I used to rely on CNET quite heavily

I used to rely on CNET quite heavily for tech reviews and buying advice, but over time the quality and trustworthiness of the content seems to have slipped. Articles feel more generic, sometimes outdated, and not always written with real user experience in mind.

I’ve since moved over to YouTube where you can actually see products being used in real-world scenarios, compare opinions across multiple creators, and get a better sense of authenticity. It just feels more transparent and less scripted.

CNET still has a strong brand, but it no longer feels like the go-to source it once was.

Thought Everyone should be aware...

Thought Everyone should be aware...

Corporate Services Network (CSNet) = DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR

I was travelling home from work on Oct 27th when I had a car accident. I was hospitalized and the following day I was informed by the neurological team I had an ischemic stroke.
I remained in hospital and was extremely lucky to survive. I am so grateful to all involved Hornsby Hospital and the well wishes from Family and our many friends. Very lucky. I now suffer from severe headaches and dizziness but cannot complain, except till now I feel...

....Three weeks ago I completed my application for my Journey Cover insurance which covers employees travelling to/from work & to/from home.

My employee Sydney Trains along with RTBU Union have an agreement with "Corporate Services Network" (CSNet) who handles Personal Accident and Sickness claims under a Transport Policy. A small fortnightly deduction from wages (should you choose) would cover your journey to/from work/home....hence Journey Cover.

On Monday 30th Oct I enquired as to how my claim was going.......

I was told by CSNet that Journey cover does not cover stroke !! As a stroke is not considered an injury or an accident. At this point I would like to mention that the World Health Organization along with the medical fraternity acknowledges a Stroke is also known as a Cerebrovascular Accident or CVA !!
So even though I pay my premiums to get safely to/from work/home everyday CSNet say "no I am sorry we do not cover a stroke. If you had a car accident that then led to you banging your head on the steering wheel leading to a stroke then we would cover your claim"...!!!

I explained several times today that while I was incapacitated dealing with the whole accident I was so terrified as to what was happening trying to steer to a safe place on the highway all while my movements/control/actions/thoughts has ceased to work, I was paralyzed....I was still asked "did you bang your head", "you need a physical injury for your claim to be accepted", "a stroke isn't an accident" etc. With chronic headaches, dizziness and multiple medications I thought I explained myself well enough.
"I pay a premium every fortnight for Journey insurance. I had an accident resulting in injury travelling home from work and was hospitalized, doctors & specialists have told me I cannot return to my duty for at least 3 months", surely this meets the criteria of Journey cover !! I completed all the paperwork along with my Doctors and managers as requested. I had several "interview/interrogation style" phone calls with CSNet...it was a David and Goliath situation.

Following the stroke the doctors also found out I had a PFO (small hole in the heart) from birth which about 32% world population have. I was told by another CSNet advisor this is an existing illness and so this does not cover your claim either..!!

I have now given up on the World of Corporations we live in. The bureaucracy, the fraud, the wording, the attitudes, red tape and the billions that insurance companies and multinationals profit from each year, it's a disgrace.

I had an accident on the way home from work and ended up with emergency treatment being then diagnosed of an ischemic stroke, but I am not covered.

I fall in to BOTH of the accident and injury categories Corporate Services Network state in their policy:

"1) Accident means an incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally resulting in an Injury."

AND

"2) Injury means a bodily injury resulting from an Accident which occurs during the Period of Insurance."

My claim also meets their exclusions criteria:

"What are the exclusions?
The following General Exclusions apply to all Sections of this Policy and the insurer will not be liable to pay any benefit, loss, cost or expense arising from or attributable to; an Insured Person engaging in or taking part in:
Flyng in an aircraft or aerial device other than as a passenger in an aircraft licensed to carry passengers; or training for or participating in professional sport of any kind; an insured or Insured Person's intentional, willful or reckless act; any self-injury, suicide or any illegal or criminal act committed by the Insured, an Insured Person, a Spouse/Partner and/or Dependent Children; Permanent means having lasted twelve (12) consecutive months and at the expiry of that time being in the opinion of a Doctor beyond hope of improvement.
Pre-Existing Medical Condition means any illness, disease, syndrome, disability or other condition, including any symptoms: if which the Insured Person is aware"..(was not) !!

So thank you to "Corporate Services Network" for making my already strenuous and stressful recouperation even more stressful...
No justification whatsoever. Disgusting.

Their web page will not be still

Whenever I go to an article on their website it reloads the page several times, and each time it starts over at the top of the page and I have to find where I left off before being interrupted by the reload. Sometimes by the time I’ve found where I was it’s already reloading again. Sometimes the article jumps around several times while it’s loading making it impossible to read. I’m finally done with it. I never want to see cnet again.

CNET email newsletters are now bloated

CNET email newsletters are now bloated and slow: I guess they claim they are 'improved' - not so. Require frequent 'I accept' for each article. I shall drop them soon unless it improves.

Oh, and "contact us' is - as on so many sites - hidden away. The only way to let them know is to write a 'complaint' - well, I suppose that is what this is.

(Trustpilot isn't much better)

Bad Website

I searched connections hints for today's connections, and CNET was one of the top results. I had never heard or used CNET before, but I decided to click on it. I scrolled down, and immediately saw an image of the answers!!! Absolutely abysmal. Also, their product reviews on their website are very generic and not useful when looking for things to buy.

I just got scammed by CNET and a company called

I just got scammed by a company called "Sonaki" of which I find CNET gave a glowing review...sent a product that I didn't order...they lied about it being ordered from Amazon...researched the contact phone # on the internet and found that they love to do exactly what they did to me and are very upfront about it...seems like if I was able to find this out in less than 10 minutes, CNET would be able to find out about it also....DO NOT TAKE THEIR REVIEWS SERIOUSLY...everything written by AI, so not useful at all...

Lied about quality in reviews, sponsored paid reviews

They gave the moto g power phone a great review saying it was the best budget phone of 2021, they were just raving about it. I spent $150 on this phone and I've had better phones that were free from T-Mobile. This phone is trash, and I researched and saw that cnet takes paid sponsored reviews. Nice. Screw these people I hope they all go broke.

I miss the days when Cnet was a solid

I miss the days when Cnet was a solid go to for a broad spectrum of anything tech related whether it be car stereos, home stereos, computers, headphones or just any gadget. Those days are LONG gone. They've long since turned into a marketing agency giving good reviews to products you KNOW are bad, while completely ignoring the existence of ones you know are good. They're the best source of misinformation on tech since they passed consumer reports long ago. Pretty much anything from Apple is automatically the greatest gift to mankind. Any of their competent (or unbuyable) reviewers left long ago.

The new site is a complete abortion. There's no more search and you get only the latest shoved in your face in a horrible format that I can't imagine anyone finds enjoyable almost like the person that designed it was TRYING to divert traffic away. I haven't visited in a while but while shopping for a phone I came back across it and was shocked at how much bad can just get worse. You can't even download from their repository anymore without getting spyware attached to it meaning they're actively HURTING the tech community.

Our old friend Cnet is so long gone to corporate greed it's time to let it die.
