I have been a Bargain Box customer and had an active subscription that I managed through the skip function when I knew I would be unable to afford deliveries for a period of time.
Over several weeks I skipped upcoming deliveries and, when prompted for a reason, selected that the order was “outside my budget”. I believed I had paused deliveries until I was in a position to resume them.
Unfortunately, my subscription automatically recommenced without any reminder or notification that a charge was about to be taken. I was charged $68.99 for a delivery I had not intended to receive, and this unexpected payment caused significant financial stress and impacted my ability to meet my rental payment obligations.
When I raised this with Bargain Box, they explained that their system had worked correctly because my skips had ended and no further skip had been applied. I understand their position, however my concern was never simply whether their system followed its settings — it was the lack of communication and safeguards around an automatic restart.
There are no confirmation emails when skips are applied, no clear customer-facing history of skipped deliveries, and no reminder before a subscription resumes and charges a saved payment method.
I appreciate that they did provide a partial goodwill refund after escalation, but ultimately the remaining charge was prioritised over retaining a customer who had actively engaged with their service.
I hope Bargain Box reviews this process, because a simple reminder before a subscription restarts could prevent customers being caught out and experiencing unnecessary financial hardship.I encourage anyone using the skip function to regularly check their account or cancel their subscription completely, as skips do not appear to remain in place indefinitely.

Ask them to cancel the order because payment hadn’t gone out. They said they couldn’t and they would offer me 20%. I told them that I would go into financial hardship even if I had 20% discount. They still didn’t care and told me that the collection agency would get hold of me if I wasn’t to pay. They seem to care more about their suppliers than their customers which is why they would not budge on cancelling my order. They seem to be happy to let people have financial hardship.

So thrilled with my Bargain Box Christmas meal. It was better than I expected. So easy to prepare - we fed 16 people - and everyone loved the selection. We were still eating ham 2 days later! Would highly recommend - even the packaging and ice packs which I replaced after two days so I didn't have to use up valuable fridge space. Top marks for convenience, deliciousness and price. Thank you Bargain Box - will definitely order again.

if i could leave zero stars i would , my parents continue to buy this yuck shit , every meal has zero seasoning on it , a clump of clay would have more flavour , i wouldn’t even give this shit away for free , i wouldn’t even feed it to my dog , he would probaly die from some type of unknown diese , can you please discontinue this yuck shit so they stop buying it , ps hello fresh all the way

First box turn up with ice pack gone split and over menu cards and all through box. Rice pack split all through the box. Told to go buy some rice and they won't send replacement. Stay away

If i could give zero stars I would. They took my money sent shit to the wrong address and refuse to issue a refund. Now I'm down $150 with 4 children to feed for the week. This company are no better than common thieves.

WARNING do not use their food bags as you will never escape. They charge you for bags without any notification, and then after I cancelled my account, 3 months later they have reinstated it and signed me up for deliveries again!!!! Deeply disappointing that a kiwi company such as this is engaging in such underhanded tactics.

Bargain Box has been an absolute life saver when it comes to feeding our flat. We used to be stuck with spaghetti bolognaise each week but new we have epic variety that even includes Fish. The recipes are easy to follow plus we usually always have leftovers for next day's lunch.

Charged me full price for a box that should have had a discount applied. Emailed me about 5pm on the Monday. I only seen this Tuesday .or ijg and contacted them straight away to tell them to either reinstate the discount or cancel my order. They said they wouldn't do either. Horrible customer service, confusing phone app and the pricing is only OK when it's discounted. All the meals have spinach and rice.

Very convenient and fast delivery. But unfortunately the meals the for 2 adults and 2 children were only 600gm of meat per meal. This is not enough, it's just mostly veges in each dish. We are a very meaty family so 800gm of meat per meal would have been better. Also we found there were no left overs, it was just enough or we had to add extra meat to make the meal more fulling. Not worth the money for our family unfortunately.

Sighed up for the first week $50 off and get BBQ pack for second week order. They didn’t send BBQ pack for second week so I called them and complained. Their excuse is that promotion expired on the day I signed up there is no promotion deal on the system.
I canceled my subscription. I don’t like their fake promotion to get new subscribers! And also vegetable is not fresh, average meals.
Definitely not a bargain box.

Thought we would give it a go to make life easier. But it was super bland meals and half of them seemed like they needed something else with them to make it more of a meal. one of them (pulled beef) tasted like catfood I quickly unsubcribed

Especially the Asian meals which are often inedible. Flavours are a let down. I subscribed to make life easier but it's not worth it. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

I wish I could give negative stars. Changed address, but they delivered at old place. Then I was promised a call back with resolution. NO CALL. So I called again and was told that they will deliver within 3 hours. It was never delivered, do they took my money for j9 food. Nadia lim absolutely is selling a lie.

Buyer beware. Be VERY careful as they will charge you for a delivery even after you cancel your subscription. Their "Customer Love" team will then tell you they cannot do anything about it and go on to charge you full price.
Disingenuous at best, dishonest at worst.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up with BB. But what a pleasant surprise.
The quality of the ingredients is right up there and the variety of the meals is to be complimented. Not a single repeat in almost three months.
Finally the convenience is what makes it for me....everything portioned out and ready to use without needing to plan and buy ingredients.
