I got given a free trail

I signed up for the free trial because I wanted to try the service before committing to a subscription. After signing up, I cancelled my subscription, but the website still indicated that my trial box would be sent. I intended to re-subscribe if I was satisfied with the product. Unfortunately, the box was never sent, and I was then informed that I was no longer eligible for the free trial. This experience has been very disappointing, and I will not be using this service in the future.

I've had a great experience with HelloFresh NZ. The meals are delicious, the ingredients are fresh, and the recipes are easy to follow. It makes meal planning and cooking so much simpler, even on busy days. I've enjoyed trying new dishes that I probably wouldn't have made otherwise. I highly recommend HelloFresh NZ to anyone looking for convenient, tasty, and stress-free home cooking.

The "Hotel California" of Meal Kits: You can check out, but you can never cancel.

If you’re tired of boring, straightforward online shopping and instead crave the adrenaline rush of a hostage negotiation, HelloFresh is absolutely the company for you!

I made the rookie mistake of placing a discounted order and then attempting to cancel it a mere five minutes later. Silly me, assuming a modern tech company would have a simple "Cancel Order" button. Instead, HelloFresh treats you to a complimentary Digital Escape Room.

Here are the premium "features" I experienced during my five-minute membership:

The Phantom Customer Service: You get the sheer privilege of navigating a chatbot maze to reach a human who never arrives. If you leave a clear cancellation message and log off to live your life, joke's on you! When I called later, they informed me that because I didn't wait indefinitely in the chat window for their royal confirmation, they are forcefully mailing me groceries against my will.

Aggressive Digital Pickpocketing: My invoice was supposed to be $69, but the card I used only had a $36 balance. A normal company’s payment system would simply fail the transaction. Not HelloFresh! Their billing system is so wildly dedicated that it just repeatedly hammered my card until it managed to scrape out the remaining $36. I didn't realize "just take whatever loose change they have in their pockets" was a standard corporate billing practice now, but you have to applaud the sheer, unapologetic desperation.

Aged-in-Cardboard Cuisine: The cherry on top was being told they couldn't possibly cancel my order because it is scheduled for delivery in three days. Let that sink in. That means your "fresh" ingredients are apparently boxed up and sitting in a warehouse for 72 hours before they even reach your porch. Aged to perfection, I'm sure!

If you are looking for a business that ignores your cancellation requests, randomly drains whatever loose funds it can find in your bank account, and holds your three-day-old food hostage... sign right up!

For everyone else: Stay far, far away. This isn't a meal delivery service; it’s a next-level scam.

My Hello Fresh Experience


My wife and I have been using Hello Fresh for 3 meals a week since the next door neighbour gave us a free box voucher in 2020 during the lockdown. We have enjoyed the tasty meals and variety of choice. I have learned to cook the meat while my wife always cooks the vegetables. The quality of the chicken and especially the beef strips always left a lot to be desired but I am happy to say that both have improved heaps lately (compared to West Gate PaknSave). I do think that your vouchers these days are a waste of time,-who's going to pay $80 for a "free" box? Actually, the main reason I'm writing is to let you know I really miss those tinfoil cooler bags you used to send the meat in. I am a fisherman and each tinfoil bag was used at least another 6 times to put my catch in before they were finished. The paper bags you use now are finished the moment they arrive! You could save the planet and go back to using something a lot more useful!!

Cancelled Subscription Call Follow-up 


Cancelled Subscription Call Follow-up * Beware*
My wife cancelled her subscription due to constant items missing & poor quality veg.
She took a call this morning from HF asking questions,why, rate service etc & 10 minutes of verbal diarrhoea, at no point was her account discussed or any request to re-activate her account or re-commence deliveries. After the call she received an email titled “Welcome Back” her account had been re-activated & deliveries re-instated ! This is illegal ! At no point was this mentioned, requested or agreed. She had to phone customer services to close her account again.
Bloody disgraceful.

Good all round

Good all round!
We have enjoyed the change from another foodbox. Costs are similar but we have really enjoyed the meals. There is a huge variety each week and I like the options to upgrade certain meals for special occasions.
I also love that I can swap box sizes ahead of time without needing to set a reminder to change them over and then change them back. Well done.

F ailed deliveries for 3 consecutive weeks

I live in Western Bay of Plenty. I placed my first week's order, and the funds were withdrawn so I was expecting an order only to later in the week to receive a text to say my order had been cancelled because they could not find drivers to deliver on Sunday. My regular delivery day was going to be changed to to Saturday effective the following week.

A refund was processed but the higher discount available on the first unsuccessful purchase had been allocated so I was required to contact the service centre to have that reinstated, which I did.

Then, the following Saturday came and went and nothing was deliverred. I checked my account and it said had been. So, again, I went through the terrible chat bot (apparently a human, but I don't buy it) to get a refund.

The third week was a repeat of the second with the app saying the order was delivered. The process of getting a refund was somewhat more difficult because they asked for my account number to process the refund (which had not been required the second week) and in the process of me getting the number, the chat disconnected so I had to re-restart the chat the following day to ensure the refund was processed.

I have had better experiences with Hello Fresh than this in the past, but three consecutive weeks of no deliveries and needing to deal with their 'agents' is unacceptable.

Non-existent service

Three times getting pita bread instead of ingredients. Unable to contact customer service - logging into the app and browser is difficult and not user friendly. Really when there is an issue it’s impossible to talk to someone or sort it out - no transparency on where I contact or to raise concerns.

You choose the meals you want, they arrive.
So easy and convenient. Huge bonus as it is less time spent at the Supermarket! No waste as you use everything in the meal kit. nothing left in the fridge going bad!
