Top quality company, I had 2 log burners installed by Gatfire, I'm very happy I used them.
One neighbour complained about the flue as I'm in a conservation area and Gatfire gave full back up!
Turns out the installation and flue height were spot on!
You never know when you'll need support.
I'd 100% recommend them to my family and friends.

Had a wood burner, chimney, Flu etc installed. Great service, down to earth people and much better price than all others. Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend.

Andy and his team installed a new wood burner in our inglenook fireplace. They were tidy and efficient workers and did a great job. I would highly recommend the company, they were excellent at head office providing lots of informative advice when choosing our stove and very good value.

Based on the other reviews (though there aren’t many), perhaps my experience was not typical with this company, or has something gone very wrong recently?

A key requirement for the Installation of a wood stove in our Art Deco cast iron fireplace was to:--
Cut the back out, remove the front basket and remove debris to create chamber for the stove without removing the surround from the wall and so ensure the tiles were not damaged .. this was confirmed in a call on the 22nd December 2025 after I queried this point the 16th . Despite repeated reminders it took GATFire 6 days to respond to this query.
They were also going to fit a new granite hearth based on a template which I had from the existing hearth. As I live in W London and GATFire are in Essex I sent pictures of it with detailed measurements, so they could prepare one of their own and provide that to their stonemasons.
This was the reply I got when I sent the information on 5th December 2025.
“Thank you Mr Sime. I will pass this to S…. on Monday …
S…. will sort this info with you and we will get this all clarified. So dont worry to much yet it will all be done and resolved in time to have this cut with the stone mason either way.“

The installation was scheduled for 5th February 2026. On 12th January I emailed GATFire to confirm I had the stove and asked them to contact me if their stonemasons needed any more measurements or information when they got round to preparing the hearth. I emailed again on the 29th January 2026 and asked if they knew when the stonemasons would start on the hearth. To which I got no reply.
I also emailed on 4th February 2026 to tell GATFire I had reserved a parking space for their van and that I assumed “all is ok with the hearth and that my diagrams and measurements were able to be deciphered!”
At 20:35 on the 4th February 2026 I received an email from GATFire saying “Regarding your hearth, following lengthy discussions with the stone mason, coupled with the fact that we are removing your fire surround, we decided the best course of action would be to fit the hearth that we have made for you partly based on your template but, will be a traditional rectangle and we will then reseat your surround on top of this. This will give a far better finish once the job is completed.”

Obviously, this was NOT what had been agreed. In subsequent emails that evening I was told that their engineers “are not allowed to use grinders/ cutting equipment inside of your home the only way to do this is to remove the surround and cut this outside as required.” This was the first time this was mentioned, though I’m not at all sure it’s actually true.

I can only assume that they never intended to prepare the hearth from the template measurements and were always going to remove the surround from the wall but just thought they could get away with doing this by telling me the evening before they were due to do the installation.

On 5th February at 9:30am I had a call with GATFire and we agreed to postpone the installation. Later that day I emailed them with my understanding of what we discussed on this call including “We agreed that, in our telephone conversation of 22nd December, you confirmed that you would be able to cut the back out and remove the front basket without removing the whole surround. If, as you said, any of your team subsequently questioned whether this would be feasible, based on the pictures I provided, again it would have been good to know this before now.”

I got a reply saying that they would be out of the office next day but would respond the day after. They didn’t.

After thinking things over, I emailed on 6th February proposing we call a halt to the whole process. I didn’t get a reply until 10th February when it was agreed that we would call it a day and my £50 deposit would be refunded. Par for the course, it took them 7 days to pay me.

I made the mistake of assuming no news was good news with GATFire. All in all, it was a stressful waste of time dealing with this company.

We had a great service from Gatfire from the initial appointment where we were taken through all available options through to the installation.

The installation team arrived on time and completed the install without any fuss. They protected the carpet and cleaned up as they went.

The building control certificate was also sent out very quickly following installation.

GAT Fire fitted my log burner and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From start to finish they were professional, respectful, and clearly very skilled at what they do.
I trusted them with access to my home while I was at work, and they handled everything brilliantly. The installation itself is beautiful and finished to a very high standard. They left the space clean and tidy, took the time to explain how everything works, and were kind and approachable throughout the process.
I would absolutely and confidently recommend GAT Fire to anyone considering a log burner installation. Fantastic company and service.

Very helpful from start to finish i had a log burner fitted in my bungalow and the fitters were absolutely brilliant. I would like to thank Sarah who was also very helpful in choosing the materials. I would highly recommend Fred and his team they were great.

Just had our first ever log burner installed today (16/10/25) oh my! What a professional service! Dust sheets down before any work, polite people, sorry didn’t ask your names, very knowledgeable and very helpful with good advice for use.

Had a log burner installed 2/5/25 Dave and Jason were brillliant ! Work was of high spec and nothing was too much trouble . Jason even put up some trellis and wall plaques in the garden as my drill wasn’t upto the job. The workmanship was top rate they were clean tidy and very respectful of the home . I would definitely recommend. Excellent customer service from Sarah and Fred very knowledgeable helpful advice .

Fred provided a fixed price quote and stuck to that. great servcie from the team, and a great job when finished. No additional costs or add ons just did what they said they would do - rare these days.

They asked to reschedule the first appointment as their other appointments prior to mine had been cancelled. Then they did not show up for the second appointment, when I rang their office, they told me they had cancelled it without telling me. Absolute timewasters - avoid.

Excellent. I did a lot of research before choosing GatFire. Most firms quoted me just for installation the same as I paid GatFire for the stove and installation works, with a big question marks over what else they might add to my bill.
From Fred and John, who were so knowledgeable, to the kindness of the office staff, to the installation team, everyone was super to deal with. They recommended a stove that looked similar to the one I liked at half the price to fit my budget. They only charged me a small deposit. The installation guys sorted all the problems with the fireplace on the spot at no additional cost, went out onto the roof with ladders (very brave). It looks fantastic and works brilliantly. Whole job certified, giving peace of mind if we have any problems. Quite honestly, I cannot recommend this company enough.

From contacting the company, Sarah,Fred and Elaine all sorted out what I required. Then from organising the date to replace all my old Internal pipework and log burner, to a new and efficient log burner, Tim turned on the day and time as arranged, he was excellent with his Co worker changing everything over. He was excellent in his knowledge and certainly was very clean and tidy-up after their work. I was very pleased with the outcome and look forward to using my new log burner for a long time to come. Great company and great prices.

From star to finish can't recommend this company enough. Fred explained the service, low deposit and competitive price. Sounded to good to be true.
The work was carried out by people who are employed by the company were polite worked hard and left no mess.

We heard of GATFire through a recommendation. I’d been looking in to installing a stove for quite a while but everyone I spoke to made it incredibly complicated, it felt like no one really wanted my business and it was also sounded like it would be so expensive that it would be out of budget.

I phoned GATFire and spoke to Fred, his pragmatic approach was a breath of fresh air. He explained everything I needed to know in simple terms and gave me a straight up price with no smoke and mirrors. Even better the price was unbelievably competitive compared to other companies so it was an easy decision to go for it.

I popped into the showroom a couple of times and spoke to Sarah who was equally as helpful and straight to the point. A few weeks later, the fitters arrived bang on time, they were respectful, tidy and professional. Really good guys who were in and out with absolutely no fuss.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more from GATFire they were incredible from start to finish. I will recommend them to everyone I know.

Had my logburner fitted Monday 18th September. Very polite, professional fitters. I have had the best service for a very reasonable price. I will be using Gatfire again to fit two more burners in my home. I can highly recommend Gatfire, this is my second logburner from them.

I would not use again based on the disorganisation of their office, lack of cleanliness from their installers, and rudeness of their owner.
Multiple issues: starting with them being late for appointments, not calling ahead when requested, the installers leaving urine all over all bathroom, the plaster cracking, blue dye of some sort on our specially imported hearth. The main issue however, is that upon completion they are meant to issue a certificate to say it has been tested and is safe. Having called the office a couple of weeks after installation to check this, we were informed that it was on its way and there was just a backlog they were working through, and to leave it 'a few more weeks'. I did as such, and then received an email saying we were seriously overdue on payment. After calling and speaking to the owner to query this, he started threatening to break into our house to rip everything out. It should be made very clear that we wanted to pay, but we also wanted the paperwork which we were promised and more importantly is a legal requirement.
