If this review prevents one customer from using Hamilton auto services then its worth it.

Car making a front end suspension noise, previously changed top mount and anti-roll bar links myself, but noise was still apparent.

Dropped car off on Monday for diagnostics (£50 plus vat) public holiday. Called for update and was told they think it's a shock absorber, could either charge me to replace it or to strip the suspension and investigate at £90 plus vat an hour. I waited hours for a price. Was advised ,£240 plus vat, agreed, part ordered for arrival Wednesday, called Wednesday 4pm for an update. Cars on the ramp it will probably not be ready tonight. Call back at midday tomorrow (please note to replace a shock absorber it takes 1-2 hours labour). Called back Thursday midday. Some poor excuse cars not ready. Advised I was coming to collect. Travelled to the garage to wait on the repair being completed. I get there, parts replaced but noise is still apparent. Im taken out on a test drive and told it might be the steering rack. I advised thats fine il take it elsewhere. Then im asked if I want to wait to put the old shock absorber back on. I didn't believe there was any value in this. I was told I needed to pay for the work done on the shock absorber which at that point I was happy to, given they had my van 4 days.

They waived the previously mentioned diagnostic fee and continued to charge me for a part I didn't need. As I was about to leave a specialist named Amin appeared and asked me for 15 mins to have another look. He then had the van back on the ramps. And said 100% its a ball joint. I refused any further work but he said parts ordered he wanted to do it for free and would also do an alignment. It looked like things were improving but I needed the van back. So it was agreed to come back on Saturday morning for a new lower ball joint and alignment.

I dropped the car off at opening 10am, and never heard anything all day. Called at 15.30 for an update and told its on the ramp being worked on, we dont believe it will be done by today. I advised again that I am coming to collect it. Made my way to the garage and it was on the ramps with some mechanics working on it. I wait on site after closing and Im told the works done and the cars ready. I checked to see and there was a new ball joint. No alignment was done despite being offered. I drive the car out the street and the noise is still very much apparent.

5 days, a shock absorber replaced for no reason, a ball joint replaced and no alignment done for an issue still to be present.

Save your time, money, sanity and please choose somewhere else when considering repairs to your vehicle. Absolute abhorrent experience.

Amin seemed to want to make a difference but doesnt look to be onsite full time at this garage. This is the only positive thing I can say.

Update original review. My original experience at Hamilton Auto Services wasn’t great due to a lack of staff to deal with an extremely busy reception. However, following my MOT with them, I left the car to have some repair work done on the outside. When I collected my car, I found they did an excellent job at a very agreeable price. The person who did the work apologised for my original experience and explained the situation at reception where there were normally two receptionists, and an unavoidable situation left them with only one for a few days, leaving an overwhelming and chaotic situation for the remaining receptionist at a very busy time. I accepted the apology and the explanation, especially since the bodywork they did on my car was excellent at a very reasonable price.

I booked my car if for a MOT which they failed it on brake pads less than 1.5 mm thick, also both suspension arm bushes or pins excessively worn.
Brake discs pitted or scored advisories.
I took my the car to the garage that has serviced it for the last 5 years and every MOT in the past it passed first time.
They took out the brake pads and measured them 3.0mm left on them, nothing wrong with them. Also discs which were fitted 11 months ago on as well. The suspension arms both sides ok, no sign of excessively worn.
I put the car into another garage which does MOT and passed.
Ask yourself why is this garage only charging £24.95 for a MOT???
I called the garage but feedback not positive..

Very poor service….Car brought in numerous times to fix same problem…”Imran” very rude, lady behind desk always promising to call back but never does…
Each time told car problem was fixed, but took 5 book-ins to fix. Each time car handed back saying fixed…but it wasn’t.
Will never bring my car back to this garage…Cowboys.

Booked my car in for MOT to this garage. When asked if he was fitting original parts, the owner stated they do not fit original parts as they are too expensive. Whilst they fitted parts that needed replacing, the price was double the cost of what the ordinary person would pay on the street from their local motor factors. To my horror when we got the bill the parts fitted were more than the cost of original parts. Also fitting charges were extortionate, he was charging £80 per Hour, the bill had no breakdown of number of hours to repair. £70 for a fuel filter, from local motor factor £21.42 so imagine the cost of rest of bill.

Highly recommend this garage. Trustworthy, efficient and friendly staff.

Used this garage for years. Would highly recommend. I cannot fault them at all. My car is used for work purposes and they always get everything sorted even when I throw it on them with no notice. You can get the broken parts back, if you want them. The provide an excellent and reliable service and they have never let me down. So a big thank you to them.

I was waiting for mot and maggie looked after me.made me lovely coffee.the other female angy was bit rude and arrogant.i didnt like how she spoke to maggie.her behaviour was very condescending and she was ignoring anything maggie asked her.no respect that i was sitting waiting

I ordered tyres through Black Circle and got them fitted the next day. I was new to this garage and have to say the service was great.
I was so satisfied that I booked in for my MOT, again no complaints.
It will now be my go to and a special shout out to Maggie, great lady for front of house

Used these guys twice now as a fitter after buying from Blackcircles.com
First was a few years back they did not fit the tyre that was ordered but fitted an alternate instead. When the car was brought back to me at reception it had a puncture on a different tyre which I paid to have repaired.
2nd visit today (always like to give people and services a fair go and a second chance) to have a tyre fitted that was purchased again via blackcricles. I first ensured it was the correct tyre being fitted but during the process of fitting the tyre a wheel stud was snapped.
I was promised a phone call from “the boss” and after a few conversations with other staff he eventually called.
After a great deal of discussion on it being my responsibility to pay for the broken stud and the 2 hours labour to fit the replacement in spite of not once having been asked to sign any waver or have my attention drawn to any warning notices before any work was carried out, I suggested he reflect on the conversation before I submitted any reviews online. At this point he became angry and aggressive and hung up the phone.
An appalling business to deal with and my recommendation would be to avoid.
