Very disappointing experience with this rental company.

The car itself was in perfect condition and we had no issues with it during the rental period, and our full deposit was returned without problems. Unfortunately, the customer service was extremely poor.

Due to a flight delay, my girlfriend had to collect the car and sign the contract, making her the only authorised driver. During the collection, the staff member was rude, shouting on the phone instead of calmly explaining the situation. We were charged an extra €125.91 simply because the booking was made for 14:00 instead of 13:58, plus another €148.60 at the office, on top of the amount already paid online. No one clearly explained what these charges were for.

We were also charged for insurance again, despite already paying an insurance supplement online. On top of that, no return instructions were given (fuel policy, cleaning requirements, etc.).

When calling customer service to arrange the return (because the only authorised driver had a 6 a.m. flight), I was hung up on multiple times, received no solution, and was even threatened that my number would be blocked if I called again.

Ironically, when speaking directly to another employee at the parking office, he solved the issue in less than two minutes and confirmed that returning the car at 4 a.m. and leaving the keys in the drop box was absolutely possible.

This says everything: the problem was never the car, but the lack of transparency, poor communication, and unacceptable customer service.

I have booked a car through CarJet website, and CityGo was a provider. Total booking amount was 222,81€ (including child seat for two days). I paid online 40,81€, and needed to pay additionally upon pick-up 182€. However I was charged 275,02€, and I noticed it later in the day. During rental period I tried to contact the office via Whatsup, email and phone, I did not receive any reply even though on a phone they promised to reply. In addition to this, they could not do a deposit on my credit card, even though I had available balance. Deposit was 4.100 EUR, but in voucher it said 3.800 EUR. Due to their error, I was forced to purchase additional insurance. The company said it is 51€ a day (so for two days 102€), but again they charged me more- 149,86€.

Despite being advised upon booking to buy the platinum insurance cover through Car Jet and providing proof of this to City Go, they make you pay over the top for their own insurance. This is not a choice.
They put half a tank of petrol in for you but charge you double the cost of this. We didn’t even use a quarter of a tank.
Several other hidden charges.
Tried to show the man the policy to disprove the charges and he refused to listen but wouldn’t let us cancel our booking once we had paid. Stuck with a poor quality car for over the odds prices. Don’t be fooled by the appearance of cheap prices online. Go with a more reputable company!!

Dishonest practices in every way imaginable.
They charge for half tank 49€ when the fuel deposit cost the same.
Security deposit was 1400€, not the information existing when the reservation.
They charge taxes and more taxes, the car costs 80€ and you pay 200€ in total.
License should be revoked.

Please believe the other bad reviews on this site, those who had a good experience with this company must’ve just been lucky. On arrival I was slightly over the hours grace they give you due to flight changes and because of that they charged me another hundred pounds on top of the original fee and gave me a car that wasn’t as good as the category I had originally booked. I find the way they did Business was fundamentally dishonest as you start with a low fee to book originallyand then pay for it afterwards.

A fuir... avril 2026...Rien n'est clair..louer via carjet qui n'en a rien à faire...voiture au moins de 15 Ans.. boîte de vitesse automatique pathétique... Pression des pneus à refaire.. essuis glasse mauvais... Climatisation mauvaise..
Quand j'ai ramené la voiture on me signale des mini rayures ? ?? 442 Euro... L'essence, une belle arnaque... Enfin j'avais pris une assurance à la réservation j'espère qu'elle va fonctionner... A fuir

J'ai loué via Carjet sur internet du 21 au 28 février 2026 pour un séjour à Malte.

Tarif super attractif car j ai payé 22,38€ pour 7 jours de location avec une opel corsa,
en fait 2,22€ sur Carjet.com pour garantir la réservation, le solde de 20,16€ à payer sur place.

Arrivé à l aeroport max 2 personnes dans le bureau de Citygo et une queue dans le couloir...

Comme j étais arrivé au comptoir à 16h15, je dépasse de 15 minutes les horaires d ouverture on devait ainsi me facturer 29,50€ de frais de traitement hors période d ouverture. Ubuesque!

Au final voici ce qui m a été facturé au comptoir:

1) Rental Fee = 20,16€ de paiement Résiduel de location

2) Location Fee = 25€

3)OOH/DEL & COL = 25€

4) FUEL = 48,50€ D essence
Exorbitant car l essence est peu chère à Malte.
On vous rempli le réservoir à moitié et il faut retourner le véhicule avec réservoir vide.

5) taxes de 9%

Total : 127,66€

Je ne sais pas ce que sont les points 2 et 3 mais on est bien au dessus des frais de 29,50€ concernant les frais de traitement hors ouverture du bureau. Un bureau d aéroport qui ferme soit disant à 16h00 je connaissais pas...surtout qu il continue de travailler...

Je laisse une caution de 1800€ avec ma carte bancaire Visa PREMIER (franchise maximum en cas d accident/vol/dommages.

Je ne prends pas d' assurance car comprise dans ma carte bancaire.

Pendant le séjour, j ai accroché un petit rocher (petite bosse et des eraflures)
et il m'a été SCANDALEUSEMENT facturé 914,50€ !

Voici le détail :

Forfait de 700€
Frais de traitement (ben voyons!) de 75€
Taxes de 18% soit 139,50€

Je suis en train de me battre avec le service Assurance de VISA PREMIER pour un remboursement  de ces 914,50€ et j'ai bon espoir. Faut bien garder TOUS les documents.

Le forfait appliqué était de 700€ pour les dommages et je m'estime heureux qu'ils ne soient pas allés jusqu au plafond de 1800€.

J'ai aussi eu un PV de 23 euros pour franchissement d une ligne continue au niveau de la grotte bleue. J ai payé cette amende via internet mais je m'attends à des frais de traitement.

Alors certes, si aucun dégâts au véhicule et aucun PV d' infraction au code de la route, cette location me serait revenue à 130€ pour 7 jours.

Mais avec des si......

il y a eu de sacrés impondérables à mon
égard.

A mediter...Rouler à gauche avec des rues parfois très étroites et un petit accrochage est vite arrivé.

Cette société de location CITYGO est championne de l'arnaque aux touristes...

The worst car rental experience ever. A rude employee carged us 2,5 times higher price than we had in our rental agreement with carjet. Both cars were old and damaged, and the estate had so worn tyres, it would have been dangerous in wet weather. THis is nothing but a scam company. Stear away!

I would give zero stars if I could. This is the worst switch and bait experience I have ever had. When I booked the car, I was told there would be a late arrivals fee (I booked from Malta airport). When I got there I was told that due to the fact I was paying with a debit card they would have to charge me an extra €30 per day for comprehensive insurance, even though their terms say: “ Our rates include Comprehensive insurance, Third party insurance, local tax (vat), unlimited mileage, 24hr road assistance and breakdown service*, road licensing fees, vehicle maintenance.” That basically added €150 to my rental fee. Then they added a €25 “location fee” which is basically a surcharge for picking up at the airport. This is something that should have been declared in the initial booking, since it was clear that’s where I was picking up! But no, it’s in the fine print of the terms. To top it off, they pre-charge fuel at an exorbitant price (€68 for an half tank of diesel) and you don’t get any money back if you return the vehicle with fuel left. And then: the vehicle was so disgustingly dirty and old, I kept getting tyre pressure warning and it felt unsafe to drive. Altogether a horrible experience. I could have gone with a reputable brand rental agency and paid less this with better car quality and service.

Dishonest practices in every way imaginable. Fuel policy is a scam: Car provided with half tank, which is charged upon pickup at fantasy fuel prices. When car is returned, no refund on remaining fuel.
Security deposit was increased to 2500 EUR, even though written contract stated 1800. Staff extremely rude and not helpful. Literally told me "it's your problem, not mine". Reported to Malta tourism authority and airport. License should be revoked.

Jai louer une voiture à Malte 5 au 12 octobre 2025.
Cette agence est à fuir , arnaque.
On vous fait payer des frais en plus, alors que vous avez pris toutes les assurance via Skyscanner.
Sur le site de l'agence Citygo il ne précise pas qu'il faut une carte de crédit, et pas de débit. Donc vous payer des frais en plus environ 250€.
De plus prenner bien des photos de toutes la voitures. Parce qu'au moment de la rendre le gars regarde quasiment a la loupe et avec la lumière du portable .....
De plus le vehicule n'afficher que 5000km était dans un état lamentable .

Il prezzo dell auto x due giorni era di 36 euro con aggiunta assicurazione si arrivava a circa 70 euro. Abbiamo dato l anticipo di 26 euro e il resto da pagare in loco. Invece una volta arrivati ci hanno chiesto un extra di 70 euro e in piu lasciare una caparra di 350 euro. Abbiamo rinunciato all auto perdendo l anticipo

We had the worst experience possible with a car hire for CityGo that had been booked via CarJet!
I would never recommend using CityGo!!
Our car hire was cancelled without our consent, and because it was done so by the customer service representative after the pick up time (we were NOT late) we were refused any refund!
It appears to be a scam that they are using!!! We certainly weren’t the only ones to have left that office upset that day!
They place extra fees and charges onto your hire and when you question them they cancel the booking and refuse to discuss the issues.
It was absolutely the worse start to our holiday in Malta

Innanzitutto abbiamo prenotato una macchina e ci hanno dato un catorcio che neanche funzionava menomale che era automatica appena toccavo l acceleratore la macchina saltava perché gli ammortizzatori erano molli in più era un auto vecchia e tutta graffiata. In agenzia ci hanno fatto pagare molto più del previsto hanno messo tasse aeroportuali e locali mai menzionate in fase di prenotazione più ci hanno fatto pagare 50 euro di carburante per mezzo pieno e anche questo non ci era stato comunicato prima.Per un presunto graffio a detta loro fatto da noi, cosa assolutamente non vera, nonostante abbiamo pagato un assicurazione di 35 euro al giorno
abbiamo dovuto pagare ulteriori 350 euro per questo presunto danno.

If I could give zero stars I would. Charged an airport surcharge, for a booking make for the airport. It was never stated during booking or on the voucher. Charged 50 euros for half a tank of fuel when the car costs less than that to fill a full tank.
Charged an out of hours fee for returning the car within office hours again never stated anywhere on booking.
Office very unhelpful

Scam! They charged me whay moore than expected price! They charge double for full tank of fuel, and for insurance even though we already paid for I when we did the booking online. Can not rekommend!

This company is completely scam, I rented it through jetcar service and I bought insurance from them, but when I arrived they charged from me extra insurance 25 euro per day + they charged 45 euro for half tank of petrol, when it costs only 20 euro for the same amount on every gas station. Also they declined cancel out of working time fees because it was added by mistake and I told them about this.
So the full price grew from 160 to 450+ euro. Avoid this company.

Je ne possède pas de carte de crédit mais il est possible de louer en prenant l'assurance fournie par Citygo pour un coût total annoncé de 109€ pour un kya Picanto
A l'arrivée, j'ai réglé comme prévu les 109€, plus 1 demi plein d'essence au prix du plein complet soit 48,5€ pour 17 litres. On se fait bien arnaquer avec l'essence, vous pouvez rendre le véhicule avec réservoir vide, comme si on pouvait le prévoir. Louer avec un réservoir plein et le rendre plein serait plus honnête mais bien évidemment moins lucratif pour l'agence.
Et j'ai été obligé de prendre une assurance supplémentaire à 17€ par jour, alors que lors de ma réservation l'assurance était inclus dans les 109€.
Ce n'est pas terminé. Au moment de rendre la voiture, le loueur me montre des rayures sur l'aile (évidemment elles n'étaient pas noté sur le constat de départ). S'ils peuvent encore vous soutirer de l'argent, ils ne vont pas s'en priver. Heureusement j'avais toutes les photos.
Coût total de 7 jours de location:
223€ plus l'essence.
Le prix a doublé.
Franchement, me déplacer en Uber m'aurait coûté moins cher.
