, kind, patient, and incredibly organized. It was such a gift to not have to worry about anything—except waking up on time! And even that was taken care of, as our guide greeted us each morning at our door with a warm cup of tea to start the day.

Our guide, Carlos Arque, was everything we could have hoped for and more. He met us at our hotel the night before the trek, walked us through the itinerary, and made sure we felt confident and prepared every step of the way. My husband and I brought our two young boys (8 and 9), and Carlos was amazing with them—patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in connecting with them.

Our chef, Wilfredo, along with the porters and the entire team at each camp, made us feel like part of one big, joyful family. Wilfredo’s meals were incredible, and his constant smile and positive energy lifted everyone’s spirits. His presence truly made each day better.

The trek itself was HARD—physically demanding and exhausting—but the team, especially Carlos, supported us every step of the way and made us believe in ourselves.

Carlos’s passion—for his work, his culture, and his faith—was evident in everything he shared. He brought the history, the land, and the experience to life in a way we’ll never forget. We genuinely loved learning from him.

By the end, saying “see you later” (not goodbye!) was incredibly difficult. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

We did the Salkantay trek with Alpaca Expeditions. We chose to do a private tour because my wife and I brought our two young sons at 8 and 9 years old and we did not want to hold up the others in a group. Carlos Arque, our guide made it so perfect!! He treated our boys like his own. By the end of the trip my 9 year old almost cried leaving Carlos. He felt like he made a new best friend. They talked for hours together on the trail. In fact, he said he wants to return to Peru in a few years to do another trip with Carlos. The chef Wilfredo made exceptional food as well!!

The Alpaca expeditions tour was incredibly efficient, well organized and a very pleasant experience. Our tour guides for day 1 & 2 were fabulous, knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely recommend booking a tour to see this beautiful archaeological site because the history that comes with the person experience is top notch and fascinating.

Alpaca expeditions are generally very well organsied and the communication is great! But what made my trip to Machu picchu even better was our guide Ronaldino who eas absolutely fabulous with his knowledge, patience and experience! He helped me in the hardest parts by motivating and encouraging me and stayed patient and didn't rush me. Thanks again... great memories for life! 🥰

Our tour guide Ronaldino was amazing. The pace for 2 day trek was just perfect. He was very helpful and above all very knowledgeable and expressed the history so fluently. His English as well as sense of humour was fantastic. My wife and I had an amazing time and experience of a life time. Will not forget such an amazing holiday. It was very well organised and again thanks to Ronaldino everything was explained so well.

This hike was a tough but amazing experience and I would reccomend it to all of my friends! Ronaldino was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide and the staff at alpaca is truly amazing in all that they do for their customers! I continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication. We did the 4day/3night Ausangate to Rainbow mountain trek + Machu Picchu. Our Alpaca team was wonderful and friendly. Thank you to our chefs Octavio and Felix, our horseman Agripino, and our amazing guide Henrry! They made sure we were well fed (so much delicious food and a whole freshly baked cake), safe, and having fun the whole trek :)

The people giving the tour made the experience great. Octavio and Felix, chef and assistant chef cooked amazing food and took great care of us, while working together with the horseman in harmony. It was inspiring to see such great teamwork. Henry was also an excellent guide, making sure we had an unforgettable experience by giving us all the information, organizing us and having fun with us. My only issue was from the administrative side, where there was confusion with bookings and our briefing was done by another guide who didn’t seem to know about the trek.
