FTB. Didn't have much of a clue about the process so spent some time researching, and then when I got my head around that about the same amount of time was spent looking for solicitors/conveyancers because apparently it's a minefield out there. The number one complaint from people seemed to be frustration about delays and being able to make contact with the firm representing them, so before anything else they needed to be local to me. With that in mind I managed to narrow it down to two providers of this service. I won't mention the other one (their sole business was a conveyance service) but I decided to go with David Gray because of reviews mainly - it was difficult to find anything negative from people who have bought and sold with them - and the fact they had a prestigious address in NE1 certainly helped (it gives you an indication of what they're about).

Anyway, the whole process was seamless. After you've jumped through the necessary legal hoops you just let them get on with it. Communication from start to finish was exemplary; I never had to chase them for anything (because I was kept in the loop throughout) but I knew if I did they were just at the bottom of Westgate Road. A lady called Maddison dealt with me initially (she was fantastic) and then a lady called Lauren after that (again fantastic). Lauren actually highlighted a few things that I had overlooked, and then followed these issues up to their conclusion with the seller.

I've now completed, and I will recommend anyone that'll listen to use David Gray. I know I haven't mentioned prices, because in all honesty, all the local locations to me were more or less the same. You can get much cheaper packages with companies located all over the country, but good luck with making contact with them when things go pear shaped - there's a reason they're cheap.

Medhi Hassan is fantastic. Our very first meeting started with me thinking I lost my passport on the way there, and all the panic that ensued. Medhi was kind, understanding, generous with his time, and the epitome of calm through all my tears. He helped me make phone calls while I trembled. Later that night I found my passport in the very bag I brought with me, just in a concealed zipper pocket that I didn't notice. I had never placed it there before. He still kept me as a client! ha! Medhi was always there for me throughout the entire process; the tranquil, guiding light I needed to complete my application. A client needs more than a capable attorney. Last Year I was in need of a solicitor to help with an immigration matter.
I had a friend who I knew had, had a similar matter sorted so I asked which solicitor he had used.
He told me David Gray and about how successful they are in dealing with this type of work, so I gave them a call and was invited in for an initial interview, this was after they told me of the charges for this type of work.

The person who I met was Mehdi Hassan. from the start of our chat I felt this chap is a very professional/knowledgeable chap who would make it clear from the start if, I met the essential criteria to be successful in applying for a visa.
Throughout the whole process Mehdi was very thorough in explaining the options without trying to move me in a particular manner.
Even though some questions seemed rather strange Mehdi kept me on the straight/narrow, which lead to a successful outcome.

I got in touch with David Gray Solicitors and spoke to Mr. Crowther., I explained my circumstances he was very professional and went through my motoring conviction, trying my hardest to explain the circumstances.
he was very patient as speaking to Solicitors is not something I do very often . I literally got a phone call from a female Solicitor who is going to represent me she couldn't have been nicer and to make it even easier. She understood my Scottish accent accent with being Scottish herself.
Long story short, she advised me about what was going to happen and said that I didn't even need to go to court she would do everything for me.
She certainly did. The charges were dropped..
I had been quoted by other solicitors and they but David Gray was by far the most reasonable would recommend anybody who is unsure and worried to use this company.

He attended the court on my behalf however I was unable to attend due to illness ,
It took nearly a week for him to let me know the outcome , the court date was rearranged however there was a few things that left me feeling that I couldn't trust him .
(1) I supplied details via email that lead upto my court appearance however having never met or spoken to him directly, admittedly there was a lot of information I had supplied that he decided wasn't relevant // however it is very relevant to my situation, he didn't once ask to go through anything just complained , I contacted a private solicitor who seemed to think it was relevant and there remit was very very different .
He decided that I should just allow him to do what he wanted without getting any input from me and stated that I should seek another solicitor as I did , after telling me he would contact the court and let them know he wasn't my solicitor any more , however I get a call the day before court asking if I still wanted them to attend court with no preparation, no communication or even an attemp to discuss my case , he jumped straight to if your found guilty for which I am not and what to expect and I feel that because of the complexity of the case he or the legal aid process does not cover the costs of a professional solicitor and thus makes you think that there's some kind of two tier system in play , compared to the remit of a private solicitor there's definitely something amiss ,
(2) he insisted that I'm the client and he would do his best by me however how do you prepare for court if you don't take in or allow your client to speak or listen even sift through the information I'd given him to get to the bones of it ,
(3) WHEN YOUR SOLICITOR tells you no no no , begs the question who's the client , how can he possibly defend you if there's no communication until the day before court , who knows what's going to come our of his mouth without even speaking to you ,
(4) They are extremely rude and none listening , I guess I should of offered to pay perhaps the service would of been as with the private solicitor who's remit is very much different seems there worlds apart .
I didn't read other responses however I see that the same issues have accured before and I not also that David Grey solicitors respond only to positive comments so I don't expect one either ,,,
My advise ,,, avoid at all costs ,,, I had to put a star but really in reality it should be minus 5 stars

We were referred to David Gray law firm by a friend, who told me the company was well respected in immigration matters. We met with solicitor Mehdi Hassan in early December and he explained very clearly where we had went wrong in my wife's spousal/family visa application. We opted to retain Mr. Hassan for his services to help us through the application process again, this time correctly. Mr. Hassan was extremely diligent and communicative during the preparation stage. He would regularly call and instruct us what documents we needed to obtain, to meet the UK Gov requirements. Mr. Hassan kept us informed from the submission, to the biometric appointment, and then finally, when the government indicated that my wife's application was successful.
I would like to thank Mehdi, for his professionalism, knowledge and communications, making this extremely stressful process so much easier.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone going through the visa application process. His services are worth every penny.
