Worst agency company. When you have a problem they reply 5 days later saying they will send someone to sort the problem and nothing happens. Avoid. They are useless.

A very long wait to move house but always helped and reassured by the team with phone calls/texts.

I just exchanged on my house with Harris and Wood. From start to finish, they have all been beyond helpful. Exceptional marketing, photography, communication - you name it. However, I can't write this review without commending Marcus Jarman who personally handled practically everything in terms of getting my sale over the line. As a big worrier, he consistently reassured me, kept me in the loop about absolutely everything and was just an absolute pleasure to be in communication with throughout. Buying and selling a house is a stressful process, but Marcus made all of the difference. I'd absolutely use his and Harris + Wood's services again.

I have recently rented an apartment in Colchester through Harris and Wood. When compared to other letting agencies, Harris and Wood stood out for being more effective and fast in getting in touch and arranging viewings. In particular, I am pleased with the assistance provided by @Megan Power, who has always responded promptly to my emails and requests, and has patiently guided me throughout the whole process. I especially appreciated her way of approaching customers, which is just the right mix of professionalism and friendliness. I would highly recommend to get in touch with her if you are looking for a property in Colchester!

I was really impressed by everyone I ever dealt with at H&W. Everyone is really friendly, professional and helpful at all times, from initial calls/emails/enquiries about viewings. We have recently sold our house with Harris+Wood Colchester, and simply cannot fault them. Excellent marketing strategy, superb photographs, regular communication, and outstanding customer service. The whole team at H+W Colchester were great, but Branch Partner Elliott Watson, and Customer Relations Manager Marcus Jarman, deserve special mention. They were both excellent in how they managed our property sale, and provided first class advice on dealing with certain challenging issues that presented themselves along the way. Marcus really went the extra mile to assist us and was the consummate professional in how he conducted himself. He was a pleasure to deal with and a real credit to the company.

The whole experience was first class, and I highly recommend H+W to anyone looking to sell or purchase a property.

Very bad experience renting with them. This is only for the Colchester branch. Lots of stipulations for tennants.

I have been impressed with Harris and Wood since I first called them to get a quote on selling my house. I was living out of the country and they made real effort to contact me to check at every stage and liaised between my tennants and management agents, as well as with my solicitor. My first buyer pulled out but Marcus Jarman was straight on it and within 4 days had a open house and three offers. It has only been 10 weeks between the offer being accepted and completion. I would highly recommended the company. Thank you to all the team there for a swift and personable service.

We appointed the Witham branch to market our house in early 2022. Despite not generating the number of viewings that they had indicated they would, they did find a buyer after a couple of months (at just below the asking price) who confirmed that they were willing to wait until we found a property and therefore, we formally accepted their offer.

At this point everything seemed to be progressing well and we made sure that we kept the agent and our buyer regularly updated with our own search. However unbeknown to us, Harris & Wood were still marketing and conducting viewings for other properties on their books to our buyers and ultimately sold and completed the sales negotiations for another property. Furthermore, they did not even mention anything to us until the week following the acceptance of the offer and during this whole process our property remained off the market as sstc, therefore preventing us from attracting another buyer. They can’t dispute these events as they have acknowledged their failings, agreed we should have been informed and apologised in writing in an attempt to retain us as a client, which is comical after they destroyed every element of trust with us.

While, I don’t doubt that they will sell many more properties, if you are looking for an agent that will represent your interests rather than their own and those of potential buyers in preference do not consider dealing with this company. They had no issue with breaching their obligations to (a) avoid conflicts of interest; (b) keeping clients informed of all relevant information; and (c) to conduct their business in a professional, trustworthy and ethical manner.

Amazing experience with Harris & Wood!
From start to finish (so far) our experience has been fantastic in selling our home with H&W. Steve was our first connect, very professional providing great advice and ultimately making the whole process easy and painless for us. Steve arranged for James from H&W to come and do photographs and a video of our home and we had a blast doing this and the end result was impressive. James made the time he was in our house very relaxed and he clearly knows what he is doing, the video was so good I nearly put an offer in on my own home! :) James also made a friend in our dog Belle and the photographs he took of her and sent to me after, were beautiful and I will treasure, they will in fact be framed and hung in our new home.
Our home sold in less than 24hrs and we got what we were looking for and a bit extra! I can not recommend H&W enough and I thank them for making the whole experience a good one!
