Thank you Sammy Cooper for helping us through the process of starting to rent in Kidlington. We are a large group of 6 sharers and so far Sammy has done a great job making sure we stay on top of the required paper work, and suggesting the property to us in the first place.

Great knowledge and communication throughout

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Chancellor and, frankly, expected far more from a company of this size and reputation.
Our tenancy process took 56 days to reach a final signed contract, despite making it clear from the beginning that we were ready to sign ASAP. The entire experience was marked by delays, poor communication, disorganisation, and a concerning lack of professionalism.
The agent handling our case, Samantha, appeared unsure of the process from the beginning. During our first property viewing, she arrived late. We promptly submitted our tenancy application form, yet she took approximately 15 days to move the process forward. Even more concerning, not all of our information was properly entered into the company’s system, which resulted in multiple staff members repeatedly calling us to request information that we had already provided in full on the original application.
When we initially submitted our documents, Samantha assured us that we had provided “more than enough” and that no further documentation would be required. Then, approximately 20 days later, we were suddenly informed that the documents were insufficient and that additional paperwork was needed. We had to rush against the clock to obtain everything requested.
Throughout this period, calls were ignored, emails frequently went unanswered, and communication was extremely poor. At one stage, we were told there had been an IT issue and that emails had not been received. However, interestingly, whenever I called from a different number, the phone was answered.
The manager of the Kidlington branch, Zsofia, was unfortunately unable to assist with any of our concerns. Beyond that, I found her attitude unnecessarily arrogant, dismissive, and rude. On one occasion, when I politely asked, “Aren’t you the manager here? Could you help me?”, she simply rolled her eyes and refused to respond. I genuinely struggle to understand how a company of Chancellor’s scale accepts management behaviour of this standard.
James, who handled part of the tenancy progression by email and phone, was another source of frustration. Emails and calls were often ignored, and the tenancy agreement itself was repeatedly prepared incorrectly. We had to re-sign the contract six separate times because errors continued to appear. In the final days before move-in, there seemed to be a sense of panic because we were due to move within 48 hours, yet nothing had been properly finalised. Having no definitive contract just two days before moving is simply unacceptable customer service.
Before moving in, I specifically asked Samantha to ensure that the property would be properly cleaned and ready for our arrival — the absolute minimum any tenant should expect. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the house was dirty and full of spiders, giving the impression that basic preparation had not been completed.
To make matters worse, three days after moving in, another employee, Lucas, called asking why our rent had not been paid — despite the payment having been completed six days earlier. This gave the strong impression that either the company lacks an effective internal system or suffers from serious internal communication failures.
Overall, this experience was exhausting, stressful, and deeply disappointing. When choosing Chancellor to help secure our next home, I expected efficiency, professionalism, and competent communication. Sadly, our experience delivered the exact opposite.

Sammy has been excellent so far with our application and has been super helpful explaining the full process! Looking forward to getting the deal done now! All of the team were really friendly in the branch when I came in with my partner and daughter! Sofia was really great too!

I had a great experience during the viewing of the property as Samantha took us round the premises, answered our questions satisfactorily. In my subsequent telephone conversations with her she was patient with me in explaining the application process; kept her promise to get back to me as soon as she hears from the landlord; and, overall, she was polite and professional.

Received excellent service, from the very beginning communication was clear, timely and incredibly helpful. Every question I had was answered with professionalism, which has made the whole process feel stress free.
I was kept updated at each stage, I never had to chase for information and always felt informed about what was happening next. Sammy's friendly approach and attention to detail gave me real confidence that everything was being handled properly.
Overall , the service was outstanding, I am really grateful for how easy Sammy made the whole renting process. I would happily recommend Chancellors to anyone looking for a reliable and communicative estate agent.

The communication has been extremely poor. While in the process of buying a flat, I have attempted to contact them several times and received no response at all. This has been very frustrating and unprofessional.
