Dishonest sales policies
We chose a Burlington recessed sink and toilet but their tech support refused to supply a template for the counter top because we were not purchasing the vanity from their very limited range. They should make this clear on the website and stop wasting customer time.
Really disappointed in the BurlingtonâŠ
Really disappointed in the Burlington sanitary ware, we have had a bathroom refit 3 months ago and already the Burlington toilet seat has gone yellow with no use of harsh chemicals and lid always up when bleach used in the bowl, customer service not interested and trying to say we have made it go yellow using something we shouldnât have to clean, their product clearly arenât up to standard if they canât survive in a bathroom environment without discolouration! Wouldnât recommend buying these product, they charge premium prices for a below average product.
Hard to clean rimless toilet and seat
I bought a rimless toilet and toilet seat, toilet roll holder, vanity basin with wash-stand and taps and a dual shower as I loved the period looks and had seen there products used in numerous hotels and restaurants.
Not overly impressed with the weight and feel of the toilet flush handle, basin and shower taps and the toilet roll handle has to be regularly tightened.
My biggest issue is the basin has to be scrubbed daily, especially after brushing teeth. Every little piece of dirt, dusk or debris seems to stick to the white porcelain/finish which was described as the opposite. Not to mention the rimless toilet bowl. OMGoodness, it stains yellow after a few days and no toilet brush can reach the area so I have to put on rubber gloves and scrub with a scourer. I live in a soft water area and have installed 3 bathrooms in this one room and this has never happened or in the cloakroom toilet. Again I blame the finish/porcelain or whatever this nano coating is. Also after about 6 months the first toilet seat started to yellow and discolour. There is only 2 of us and we use another toilet more regularly. Also as I decorated this bathroom predominantly white, I bought and used clear, bleach and taint free cleaning products that had won awards for their eco benefits. The owner of the bathroom company was helpful when I complained but the Burlington rep wasn't and even went as far as to imply I was lying about the cleaning products I was using. As everyone else has mentioned, these toilet seats are expensive and are not even solid wood. I bought another as the showroom gave me a discount as I think they were embarrassed with the Burlington rep. Within the year that also discoloured and now I see its started to peel.
Yes the Burlington products look nice, but don't be fooled with their price that you're getting great quality. If I could re-do this room again I would and would avoid Burlington.
Their Customer Service have got it!
Hiya! So I wanted to write a review to let you know that my experience got sorted out! This could easily have been a 1 star review, but credit where it is due, Burlington is listening and sorting things out!
First of all what wasn't great: My mixer taps, installed two years ago, were making a groaning noise. I didn't know if it was the installation or the taps. Victoria Plumbing sent a completely new set of taps and I replaced, but it didn't fix the problem. Then I contacted Burlington direct and they sent me new "ceramic valves" and that did get things fixed. At last!
The feedback from Burlington customer service was an apology that the dog leg through Victoria didn't fix it, hardly surprising as Victoria deal with so many manufacturers they are hardly going to know about these details. Beyond that, Burlington now supply these ceramic valves into their taps rather than the previous ones. And to be fair their customer service solved the issue quickly and directly with the new valves.
Now of course, the original valves should have worked in the first place. Burlington have responded to fix that for anyone considering Burlington in the future. Also it could have been resolved quicker, but perhaps if I had gone direct to Burlington in the first place that would have happened?
In short, it seems to me the poor reviews are likely associated with the past beyond the last 12 months, it also seems as if something has changed for the better. From my experience it's clear that Burlington is responding well to the previous criticism and is now getting on top of Customer Service and these niggling product issues as a priority, good for them. My Burlington basin and taps look amazing (I have the wide 120cm basin and everyone comments on it) and now the issue is resolved I am very happy. Also for anyone looking to buy, the issue will not happen again because they have changed the valves to the ceramic version, which I now have which work perfectly.
If Burlington continue to improve in these small steps every day, they will start to add up really quickly and the red stars will turn green, like mine! Keep those small improvements coming Burlington, we notice and appreciate it! Anyone thinking about purchasing Burlington, look at the more recent reviews for a better handle on things.
Burlington âWoodenâ Toilet Seats
Having happily installed a Burlington toilet and cistern with good customer support I was very disappointed that the wooden toilet seat began to peel apart after just one years use. The seat was priced at over £100 pounds and as I actually found out later it was not solid wood but layered wood. Only natural products were used to clean it and only two people using it so not heavily used. Just shoddy materials and construction. No support from customer services this time and no refund as it was brought two years before. I was informed that they do not sell solid wood seats.
Burlington bathroom avoid like the plague
As so many others have said looks great and a price tag to match but the quality isn't there! Burlington bathroom but you deal with Crosswater for customer service. Paid £1250 for a dual bath and shower sysyem which broke after 3 and half years. Despite having the receipt, they wouldn't honour 5 year warranty because I'd not registered it online. Back and forth for a few months and the only help they offered was to pay 50% towards another companies shower to replace it. Please spend your money elsewhere and the company I bought the shower through won't be touching them with a barge pole so overall a loss of future customers.
Be warned about Crosswater and Burlington Bathrooms!
I'd really encourage anyone thinking of buying a Crosswater or Burlington Bathrooms (same company) bathroom to reconsider. Their customer service is horrendous. The lever on our very expensive shower literally fell off after 10months. Plumber confirmed it was faulty. That was in December 2022. We're now into our fourth month of emailing and calling their Customer Services. Emails just go ignored, calls are not returned (even when promised somebody will definitely call back the same day). Twice they have promised to send out the replacement part, but we still don't have it. Meanwhile we can't turn on the shower! Total shambles and makes me wish we'd spent 50% less on a non-Burlington suite.
Disappointed
Please I really want to encourage people to avoid buying a Burlington Bathroom Suite.
We had a new sink and toilet fitted just before Christmas and have to say it looked beautiful.
Since the fitting we have realised that the toilet it not fit for purpose. It is hard to keep clean and we have to use a toilet brush every time we use it.
We are now thinking of replacing it.
The brass taps have all discoloured. This has cost us a lot of money and we are so disappointed.
We purchased it from a third party company who we will talk to as they should not recommend Burlington.
Please read the reviews and listen to them. I wish we had.
Expensive and beautiful, doesnât last!
I bought a lovely black toilet from Burlington. It was not cheap but exactly what I had been looking for. The black toilet seat cost about £80 so it was extremely expensive. I thought I was paying for quality. Now 3 years later my toilet seat broke! It turned out to be made of cheap compressed wood.
HEALTH & SAFTY WARINING - AVOID BURLINGTON BATHROOMS
Where so I start with Bathroom Brands/Burlington. Having spent thousands of pounds on a full Burlington bathroom suite, the last thing I expected was for it to start falling apart. Honestly, the bath and toilet still work and look as you would expect. But sadly, the mirrored cabinet product number SM6015W has fallen apart already. For a product with an RRP of £389.00 and a 10 year guarantee we bought with confidence that this would be a sturdy product to finish the suite. I couldn't be more wrong. The unit was professionally installed around 8 foot in height at the highest point and after opening the door 5 months after installation, the two screws and plugs completely ripped from the cabinet itself and swung downwards to the sink below taking a chunk out of the Burlington sink. The damage that this has caused to the sink below after narrowly missing by partners face is the main reason for me having to warn others of this product in particular. Upon inspection the doors are held onto the unit using two thin 10mm on each hinge, there are holes for an additional two supporting screws which were not put in place in the factory. If you have this unit, I advise that you reinforce these hinges with supporting screws yourself as after correspondence with the factory, they do not accept negligence and state that this unit is safe and ready to install straight away. To make matters worse, Burlington/Bathroom Brands accused me of pulling the door off the unit myself and causing this damage to my £4k+ brand new bathroom. Stating - "It seems that there was external force applied onto the door which resulted in the damageâ This was the response from the company having shown them the damage by emailing detailed photos.
Having questioned the warranty further, I was told "the unit has been installed for 5 months and only now has come away from the unit." Which is quite astonishing considering that they have said 5 months and not 5 years. (10-year warranty remember).
After trying to come to resolution directly with Bathroom Brands, they sadly cannot understand that by this unit dismantling itself and cracking a solid sink, the potential risk this would be if it was to strike someone in the face or head.
To summarise
- Two thin 10mm in two hinges DO NOT safely support a mirrored door positioned 8 foot in the air
- Burlington WILL NOT honour product warranties â and will insinuate that you are a liar and that you caused the damage yourself
- Potential risk of serious injury is NOT acknowledged by Burlington/Bathroom Brands.
- If you own product SM6015W, reinforce the hinges using the support holes in the hinge that were negligently missed by the Burlington Factory. Keep pets and children away until you have done so or replace unit entirely with a reputable brand.
Honestly, I am absolutely gutted that I have spent so much money with this company and am just waiting for the rest of the suite to fail.
DONâT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID â AVOID BURLINGTON AND ALL BATHROOM BRANDS PRODUCTS
Avoid
Avoid , poor customer service, discoloured toilet seat although never used they blamed bleach! They wonât be around for long
AVOID !!!!!
AVOID !!! Bought a Burlington vanity unit for around £800 which has split inside the door opening and around the bottom of the unit after 18 months !! Contacted customer services to be told its not covered by the warranty as doesn't have a silicone seal between the unit and basin... absolutely nothing to do with the POOR quality wood splitting (at the bottom of the unit nowhere near the basin) I will never buy this rubbish again
This company has gone down theâŠlies and let down
This company has gone down the pan.Meant to be next day delivery but actually more than a week. It has lead to me having to cancel my 91yeR old Fathers visit as we do not have a working downstairs toilet.
They promised the part for next day, now telling me next week. I explained about my Father visiting and not able to get upstairs and was assured if delivery!!!
What a joke, you should be ashamed of yourself.
AVOID Burlington !!!
Burlington is the most overpriced rubbish iv ever fitted
Avoid at all costs
You are better off going to B and Q and they are bad.
Wooden Burlington Toilet Seat
I replaced our wooden Burlington toilet which dissolved itself in some areas after only 4 months of almost no usage. I can see here On Trustpilot that I am not the only one. I equally got a very offensive customer service response where I was told it my fault assuming I have bleached it although I clearly have not. The Burlington seat costs a fortune and should not be in the state I find it after just 4 months. The customer services just a disgrace! Very frustrating to say the least. I agree with previous comments to strictly avoid Burlington going forward. The warranty is not worth anything! A huge disappointment. Overpriced, bad quality and disgraceful customer service.
Poor quality
Fitted a complete new Burlington bathroom suite and after only two years, we are ready to rip it out and replace with Imperial.
The shower controls are flimsy and fall off the control valves at regular notice.
The 2 door bath screen needs new water seal and I canât get one.
The toilet blocks continually due to the restricted gap.
The bathroom sink cupboard and bath panel are already rotting away.
Overall very disappointed
Superb but for two areas
We have three complete Burlington bathrooms in our house, all three were fitted by professionals, we have been very happy on the whole the products are very good quality, the shower heads, rinses, taps and sinks are superb.
To me there are a couple of issues with standards that really do need addressing.
The first is toilet seats - they are just not up to the mark and certainly not at this price, the chroming on two of our the toilet seats blistered very quickly and a warranty replacement is doing the same, I can assure you we don't use bleach or aggressive chemicals on the chrome work or seat.
One other seat which was white turned yellow under the lid -maybe a reaction from bleach fumes in the toilet but would that not be something it should be suited to ?
Now one of the baths, a great bath but the chrome claw feet have blistered badly!
A bathroom should be able to handle normal use, chrome on a toilet seat should be the same standard as it is a tap if you paying more than double the usual price for a toilet seat.
My suggestion is either drop the chrome or get the quality improved.
Second area - Minerva tops my sink has cracked around the plug hole, it was fitted and not used for a year, then one year after using it cracks appeared, I polished them and they faded but another year later and they're growing longer deeper and appearing further up the sink, now we need a new worktop and sink and its looking terrible and likley not in warranty as the company we bought it off (Simply- Burlington ) has gone bust.
You are 90 % there Burlington but sort these issues out and you will be top of the pile in this price range

British Name âBurlington Bathroomsâ.
Expensive products made in China.
Disastrously incorrect instillation instructions and a customer service who couldnât care less. Also parent company for Crosswater. Purchase at your expensive peril
We installed Burlington products in 3âŠ
We installed Burlington products in 3 bathrooms as part of a major restoration of our victorian house. Never again would I purchase a single Burlington product. Two years later I can confirm the quality is shocking, with dispite constant cleaning, there's bad discolouration to all the ceramic sinks and toilets that just won't come off, all the plug mechanism have failed and needed replacement. The showers handles are constantly falling off.We had a small cloakroom replaced at a similar time and used products from Screwfix, after two years the ceramic sink and toilet are still perfect white,so it's not our water! Planning to rip out our Burlington bathroom products after only 2 years.
Do yourself a favour save time hassle and money by choosing another manufacturer.
BEWARE burlington tap purchase
I bought a Burlington tap, it came missing the tap head, and I was advised I have to buy that separately though not clear on the website and not easy to find tap heads! when I did, I saw I have to buy TWO expensive tap heads for the SINGLE mono tap.. and both the retailer and Burlington do not care, just like robots, they keep repeating without a single apology, that they come in pairs at the factory! AVOID
