Brilliant all round service
Brilliant service. I keep hiring cars from Drivalia because the customer service is the best of all the rental companies I’ve used before. There’s no fuss when you return the car, they’ll give you an upgrade if they have a car available, and the prices are always good. It’s also nice to see familiar faces every time I come in. Absolutely terrible experience
Absolutely terrible experience. Was 2hrs late because of delays in the baggage pick up and when I turned up I was told that my car had been given away. I was then charged £288 (more than the entire price of the original rental) to collect another car. This was with Drivalia. I have never had this experience before with 10-15 other car rentals and I think they’re running an absolute scam. The manager was completely unhelpful and seemed to be enjoying the fact I was so put out. Avoid Drivalia at all costs, I’m completely disgusted by their actions.
Edit - thanks for your generic and completely unhelpful reply. I had already paid for the car so the idea you would charge someone else so you can be paid is completely false. My check in time was also recorded inaccurately 1.5 hours later than is true - recording me at 3.5 hrs late rather than 2hrs. I suspect you never had the car to begin with and used this as a convenient excuse to charge me rather than doing the gracious thing and providing me with an alternative car for free. I would urge everyone to avoid this company at all costs!
I invite you to do the decent thing and refund me!

To ensure we can manage vehicle availability for all our customers, we adhere to the following policy:
Grace Period: We hold bookings for a maximum of 2 hours during branch opening hours. If you are going to be late, we ask that you notify the branch of your estimated arrival time.
Vehicle Hold: We can only hold a specific booked vehicle for a maximum of 1 hour past the booked collection time. After this point, clients may be offered an alternative vehicle category (subject to availability), and charges may apply.
Failure to Collect: Customers who fail to arrive on the day of collection are marked as a ‘No Show’ and charged up to 3 days rental. Please note that prepaid bookings are non-refundable.
If you require any further information regarding your booking or this process, please contact us through the Manage My Booking portal on the Drivalia.co.uk website.

Poor Company!
Pre-paid for a rental, arrived just one hour late. The car was no longer available. The booking price was £103 for 3 days, yet they demanded a £108 late collection fee. Pure opportunism. Anything to squeeze more money from the customer. No logic, no goodwill. Don’t even consider this company.

I'm very disappointed with this…
I'm very disappointed with this company, and I certainly do not recommend it.
We arrived just one hour later than the scheduled pick-up time, and they tried to charge us an additional fee equal to the entire rental cost. They were completely unwilling to help or show any flexibility.
As a result, we lost our money, couldn't rent the car, and our holiday in Manchester was ruined. I'm truly sorry and still can't understand why they treated us this way over just one hour.
I would never use this company again, and I would advise others to think twice before booking with them.

EXTREMELY poor service & complaints procedure
I’m very disappointed with my experience at Drivalia Manchester City, with both the car rental process, and the complaints procedure.
I have exhausted Drivalia’s internal complaints process, but rather than carrying out a genuine investigation, they have repeatedly ignored key aspects of my complaint, provided responses that I believe are inaccurate, and have now closed the case without resolving any of the issues.
At collection, I declined optional insurance but was then told I had failed a credit check and had to buy an extra £40 insurance product before the car would be released. I know for a fact that no credit check took place, yet when I asked several times for proof that one had actually been carried out, including the date, time and credit reference agency used, I never received an answer.
Another one of my complaints is that I was kept waiting for around 40 minutes at collection. Upon my complaint, Drivalia have claimed that complimentary fuel was provided as compensation for the delay. This simply did not happen, no compensation or apology has been offered. Again, no evidence has been provided for this compensation when asked.
The vehicle itself was also in EXTREMELY poor condition. It had cigarette ash in the cabin, smelled strongly of smoke, and there was litter in the centre console, including unsanitary items like used cotton buds and a tobacco packet in the glove compartment. The office to which I returned the car to in London agreed that the car should never have been rented out in this condition.
Overall, the rental experience and complaint handling were both extremely poor. My concerns were not properly investigated and key questions were left unanswered. I would not recommend based on my experience.
