I have bought two dresses and another one ordered I also bought jewellery , bag and gloves they are made so beautiful , fit is amazing on the dresses.
Ordering online was easy and quick delivery , they are a lovely company to deal with
and I can highly recommend .
I will be ordering more .

Bought two dresses recently and the dip in quality is such a shame. Both dresses returned.

I had some difficulties with the system accepting my discount code, I contacted the customer service and they couldn't have been more helpful in sorting the issue out in a timely fashion, they were extremely friendly and supportive, I highly recommend British retro.

Fabulous clothes and fabulous service. I've been shopping with British Retro for five years now. In that time, I've purchased over 15 dresses, four petticoats and four skirts! Every piece is always made beautifully, there is clear attention to detail, and things are made to last. I've worn the first ever dress I purchased from them countless times, and it always looks great and washes brilliantly. I never get so many compliments as I do when wearing British Retro clothing. Their sizing is good, though I find I can't last a full day in the skirts (there's not much stretch in some of the fabrics, so after I've eaten dinner I usually have to undo the buttons, haha). This isn't a problem with the dresses, since loosening the belts always gives a good amount of room. Unfortunately some of the styles are too tight across the shoulders, but I think that's more to do with my broad shoulders than anything else. I do remember once they sold trousers, and they were the most beautiful trousers I have ever seen (sadly they were much too short and I had to return them!).

Over the past five years, I've only had two issues with shopping with British Retro. Once the wrong size skirt got sent out to me, and more recently the size guide online was incorrect so I unwittingly ordered the wrong size. Both times, Belle at customer service has been absolutely fantastic. Problems are always resolved quickly and politely, which keeps me coming back for more beautiful clothes! My only recommendation would be to bring back the trousers in a longer length! They were gorgeous. And also add some stretch to the skirts for us ladies who bloat after a big meal, haha.

When my dress arrived, I was blown away. The quality is outstanding, beautifully made, with such attention to detail, and it fits like a dream. The fabric feels luxurious, the cut is so flattering, and it has that timeless vintage charm that British Retro does so well. I’ve had so many compliments wearing it, and I felt truly amazing in it.
I can’t recommend them highly enough, for both their impeccable customer service and their stunning designs. I’ll definitely be shopping with British Retro again!

I purchased three dresses from British Retro across two orders, and sadly the quality and customer service have been extremely disappointing.
• On the very first wear, one dress lost four cuff buttons. I accepted only a £10 goodwill refund for that, even though it was clearly a quality issue.
• Another dress (the Bibi Ribbed Mint Full Circle Dress) developed thinning fabric, pilling, and even a hole at the seam after just one careful wear.

I reported these faults straight away and genuinely hoped to resolve matters through communication with the customer team. Instead, British Retro delayed their reply for 11 days, then tried to shift the blame onto me and only offered store credit—which is not compliant with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. A replacement or refund is the lawful remedy, not credit.

To make matters worse, I submitted a factual review of the faulty dress, but it still hasn’t been approved. Together with other reports of negative reviews being filtered, this raises serious concerns about transparency.

I really loved the designs and colours, which is why I gave the brand a chance despite the first fault. But after poor quality, an 11-day silence, and dismissive service, I cannot recommend British Retro.

Dress arrived with a mark on the front and they are refusing to refund even though returned within timescales claiming a belt hoop is missing. The item was returned with labels intact and same packaging exactly as it arrived. Shocking service. Having to put a claim in through paypal as this is totally unacceptable. Avoid.

i have always had excellent service from British Retro.
the clothes are very well made and i have to say they do make some fabulous dresses and skirts.
my latest purchase was a love heart skirt which is definitely the prettiest thing in my wardrobe!
i would highly recommend this brand. They are efficient, quality and unique designs.

I ordered a 1950s-style tartan dress and everything was great, I received it quickly and without any problems. For that, I would give it 5 stars. However, I am deducting 2 stars for the inability to communicate with British Retro. I lost the belt that came with the dress. I am a tour guide and I left the belt in a hotel in Scotland. I wrote to British Retro using the form on their website because I would like to buy a new belt. I have been waiting for a reply for a week. I called and left a message on the answering machine asking them to contact me. No response. Apparently, once a customer has placed an order, they are no longer important. It's a shame.

I don't normally write a review after buying something but I had such a great experience with British Retro from start to finish. Their customer service was phenomenal and the products high quality. I am delighted with my lovely dress and necklace. I will definitely be ordering again.

Quick response from customer service to my emails. Quick delivery (i'm abroad) and very good follow up of the parcel journey. The dress (way out west) fits perfectly, i couldn't wait to wear it - i love the swoosh and oh ! the pockets ! :-)
If we read carefully the description of the dress, its fabric and the size guide, you should find what you need - 100% coton (natural fabric : love it) so not strechy, if you hesitate may be take one size up.
i hope the Lottie Dungaree (or similar pinafore pattern) will come back one day - and wish for winter dresses with long sleeves in natural fabric (i have quite cold winters here and would love to wear comfy swooshy dress also during winter times) -

Bought a cartwheel hat thinking it would be good quality since it was three times the price of similar hats I’d purchased (and returned) elsewhere.

When it arrived, I was disappointed to find that it was identical to £10 hats sold by other retailers. Emailed and asked how I could return it and gave some feedback. The reply I got back was fairly arrogant, it said no other customers had an issue with the hat (I doubt this), they’ve sold hundreds, the price is correct and they didn’t intend to stop selling it.

I replied and advised them that I couldn’t care less a) what other customers thought and b) if they continued to sell it, I just wanted to return it.

This company markets themselves on their quality but this simply wasn’t my experience and any slight criticism makes them extremely defensive. They don’t seem to be running the most professional organisation.

This cost me almost a third of the value of the item in shipping and return costs so to have the attitude from ‘customer service’ was just the cherry on top of a bad experience.

Shocking service - you can never get a hold of them and they never reply to emails! Steer clear folks!

Bought a beautiful swing dress and petticoat last year , final got to wear it to the races this year. Comfy, light weight , well made . Delivery was quick and packaged well . I asked for advice on the style and colour of a hat which they kindly offered to go with the dress . All in all a pleasant online shopping experience, beautiful dress and petticoat, had a few Marilyn Monroe moments with the skirt which had us all laughing and giggling. I felt fab and had a few nice compliments , a different look to all the other dresses and outfits on show

Amazing dresses that fit perfectly, I cannot recommend these enough, the quality supases all the others on the market.

I ordered 2 dresses (to decide, which one fits better regarding to the real colour, sizing and pattern). Sadly (for my purse) to say, none will be returned :o)))
They fit like a glove. I appreciate the craftsmanship, relatively short delivery time (abroad - to Czech republic). You can also find variety of prints and colours on the website, so everybody can have their pick. For the customers - I'd recommend to read the sizing guide very carefully, as most of the dresses are cotton with very little elastane and would not give way (personally I'm used to wearing clothing more stretchy, so I had to take bigger size than usually). For the shop - it might be useful to place somewhere on the website, that they did not pay the VAT within the price, the shop is unable to give an IOSS number (this could help with quicker customs processing in EU). I'll definitely come back in future. Recommend to everyone! :)

Beautiful underskirt but sadly it didn’t work with the dress. I tried to start a return and it stated the item can not be returned. The web site is a little glitchy and on first attempt gave the impression that a return could not be done. After the company contacted me I tried again. Success! Thanks for contacting me. I shall be off to the post office today.

Returning customer, not just because of the quality of the clothes, but because the service is always prompt, efficient, and with good communication.

After my first order was disappointingly cancelled I decided to try again. I have to say that response to emails was very good and I was very happy when my second order arrived very quickly. The quality is exceptionally good and I will definitely be ordering again

Through no fault of British Retro but through the fault of Royal Mail my dress and underskirt arrived late. I had several email conversations with Belle at British Retro, she was extremely helpful.
After a few days my parcel arrived and I was delighted with the quality of my dress and underskirt.
I was also very pleased with how Belle supported me with my order throughout.
I would definitely use British Retro again.
