Tried to charge me ฿80,000 (£1,800) for a minor wound stitch revision. Wasted 2 x ฿1,330 on 2 x doctors' opinions -- for nothing. Avoid!

Also, a friend was quoted an expensive $8,200 for cataract surgery, without even being told what lenses they would be fitting. High prices and unclear diagnoses.

Absolutely disastrous experience with Dr. Wipoo Somsuk – so-called foot and ankle “specialist” at Bangkok Hospital Phuket

Let’s be clear: Dr. Wipoo Somsuk, who claims to be a foot and ankle specialist, couldn’t even fill out a simple Thai visa extension form correctly. He got it completely wrong — no valid excuse, just plain incompetence. Honestly, it was embarrassing.

And how did he handle it? With the classic pass-the-buck medical routine: he immediately sent me off to a physiotherapist even more incompetent than himself, just to wash his hands of the issue and keep me spinning in their money-making machine.

The result? The physiotherapist gave me a completely inadequate rehab program for my post-surgical condition, which led to new damage to my tendons. Yes, the very tendons that had just been surgically repaired were re-injured — thanks to their “expertise”.

And this is what they call top-tier healthcare at Bangkok Hospital Phuket? Please. It’s nothing more than a soulless money factory dressed up as a private hospital. Patients are seen as walking invoices, not human beings. Forget care, forget competence — all they know is how to charge.

Here’s my honest advice: avoid this place at all costs. Save your money, your health, and your sanity. A shoemaker would have taken better care of my foot — and probably would have filled out the visa form correctly too.

Final verdict: stay far away from this hospital. If you care about your recovery, look elsewhere. And if anyone mentions “foot specialist”, run in the other direction.

In 2023 I reached out to Bangkok Hospital for cosmetic surgery to remove my Malar Bags, mid face lift and necklift. Prior to my surgery I was nervous and emailed the Hospital to confirm the Dr. had experience in removing malar bags and he confirmed yes in a Tele health video. The cosmetic surgery was totally unsatisfactory and he severed a nerve in my face. Also I had an infection behind my right ear and rope like keloid scars formed behind my ears. The malar bags were still totally visible on my face after surgery and my neck lift was lopsided. I had a stinging sensation as well as numbness from the severed nerve which continued into the next year and after complaining in many emails I returned to the hospital in good faith under a new surgeon to rectify the keloid scars and fix the neck and face lift with no promises on locating the facial nerve or any improvement to the malar bags in August 2024. Because it was the hospitals malpractice they should have covered the corrective surgery or even partial and at no point did I commit to paying for the 2nd corrective surgery but they charged me an exorbitant amount with the nurse extremely rude and forcing me to sign a document minutes prior to undergoing the corrective surgery when I was vulnerable, nervous and had a canular in my arm being prepped for the corrective surgery. So effectively they charged me double++++. Not including 3 sets of airfares, accommodation etc for appointments to sort out the issue. While the second surgeon managed to find and reattach the nerve in my face I am very unhappy with the procedure and my treatment from Bangkok Hospital. Total neglect and not one follow up to enquire of my health. They lied to me telling me they had a team looking into my complaint but never responded. It’s been absolutely disgusting how they have ignored me. Absolutely zero aftercare or follow up from either operation to enquire about my well being. This fact speaks volumes about the lack of professionalism or care from this supposedly World Class hospital. Absolutely disgraceful neglect. Your just a foreigner out of sight, out of mind and they want your money but after that there is nothing. I actually contacted lawyers in Bangkok who confirmed I had a case against Bangkok Hospital. But at this point I am not willing to spend more money fighting them. All I can do is tell the truth on as many online platforms for those seeking cosmetic surgery in Thailand and hope whoever reads this and was thinking of getting any procedure done at Bangkok Hospital….DON’T. Please go elsewhere.. I have all email correspondence with the hospital, proof of the exorbitant cost I have paid and lawyers emails including image of my severed facial nerve taken during the operation to reconnect it, to prove my experience is truthful. Stay away from Bangkok Hospital!
