I've rented a car with this company and the experience was a dissaster:
1. The car was old and it was not clean when I took it. The water from the front glass didn't work and the driver's car mat was wrong, so it was risky during the driving.
2. I took total insurance with them because I showed how they dealt with a man dropping off the car. They told me everything was included, and that was written in the contract. I had a tire puncture and then, they told me it was not included. When the girl was explaining me the covers, she marked the most common ones, and then, they argued that those marks meant the ones not covered.
3. Therefore they wanted to charge me extra money and also because the car was not clean (as when I took it).
4. The police had to come and after an hour talking with them and with the embassy I could go without paying any extra charge.

No one welcomed us, or explained us anything. People were waiting for hours! There was a group of woman waiting for 5 hours before us to get their car. Also 3 groups of people waiting to return their car. When we asked for how long it might take other customers told us how they got scammed by these people. Bringing up a higher fee, or claiming they went out of country bounds, or driving more km while having unlimited km. We suggest to not book with this company! It might be tempting because it’s cheap, but it’s a big big scam! We left and didn’t go through with our booking after waiting for more than one hour.

We rented a car from CITY Rent a Car in Tirana and had a very bad experience.

We were clearly told that 198€ was a refundable deposit. After returning the car with no damage, they refused to return the money, claiming it was "insurance".

This was never properly explained. The main contract was not even signed by us, and we did not give informed consent to purchase any insurance.

This is misleading and dishonest behavior. Be very careful — they may tell you something verbally and then charge you differently.

We will be reporting this case to European consumer authorities.

Avoid this company.

I have booked a car for a week, when we finally found their office, which is really far from the terminal, they wanted us to pay extra insurance , even though I already had one. Also wanted to keep £1500 deposit for a month following the return of the car.
Left them without picking up the booked car and found a different rental company.

Stay away! This company (look out for their other logo, United Car Rent) uses retaliatory tactics. Because I refused their insurance, I was downgraded to a high-mileage (300k+ km) Skoda 2litre diesel that smelled so bad it ruined my clothes. After dealing with the unbearable stench for the whole trip, they had the nerve to charge me a €20 cleaning fee at drop-off for a car that wasn't even dirty outside. Unethical and unprofessional.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Scam Warning – Avoid City Rent a Car & Discover Cars

City Rent a Car in Albania is a scam. They forced us to pay for “mandatory” insurance in cash even though we had our own coverage, gave us a damaged car, and then tried to charge us for a parking ticket from before we even rented it. When we returned the car early, they refused any refund.

To make matters worse, Discover Cars has been no help at all in resolving these issues — they sided with the rental company despite clear evidence.

Save yourself the stress: avoid City Rent a Car and book directly with a reputable company instead of through Discover Cars.

Via VIPCars, I booked a rental car online with City Rent, and, on the same day, my credit card was charged.

Upon arrival at the agreed pick-up location and time (Tirana Airport, 12:00, office of City Rent) neither the reserved vehicle was available nor was a replacement offered. The staff, a young woman, did not show any interest but told me to wait. However, there were two other persons already waiting for their reserved cars which were not available. Never again!

Worst car rental company in Albania – avoid at all costs.

We booked a small car (Golf or similar) and got an old, unsafe Passat with over 280,000 km and engine warning lights. The car had no valid insurance (confirmed by the police in an official fine), which is completely illegal. Later, the car broke down (belt snapped), and instead of helping, the company tried to scam us by demanding we pay double the police fine so they could pocket the difference.

They harassed us with phone calls and even made threats about cancelling our flight – total nonsense. These people are dishonest and only want to steal your money. Stay away, this is by far the worst rental experience in Albania.

Nous avions réservé une Ford Fiesta mais nous avons eu la célèbre voiture jaune (Cf. les nombreux commentaires sur Google) une Skoda Rapid jaune.
Elle fête fièrement ses 360 474km !

Le voyant défaut moteur est allumé en permanence ainsi que celui du défaut Airbag conducteur. La climatisation est aléatoire et de nombreux équipements intérieurs sont sales, cassés ou défaillants. La trappe à carburant tient avec du scotch !

Ne comptez pas sur l’agence du centre-ville, elle n’a aucun véhicule et vous renvoie vers l’agence de l’aéroport.
Le personnel (très désagréable) a la combine du "Cash only". Ils vous annoncent que le TPE ne fonctionne pas (observée également sur une famille française avant nous). Après 1h45 d’attente et de discussion, nous menaçons d’annuler la réservation et là, bizarrement, le TPE re-fonctionne et nous avons pu payer avec une VISA. Probablement que pour se venger nous avons la voiture la plus pourrie du parc !

Nous avons récupéré notre caution 3,5 semaines après notre retour.

Via holidaycars geboekt, maar die zetten hun boeking door naar cityrent. Echter zonder inhoud. De auto die gekozen was, was gewoon niet aanwezig. Alternatief een kapotte of veel te kleine auto. Helemaal opgepropt met veel onderlinge ruzie de vakantie door. Daarnaast extra fees voor dingen die gewoon in de originele boeking zaten. Maar hulp om iets samen op te lossen, ho maar!

Scammers! Avoid this company AT ALL COSTS!

I booked a car rental for August in Albania through Do You Spain/Car Jet (which has the same level of sh*tty service). Thanks God I decided to WhatsApp the City Rent a Car Sarandë beforehand, because I found out that all the conditions that they advertised in Do You Spain/Car Jet website were false:

1. they advertised in Do You Spain/Car Jet website that the first additional driver was included, but to me in WhatsApp the supplier said it was NOT (they even told me that the first additional driver is me - I was supposed to be the main driver, not the additional -, clearly showing that they do not know what "additional" means);

2. they advertised in Do You Spain/Car Jet website that they offer an insurance (NOT an online insurance, but their insurance to be bought at the pick up counter) to remove the excess for 8 euros/day, but to me in WhatsApp they said that they do NOT (and when I accessed their own website, I saw that they advertise there too this insurance for 8 euros/day).

City Rent a Car kept refusing to accomplish the conditions that were written in my rental voucher and that were advertised in Do You Spain/Car Jet website and in their own website, even after I sent them a lot of proofs showing that this is what was adverstised and, by law, they should accomplish what they advertise to customers!

After sending them an irrefutable proof of what I was claiming, they simply stopped replied to my messages!

SOOO DISRESPECTFUL! AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS, if you do NOT want a big headache to be treated like a fool!

Edit: they only replied after I posted the review here to say that they are not being able to make the refund, because my bank is declining it, what is NOT true at all, because I contacted my bank and they said that there is NOTHING in their end preventing Do You Spain to refund my money. What about the interests that I am losing due to Do You Spain total dishonesty? And AGAIN, they just stopped replying to my messages. LAME SERVICE with DISRESPECTFUL AGENTS! DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING using their website.

J'ai réservé un véhicule avec garantie. Lorsque je suis arrivé sur place on m'a dit qu'elle n'était pas valable et ils m'ont fait payer une une autre garantie sans me rembourser celle déjà prise..
Maintenant j'attends de me faire rembourser. Responsable pas aimable, on vous aide pas à trouver la voiture.
Je recommande pas la location chez "CityRent a car".

Avoid this company... We booked a premium Automatic SUV (BMW X5) for our trip to Albania. This location said "Airport Location". When we arrived we were send a video showing how to walk to the location which was 15 minutes off Airport, and down roads with no pavement... with luggage and baby in a buggy! When we arrived it was a container at the side of the road... and the cars were in terrible condition. the BMW X5 they had was from 2010, dented all over, scratched, illegally bald tires... list goes on. We said it was not acceptable considering we had paid for a premium SUV... They had nothing newer except for an MG SUV which was manual... which is not in the same premium class, and was a manual. We asked them to cancel the booking so we could go and find another company, and they passed the buck to the online rental company. We then spent the next 10 days trying to get our money back from both companies and both trying to accept responsibility. in the end got our money back through the credit card company. Would recommend avoiding this company.. poor quality and all old cars, and terrible customer service. There are lots of other car rental companies as soon as you come out the airport with newer cars.
