5 star for promt service, delivery & quality of footwear which I bought....but had to return due to poor fitting....women's shoes are too small....mens too big...

Outstanding customer service and all round pleasant shopping experience. The gent that served me had the thankless task of ordering loads of my summer trip stuff - maps, cookware and (to the dismay of the till) knife set too! He persevered with my order despite his till systems uncooperative mood, and was likeliest the kindest and most helpful person I’ve been served by. Couldn’t be more pleased and thankful!

Came to buy a backpack for my son for his DofE expedition - the young man that helped us was very knowledgeable and pointed is in the right direction for what we needed without any pressure to buy or upgrade. Other staff in the store also very helpful with useful suggestions on kit. Thanks to the DofE discount - which the staff happily applied when I showed them the school’s emails about the trip, even though I’d forgotten to download the card DofE provides - plus other good discounts in store, we got everything we needed at a very reasonable price. Overall a very positive experience; I’ll come back to this Blacks store again when I need advice on kit, and can happily recommend them to others.

I brought back a pair of shoes I had bought 6 months before with a defect covered under warranty. The staff were very helpful and refunded me straight away. Great service when choosing a new pair, and he pointed out that I could get a discount with my blue light card. Really good experience all around.

Robin was extremely helpful and gave me great advice to help me purchase walking poles and a sleeping bag. He wasn't trying to upsell for no reason and asked why I needed the items to ensure they were suitable for me - thank you!

And made sure I got the discount that Duke of Edinburgh participants can get when making purchases at Blacks. Both myself and my daughter commented on how nice the member of staff was. Great service, really helpful staff. On Good Friday I visited this branch of Blacks to buy some walking boots. I had previously bought some in Blacks in Keswick last September which have turned out to be uncomfortable and totally unsuitable when I tried to wear them in. Not only did the assistant give me helpful advice, when I mentioned about the other boots and asked if there was any way I could return them he went and asked his manager if this was possible. Result was I now have suitable walking boots and Blacks refunded the money on the other boots. Great service, I would highly recommend this shop.
