Sad that Alpkit has shown that it does not really care for his employees and puts greed and financial worries first. Don't try to fool us that you really care for your employees!! You have given the Inverness shop employees very short notice and not offered any transfer inside your company. Yes you may have to take hard decisions and also your new owner could not pull this off in his home country the Netherlands ! The laws there would have prevented him from showing your valued team so quick the door. You have lost a very good customer today and I will not recommend your shop anymore! This will be a difficult decision for me but today I have seen that your B Corp rating is nothing but a marketing trick to fool us customers in believing you would be any different. Yes sometimes we have to take hard decisions but it is in these times that you could have shown that you stick to your claimed ethical values that you always have made a big deal out of the past. But you simply did not. !!! This could have been a 5 star review if you would have bothered to take any steps to help the shop workers in your company who made your shop one of the best in the Highlands! Enjoy your money and Sleep with a clear conscience that you still seem to have.

This star rating reflects the fact that I am gutted at the decision to close the Inverness store and my disappointment that a brand which espouses ethical values can treat their longstanding staff so poorly during this process. From previous responses it is clear that the decision was made from a purely economic perspective, but that is no excuse to lose sight of the wellbeing of those most directly affected. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Alpkit in the past and the Inverness store has been a huge asset for the outdoor community in and around Inverness, however the company's behaviour will definitely make me reconsider whether this is a brand whose values align with my own.

Alpkit are brilliant, I recommend them to anyone. They provide quality, ethically sourced, innovative products, with excellent customer support :)

This review is for the Alpkit Inverness store. I have been there several times in last 3 years - great advice and help from knowledgable staff; Sean, nick and Jamie. The Alpkit products are quality and their return policy has no hassle. I have bought tents, water filters, dry bags, tiny pumps and lots of clothes. Now bought shoes. I am sorry the Inverness store is closing - I even had my tent repaired there. The Inverness store was my go to place for Alpkit gear.

I am appalled at the decision to close the Inverness store. If I want sound gear at a reasonable price and, crucuially, good advice I like to visit an outdoor shop with expert staff. Alpkit at the Ledge was such a shop. I don't buy gear on line. The closure of the Alpkit store - highly valued by the Highland outdoor community and a great place to get stuff repaired, is short sighted and the worst example of corporate arrogance. I'll be going back to Tiso.

The shop in Inverness is sadly closing, and for this occasion they are giving extra discounts, so I went to have a look. I picked myself two pairs of trousers, and while I was paying, I was chatting with the staff. Naturally asked why they are closing the shop. They told me that while they do make some money, it is not enough for the company to keep them open. They also told me that the company told them about the prospect of closing a few weeks ago, stating they are looking at September (in 3 months time). After a month apparently they changed their mind, and decided to close shop in July, misleading the employees and giving them nearly no time to find something else.
I understand that this is a business, and they have to pull out if something that doesn't make a certain amount of money, but treating people who worked for them for years like this in the middle of a cost of living crisis... Shame. I certainly don't want to give my money to a company who would do such a thing, immediately asked for a refund, and will remember this story before I would willingly support them in the future.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Alpkit/Sonder.

I placed two separate orders on 11 July, including a tent and sleeping mat for an upcoming hiking trip. More than a week later, both orders are still showing as "Unfulfilled", with absolutely no indication that they have even entered the dispatch process.

What has made this experience particularly frustrating is the complete lack of communication.

I have repeatedly tried calling the customer service number over several days, but the line has been permanently engaged every single time. Not once have I managed to get through to speak to anyone. For a company selling premium outdoor equipment, having a customer service line that is effectively unusable is simply unacceptable.

I have also emailed customer services requesting an update and have received no response whatsoever. At the time of writing, I have no idea whether my items are in stock, whether there is a delay, or when I can expect them to be dispatched.

Had I been informed there was a delay, I could have planned accordingly. Instead, I've been left completely in the dark, wondering whether my equipment will arrive in time for a trip that has been planned for months.

It's particularly disappointing because Alpkit has a reputation for producing quality outdoor gear, which is one of the reasons I chose to buy from them. Unfortunately, good products mean very little if the customer service falls this far below expectations.

Customers shouldn't have to chase a company simply to find out where an order is. Nor should they have to spend days redialling a permanently engaged phone number and sending emails that appear to disappear into a void.

At this stage, I can't comment on the quality of the products because I still haven't received them. What I can comment on is the purchasing experience, and it has been one of the poorest I've encountered.

I genuinely hope Alpkit improves its customer support because, based on this experience alone, I would be very reluctant to order from them again or recommend them to others.

Alpkit in Inverness is an exceptional store, the staff are brilliant.
I bought my Sonder bike courtesy of much time spent and patience shown to me by 4 different staff members, especially Nick and Sean. I have since bought climbing and outdoor clothing and equipment, all with great advice and recommendations given by staff.
I am now deeply disappointed to find that Alpkit are closing their Inverness branch - leaving a 4 hour drive to my nearest store in Edinburgh! That's just not going to happen, so losing all the invaluable expertise I have been able to rely on from the folks at Inverness.
I don't think the team at head office have any idea of the impact on climbers, cyclists, and those of us who just love the outdoors of losing our Alpkit shop and the brilliant people who work there, they know so much about their given interests and the equipment that works best.
Inverness is a small place, those great advisers from the store are also losing their jobs - that's huge for round here, how much thought have head office given to their futures I wonder? Maybe offered jobs in an increasingly central belt/England centred world?
Truly disappointed - we may be able to go nice places Alpkit but not many good things happening thanks to this head office decision.

I was dismayed and saddened today to be told that the Invermess store is to close after 3 years solid trading.

What is Alpkit c suite thinking of?

Find a cave, a spider and think again, c suite.

The Inverness store has been made a great place on the way to doing good things in nicd places. Inverness Alpkit people are a talented knowledgable set of guidea and advisers on the whole suite of Aplkit kit.

The fact that the team have made such a huge impact for the Alpkit brand from an obscure location in Inverness, chosen by the C suite development team, is astonishing.

Invest in your colleagues Aplkit C-suite, find them a location in Inverness with a decent footfall.

Abandoning shareholders was one thing, but have a thought for the return on investment that your Invermess colleagues would generate from a good Inverness location.

And of course I have a self interest, Alpkit is in a hub of outdoor pursuits. Why continue investing in units kms from the hills and the water.

Don't give up on Inverness Alpkit please!

Just bought another el Camino gravel bike
after having it stolen. Great company and I hope they do well. I certainly like the gravel bike.

Great products. Good prices. Excellent warranty. Superb service - people who know what they're talking about, and actually real people to speak to online if needed (Ash was particularly helpful). Have a wardrobe of stuff from Alpkit - and will keep coming back.

Needed some repair patches which they don’t normally sell but they checked the warehouse, found some and sent them for free.
Can’t get better than that.

Was worried it was a scam. As close as it can get. I highly doubt it gets shipped from UK or even anything produced there as the delivery to Sweden takes the same as from china. Expect 20+ days for delivery. Haven’t received anything yet and probably won’t as I’m traveling tomorrow on a 1 month camping trip with a sleeping bag somewhere in a post office.

Just purely super disappointed, my worst E shopping experience ever and I have ordered from the states before without problems.

It took around 13 days before the carrier could even pickup the package from Alpkit.

0 customer service. Impossible to get a hold of what’s going on. To add on their shipping alternatives make me sick, the package was apparently in my town this Monday then sent to another town long a way, then they are going to send it back here. All while this is happening the courier are impossible to reach and get in contact with.

EDIT: Regarding the customer service its super nice that the staff at alpkit answers, and does that quick, but in a way the chain is not stronger than the weakest link. If the entrepreneurs you hire, and in a way their customer service you hire is bad, that affects the picture off the customer service alpkit has as a comapny. Especially if the company that hires the services their selves have problem contacting the entrepreneur.

But it may be that this is a small percent of orders, for me as a student that buy something once a year its a big deal. Especially when its this much money and the whole problem probably could have been avoided if not hiring the cheapest subcontractor when it comes to delivery.

Alpkit are one of a few amazing companies left! Always such a pleasure to deal with. Always so quick to respond to any queries. I have owned my Qark Headtorch for years and after owning a few head torches from different manufacturers, Alpkit torches are incredible in terms of build quality, brightness, battery life, features, value for money. You can’t go wrong buying from Alpkit

Superb service backed up with an old fashioned personal touch.

I broke the tent poles, from a tent I brought from Alpkit in 2015. Although initially the wrong replacement poles were sent, the customer service has been brilliant, considering the tent is 9 years old. Alpkit have done everything they could to find me replacement poles so I can continue to enjoy my purchase. Great company

Great customer service, albeit with some minor hiccups.

I don't generally provide review feedback, but given the outstanding support provided by the Alpkit team I felt it was entirely appropriate. I had a problem with a tried and trusted Alpkit tent requiring some new pole sections. Alpkit listened to my issue and agreed to locate the required poles from their store and send me replacements. Within a few days I was all sorted and extremely grateful. I know having dealt with larger brands I would have not received such great service from other suppliers - a great endorsement for Alpkit.
