Poor handing of a relative's estate, which was not complicated but seems to have been dragged out for 3 years. Would not recommend

Maddison and Cerys at Boys and Maughan could not have worked any harder to progress my property sale. They were both very efficient and easy to contact throughout the process. I would definitely use them again

We was not a direct client of Boys & Maughn but the party buying our property was. Throughout the process, we could see there was issues from the initial enquiries as they was asking questions about our conservatory (we dont have one we was selling an apartment). They caused delays through the process even asking basic enquires right on the point where everyone else in the chain was ready to agree dates.
Then comes completion day. The buyer turns up unannounced at 12pm before they had the okay to, so I advise the conveyancer has not given confirmation of funds, he calls Boys & Maughn who are adamant they have been sent and the fault lies with our conveyancer. We wait. He calls them again still same story and they refuse to check with accounts to make sure there is no problem which I could hear on speaker phone. Too arrogant to check. 15:45pm I get cc into an email sent from Boys & Maughn to our solicitor admitting they have made a mistake with sending funds and they hadn't been sent.. 20 minutes later all okay to continue. This in turn being so late in the day caused a rippling issue which deemed us to become homeless and not completing on the day as contracted with a Luton full of belongings and a dog and cat to find home for the night. This was the Ramsgate branch and could have been avoided with a simple check with accounts. I've also unfortunately had friends and family members with similar experience with the same staff members being involved. Simply a lack of care.

Maddison and Cerys at Boys and Maughan were efficient and worked diligently to complete the sale of my house and to complete the purchase of my new property. My calls and emails were always answered quickly and I had complete confidence in their ability to resolve any and all issues.

We had a good experience with the Canterbury office of Boys & Maughan, specifically with Lesley and Kimberley working with us on our sale and purchase. We had very tight deadlines to try to adhere to set by our seller, and I really appreciated Lesley's no-nonsense approach and how clearly she explained things and took the time to discuss things with me over the phone. Lesley was always very honest about the process which I found helpful and reassuring. Overall I'm very grateful for all the work that Lesley and Kimberley put in to secure us our lovely home. Thank you both!

Boys and Maughan have been absolutely useless from day one. They think that because they are well established in Thanet, that they can rinse local residents with poor service, high fees, arrogance, costly errors and not even meet their own deadlines set by themselves. The experience with them has been absolutely awful, with lengthy delays, and attitude that given we have been clients for nearly 80 years seems to mean nothing to them. Do not use this company or any of its offices. Boys and Maughan have responded inaccurately saying I am not their client, but I am and so are my family and we have been for the many years stated. Do not trust them. I have been a client of theirs for over two years with no end in sight because of the issues above. I have evidence of bills for fees, multiple emails including showing their arrogance and can release these if they require further evidence. The fact that they feel I am not a client further shows their complete incompetence to do their job.

Very disappointed with the lack of communication from Ramsgate branch. Didn’t always respond to my emails on sale of my late father’s property. Twice I was asked documents that I had given them before weeks previously. Our buyers solicitor asked for an indemnity insurance. We agreed to pay half. Emailed solicitor many times asking if this had been agreed. Only found out it had when we got the bill. Found out more information on the sale from our Estate Agent. Wouldn’t use these solicitors again. They get so much work so they don’t really have to provide customer service

This company support the NHS and try to protect them from being sued for negligence and malpractice.

I approached them stating I would like to employ a solicitor and provide them with all the documents and medical records required to get the case started and they longed me off and then sent me a patronising email stating about time scales and deadlines which I already stated to them from the moment I approached them and they had me fill in paperwork and then blew it out the water leaving me no time to get a solicitor for my case.
Therefore proof that they support the NHS and try to protect them from being sued.

I contacted Boys & Maughan to get some advice about property issues. I spoke to Natasha in the Ramsgate office who was unable to help with the matter but said someone in the Margate office would get back to me....nothing

Well what can I say THEY HAVE NEVER GOT IN TOUCH TO SORT OUT THE FACT MY EX LIED IN COURT BUNCH OF MUGS DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY @ ALL COSTS THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY

I don't know where to begin here with Boys & Maughan, how TERRIBLE they are and the level of Very POOR Customer Service I have received when using this company when I sold my house back in April. This very low service is still going on and when I wanted to exchange contracts they dumped some **** on my lap for me to do before I can exchange. So its almost like I tell you ( B&M ) when you can exchange not the other way around.
Send an email but not get a response send another email still no response. Very poor company

Susan Jull at the Broadstairs branch had advised my father on various matters and also, supported me through the Probate process after he passed away.

I will not forget the professionalism and the kindness that she demonstrated to him or the support that she gave to me during this difficult time.

I had a particularly unique sale and purchase requirement that I needed pushed through quickly. After speaking with multiple local and nationwide solicitors and in the end I decided to go with Boys & Maughan Solicitors - Margate and I am so gad I made this decision.
They were fantastic from beginning to end. To be honest with all the horror stories you hear about sols I'm still in shock that everything went so well.
I was looked after by Melissa, Maddison and June. All were incredibly responsive, attentive and kind.
I couldn't recommend this company more. If you can get the aforementioned dream team then you are on to a double winner.

I was recommended Boys and Maughan to carry out the convening for my recent house purchase, and regret carrying on with them throughout the process.
After appointing them in April I was accepting of the fact that I was getting limited (or no communication) due to the stamp duty holiday at the end of June. Although receiving an email to say we will not reply to your emails or calls as an automatic email reply should have raised alarm bells to me early on. However as my purchase was not due to complete till September / October I continued with them.

Feeling somewhat hopeful the service was going to improve after receiving and email on the 1st of July to get things moving with my purchase (3months after appointment) it was soon to become apparent things going forwards would not improve. I would leave a week in between emails so as not to be an irritating client, I feel a week is an acceptable amount of time to get a reply and update. However, I would have to copy someone else in to get a reply. I think out of 6months I may have had 2 or at most 3 phone conversations. My questions did not get answered in a way I would have expected with documentation I should have received not being requested and other items I didn’t request being requested making the whole correspondence with the vendors solicitor difficult and drawn out. Resulting in me having to accept that regulation documents I should have been entitled to not being received. I was given no support to get the information I required just repeatedly told I would not get this. Paperwork I had provided was asked for several times. I was left waiting for answers and not told when my case worker was on holiday with no out of office emails, so left feeling frustrated when I did not get replies.

The list just goes on, finally topped off with the day of exchange when I was not told that exchange wasn’t going to happens despite me emailing twice during the day to check all was ok and then finally at the end of the day to ask why it wasn’t happening, no reply. I decided I would formally complain to a partner, to which a response of “we are sorry you feel you have to complain” was given rather than any acceptance of poor service. Furthermore I was told that due to the fact I was purchasing at the worst possible time due to the stamp duty holiday putting conveyancing solicitors ruin implying that these issues I was experiencing were actually my fault as I should not be purchasing a home at this time.

All in all this was a terrible experience from start to finish and from all members of the office I had the misfortune to deal with. In my experience Boys and Maughan are unprofessional and and should question their approaches to dealing with clients.

Maddison Ames and her team at Boys & Maughan were fantastic. I had a really difficult transaction between an utterly incompetent person at the property mangement company in charge of the leased property I was selling. The additional work this created for Maddi was insane but she took in all in her stride and continued to write very explicit instructions to help guide this person to providing the correct information required. I don't know what I would have done without Maddi, she was accessable on the phone and over email (despite COVID and working from home etc). She dealt with my sale and purchase during the busiest time under the craziest of circumatnaces and I could not have received better care throughout. I highly recommend her and will look to use Boys & Maughan again when needed in the future.

We have used Boys & Maughan for two house purchases now. We worked with Richard on the first purchase and the he was so helpful and the service so good that we returned 6 years later for support with our next house purchase.

This time we worked with Maddison who was also excellent. It was a difficult purchase for a number of reasons including additional challenges posed by the pandemic. Not only was Maddison very experienced, responsive and knowledgable but she truly went above and beyond to support us through a very challenging purchase - often times surprising us just how tactfully and skilfully she pushed all third parties to make sure it all went through. It really felt like we had a partner on our side through the process.

These girls are amazing! Maddison and Melissa were so friendly, professional and very efficient. I sold my late mother’s house and they really helped me understand the process and answer all my questions. I would highly recommend them, reasonable prices and a 5 star service.
