From Professional Support to Negligence
Debt Rescue was brilliant for the first couple of years when I was badly overindebted. I am now at the end of my journey with only one debt to settle. Since then, as I started to clear my debt one by one this year, the communication started to slow down. Suddenly my requests weren't as important. And especially now, with this last account, trying to close it and get them to deduct a reduced amount from my account has been almost impossible. For over two months my emails have gone mostly unanswered, and when they answer, they just resend information that I have sent them with no new direction or next steps. It seems their departments do not communicate with each other, and they definitely do not prioritise clients who are about to leave them because they are settling their debts.
This speaks volumes of how they view client service. When we have business to offer them for the foreseeable future, their communication is brilliant, yet when you are on the verge of leaving them, they drag out the process for as long as they can; they do not answer emails or offer any calls from their end. When they do, they do not take any action. My debt counsellor has probably spoken to me three times since I subscribed to their services three years ago, and they have continued to deduct money from my account for the past two months based on my old debt amount, even though I now have significantly less debt.
This situation is putting my own studies directly in danger, as I budgeted for paying the freed-up monthly amounts towards these studies after settling earlier debts. I now have not been able to continue my studies for two months. This is directly related to Debt Rescue's inability to respond to emails, clarify basic questions, and adjust my debit amount.
You are meant to help clients get OUT of debt, not keep them there. Your initial service was excellent, but it's shocking to see how poorly you treat a client now seeking to escape debt.

Chante Esterhuysen was very helpful with a quick turnaround. Rest of the staff can really learn a lot from her response time and professionalism. Not bad but sometimes a struggle the other consultants.

Debt Review Process
I was terrified making the decision to place myself under Debt Review in 2020 when my salary was slash in half and had to finance my daughters through University as a single dad. I've done my research and chose Debt Rescue after extensive due diligence.
I am happy and so relieve that I am approaching the end of this process and that Debt Rescue stood with me for the last 5 years. I will be completely debt free within the next few months. Debt Rescue accounted for every cent that I spend in the process. It was worth it. Shammie also assisted me to get refunds from the Creditors when and where they were overpaid.
Remember Creditors will never acknowledge over payments . But having Debt Rescue by your side make them more conscious and aware to be fair and reasonable.
Thank you Shammie and Debt Rescue for standing by me and making me strong.
Debt is sometimes necessary but it must be made responsibly for the right reasons.
