Great workout at Southbury Gym
Have just visited the recently refurbished gym at southbury leisure centre. And WOW! What a difference.
Great selection of new machines.
The gym staff were very friendly and approachable and gave me some great workout and nutritional advice.
Will definitely be back

Fab softplay.
We've been visiting the centre for the last 6 months to take our young boys to softplay. They absolutely love it here.
We recently had a birthday party in the soft play area which was fab and everyone had a great time. It was lovely to see the cleaner up there cleaning before the party started.
The little "baby" section is a good size and I love that my toddler can't climb out of the area. It would be nice if there was a few more bits for the little ones to do in that area, but my toddler is happy enough if I throw a few balls in there for him.

Had my son's 4th birthday at…
Had my son's 4th birthday at the soft play. I didn't have massive expectations but it was just perfect for what we needed!
Parking is free, the layout of the soft play means that you can see where the children are at a glance- it's all self contained with a toilet facility inside which also has a baby change. None of our guests had to leave to use the toilet- so convenient for everyone.
We had full use of the soft play just for our party so we could bring balloons, decorations.
We had a party host who explained everything to us when we arrived which really helped!

The newly refurbished Southbury Leisure…
The newly refurbished Southbury Leisure Centre is fantastic! The gym has top-notch equipment for all fitness levels, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The team is always smiling and supportive, making every visit enjoyable. The ongoing pool changing room refurbishments are also exciting. Overall, this is by far the best gym/leisure centre in the area—highly recommend it!

Lots of antibacterial wipes,tissue…
Lots of antibacterial wipes,tissue towels and drinking water.And staff is helpful, kind and hard working.However the most of the customers doesn’t care about the hygiene and cleaning their behind,so most of those particular primitive customers need to be reported and banned from leisure centre. Therefore, because of those customers I have to give Southbury Leisure Centre four stars!

I just started 2 weeks ago
I just started 2 weeks ago, and so far, I love it. The classes are great, the new equipment in the gym makes a big difference, and the personnel at the reception are so helpful. The only bad thing is that the pool is dirty, as someone told me the filter is not working.

Poor facility and unhelpful staff
The staff are unhelpful and made me feel like I was causing a problem because I am a new member and trying to get used to the systems. There was no introduction or vital information shared. On my first visit I mentioned I was new and staff didn't give me any information and didn't even show me where the dressing room or any facilities were. When I did ask where the changing rooms were the receptionist said over there and waved her head in the opposite direction. The swimming pool area is dirty as well as the communal changing rooms. I went to use the ladies changing rooms and a male cleaner was in there. I went back to use the showers next to the pool only to be viewed by several parents fully dressed waiting for their children to finish swim club.
I tried to attend my swimming slot this morning only to be told after waiting several minutes that you can't have access after 10 minutes of your booking slot has started- again, never mentioned to me - as a result of waiting for someone to come and help I ran out of time and had to leave the center for work. Very disappointing.
Changing rooms smell of urine and hair everywhere.

Me and my children attended our first time at southbury leisure center. I am absolutely horrified at the service we received. I know this was all due to religious discrimination because there’s no way that every single person in that swim hall was just pure horrid for no reason. The girls at the front desk were absolutely beautiful honestly, their welcoming and customer service was so lovely and genuine. Unfortunately the teachers who were teaching at the pool today were so horrid. The treatment and communication towards all the children was shocking. Shouting at them and dragging them around the pool, telling them off. Absolutely shocking. The teachers did not even greet my children, not even a smile from any of them. The way they dealt with them was extremely uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I am absolutely horrified as I have never experienced something like this in my life. I stood there for the most uncomfortable 30 minutes of my life watching my children being treated like they wasn’t wanted there. There was grown men who didn’t have children there and who went for swimming, sitting on a wall in front of the kids pool watching the children swim (and we as the parents had to sit behind a screen as the sitting area inside was shut off ) which I found absolutely creepy as there’s no need for half naked grown men to be sitting and watching children that don’t belong to them. On top of everything , the two lifeguards (white man
and short white women with a pony tail) were giving me death stares which made me feel so uncomfortable, at one point the male lifeguard was talking about me on his walky-talky and even went on to describe me as I was watching my children swim , I heard it from another member of staffs walky-talkie ( I think in the cafe) . The center was filthy, there was hair and dirt everywhere. Parent’s are behind the screen so they can’t hear anything. I believe this is why the staff are getting away with this because no one can hear them! Teachers have no manners and no compassion. I pray my children don’t lose their love and confidence in swimming because of this horrid experience today. Will never step foot on that place ever again.

Staff were good but the leisure centre needs improvement.
Disabled changing rooms need more attention. Currently they are closed.

No air conditioning in changing rooms…
No air conditioning in changing rooms and gym ... always sweating. Most of the cardio machines do not work.

Aircon broken, not mentioned before joining. Machines out of use. No gym induction offered (probably because of the aforementioned issues).
