Adult beginner swimming lessons
I’m taking adult beginner swimming lessons. The teacher is great, can’t fault her at all. She’s so inspiring and breaks down techniques so they are easier to understand. I’m on my third lesson and have already improved so much because of Amy’s teaching.
However, the lessons are overcrowded, there are too many people in the lessons and not enough pool space allocated for these lessons. This means we can’t practice swimming lengths really, as we just swim into each other, which really inhibits the learning.
Furthermore, the lessons have staggered start times, which makes it hard for the instructor to devote time to all in the class, especially when it’s already overcrowded. For example, I started at the start of the month, and we all had an induction. Two people joined the following week, who had never been in the water. The instructor had to spent 30 mins of a 45 min class giving an induction to the two newbies whilst we just did drills. Another person joined the third week and the same thing happened. There should be one start time, so the instructor can do one induction, and then devote time to all equally, and we could progress faster.
That being said, staff at the Aquatics centre are really lovely and I’m glad I signed up. Overall positive experience. Facilities are really clean too.

Lovely and helpful staff
Lovely and helpful staff and my son genuinely loves the service and feels comfortable with his lessons. The price for monthly swimming lessons on the site did not include booking fee which I had to pay for when booking for my son. Also, it would be nice to have a session for twice a week for people who wants more lesson time for their wards.

Amazing no long ques for admission for swimming lessons staff are really friendly and effective swimming lessons are fun for the kids n the prices are reasonable couldn’t be happier. :)

Adult swimming lessons
I am currently doing a group adult swimming class. I have a lovely trainer and things seem to be going well. I understand it’s hard to give one on one attention to each individual in a group, however, it would be nice for the trainers to actually be in the water with you. Kind of like when you go an exercise class, the PT shows you the move using the equipment. It just makes it seem less like instructions are ordered about, rather it shows care and attention. Especially with things like correct form and posture in the water.

Super friendly staff
Super friendly staff, great facilities and nice and clean all the time. Would have been a 5 but the classes are weekday heavy (when I work) and finish at 17:15 Friday, 13:15 Saturday and none on Sunday, when I’m free.

the cleaning standards were not very…
the cleaning standards were not very good to be honest. i really enjoyed the class & the teacher was great. it is just a shame the sauna & steam room area was quite dirty. i hope they can keep on top of the cleaning in future, then the cost of the membership will be more than worth it!

Multiple problems, no customer service
Multiple problems with this application. The staff at the Aquatic Centre are as nice and helpful as they can be, and the gym is good, but the issues stem from the Better application/company itself. For example:
- I go the gym frequently and there is always some issue with the application. This means I always have to wait by reception and reset the device every time (and this does not always work, and often the reception desk just lets me in). While making the booking is easy enough, the capacity to scan in and out is more or less obsolete, and wastes time.
- The interface and account/membership system is difficult to navigate and in the past this has resulted in me being charged double for months (e.g. due to to having to reset the device and make new accounts when changing memberships).
- There is no telephone helpline for customer service to speak to a human being at Better, which both contributes to the issues encountered in the first place and means the process to resolve them (e.g. receive a refund) takes much longer than needed. The emails are for members of staff at the gym itself - who try their best - but this is not helpful when the issue is with the Better membership system. Often the contact email I am given to resolve an issue is for the wrong person, which results in being passed around to several different people.
- If you want to make changes to your membership the process is long and drawn out. It often feels like the complexity is deliberate/part of the business model in order for as much money to be squeezed out as possible.
