AVOID AT ALL COST, BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
From the outside the Grand Hotel looks magnificent and probably was in itâs day. Sadly this is no longer the case. We paid £400 a night for a very dilapidated room that was far from âGrandâ. The room had a distinct stale smell - probably from the 1980âs air conditioning, holes in the wallpaper that look like they were patched up by a very drunk and colour blind decorator, food from previous guests on the carpet, very cheap and nasty uPVC windows and balcony doors that donât do anything for quiet nights sleep to not hear the very loud music from the bar across the roadâŠâŠâŠ.this is the bar the management donât tell you about before you book and pay £400 a night to then not sleep and should you dare to complain to them youâll be met with a very stern and rude response - shut up and put up. Youâd be better off paying £32.95 for the NCP multi-storey car park round the back of the hotel and sleep in your car.
We love The Grand
We love The Grand, welcoming and good service with atmosphere. We always book a delux seaview room which are lovely and spacious and have a great seaview! Our favourite seaside hotel for a short break and to get some fresh sea air.
The Grand hotel foyer transports youâŠ
The Grand hotel foyer transports you back to another time, with absolutely gorgeous boutique bedrooms & transfixing sea views. Definitely stay again but sadly disappointing 3* breakfast experience & would alternatively eat in one of Brightons many outstanding cafes or restaurants.
The perfect Brighton weekend breakâŠ
The perfect Brighton weekend break hotel, the best sea view room ever, when you yearn for some sea air and Brighton madness there is no where better to stay.

Very unimpressive stay
My wife and I stayed at the Grand for 2 nights recently. I'm afraid it was a very, very disappointing stay. The hotel states they strive to deliver an exceptional level of a comfortable atmosphere at all times. I don't accept that a dog in the next room barking continuously loudly at 11pm at night and waking us is what I would call a comfortable atmosphere. This was one of the many occasions this happened during our stay. We have spent a lot of money at this hotel in the past but will not be going back. We recently stayed at a Premier Inn near Wakehurst, Sussex which was a £100 a night cheaper than the Grand and much more enjoyable and relaxing. In my opinion The Grand has become a very tired looking and overpriced hotel.
Great Food, Great Accommodation, Great Service
I'm amazed that the hotel has any bad reviews.....but then it's all down to personal experience. I stayed in a basic non sea view room on Saturday night where our works Christmas function was being held. I have to say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. First and foremost, every single member of staff was absolutely delightful........very friendly, very helpful........nothing was too much trouble for them..........thank you guys & girls! The entrance lounge and grand staircase looked beautiful with the Christmas decorations. Our function included dinner........ everything was perfect, and breakfast, which was included in our booking fee was as good as I have had anywhere. It is obviously not the cheapest hotel in Brighton, but for the quality of accommodation, food and customer service, it is fantastic value for money. I can honestly say, I cannot praise this place highly enough.
Excellent experience
Excellent experience. Stayed three nights for work. Had a private dinner and a company party. Excellent. Room attractive and good breakfast.
1* service! Donât waste your time or money
I visited The Grand on Monday 4th with my family and stayed for 1 night. The hotel is lovely and is located right on the beach front however the service was very poor.
It states on the website that check in is at 3pm, when we arrived we were advised our rooms were not ready and they will be ready at 4pm, an hour after they should be. Me and my family went to have some afternoon tea in the hotel while we waited for our rooms to be ready, we had a few bags on us, a buggy and our coats. We asked a member of staff if they could take our coats to the room, they both looked at each other laughed and replied âwe donât take coatsâ very poor service from a 5 star hotel that charges £200 per night.
When we booked our rooms, we specified that a member of our party had a baby. We were put on the second floor having to carry the buggy up 2 flights of stairs with great difficulty. If there were not rooms available on the 1st floor we should have been offered help as a party of 7 females.
We finally have afternoon tea after being left waiting a while for our food, get into our room and we weâre missing 5 bags from one of the cars. We called down to reception, the member of staff asked if we âwe are sureâ before hanging up. We call again and a gentleman said he would look into it, they had put 5 of our bags with all the our presents, clothes and jewellery in someone elseâs room for them to potentially go through our bags.
The rooms were decorated nicely, and we were given large spacious rooms. Unfortunately they were not cleaned to a 5* standard, there was flowers and leaves on the floor, large red marks on the carpet by the television, a lot of hair in the baths and the sinks and the bed side cabinets were full of dust.
All in all as I have said it was a lovely looking hotel but I definitely wouldnât visit there again, Iâm sure there are many other hotels within walking distance of the pier with employee that have some managers.
5* Hotel 1* Service
Booked 4 rooms we had a baby buggy theâŠ
Booked 4 rooms we had a baby buggy the rooms had 5 steps to get to and this was very difficult our cases your in the wrong room and the rooms were not cleaned properly hair in the bath and petals in another , reception staff refused to take our coats whilst having afternoon tea we went back and asked again they took them because we were staying at the hotel but they should have asked the first time. We were questioned by staff when we asked what had happened to our others cases he came up to check them we found a receipt they gave us with the wrong room number rooms took for ever to be ready over all for a hotel of that standard they need to be on top of things a bit better
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas dayâŠ
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas day stay.
Staff excellent despite Tier 4 shutdown boxing day morning.
Customer excellence from hard working people.
On our honeymoon - Horrible Construaction noise right next to our room
This hotel is absolutely useless, we paid for one of the most expensive suite(Queen's room) over £800 and on the first day after we got married they asked to upgrade us to a better room claiming it courtesy of the hotel. What we didn't realise is that they put us out of our nice room right. next to a room near construction work, on monday morning I felt like the drill was in my head.
Not minding that the so called air conditioning did not work the room was boiling hot even after we switched off the heating, it was a horrific experience!!!!! not worth the price we paid. They are not considerate at all, as they put is out of our nice room to obviously put someone else in there.
DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL!!!!
The only good side was concierge was so nice as he always helped us park our car.
A beautiful victorian building in needâŠ
A beautiful victorian building in need of some serious TLC. It's quite expensive also. I enjoyed my stay but could really do with some modernisation.
