Smooth First-Time Buyer Experience – Honest & Transparent Service

As a first-time buyer and a bit of an overthinker, I was naturally anxious about choosing the right solicitor. The market is full of options,many promise the world at the start, but reviews often reveal delays, lack of communication, hidden fees, or sudden staff changes partway through the process. That made me very cautious.

I considered online solicitors, who often advertise lower fees, but I noticed from reviews that many come with unexpected charges, poor communication, and delays. Thankfully, I chose JP Goldman,and I’m glad I did.

From the very beginning, Andy was helpful and patient, explaining the full process clearly. Communication throughout the transaction was consistent, and we were kept informed at every stage. Although we always had to initiate contact ourselves to get updates, every phone call was answered and every email received a timely response.

Gabby, in particular, was extremely helpful and supportive—she really helped us stay on track throughout the process. While I only managed to speak to our case handler, Jake, once directly, he was kind and informative. Most day-to-day communication was through the team, who efficiently passed on messages and provided updates.

The best part? There were no surprise charges at the end. I paid exactly what I was quoted at the start, which brought real peace of mind.

The total process took about three months. There was a slight delay due to the seller’s solicitor being unresponsive, but JP Goldman handled everything on their side without delay.

A couple of points for improvement:

It would be helpful if the case handler personally contacted the client at the beginning, or checked in weekly with progress and expected timelines.
That said, even without that, the team was accessible and responsive whenever we reached out.

Final Verdict:

If you’re looking for competitive pricing and professional, honest service for property conveyancing, I highly recommend JP Goldman. I’m very happy with the service and would definitely use them again.

Once I knew who my case handler was, I was very pleased to find I could invariably speak with them for updates and they always chased ‘the other side’ when they said they would and got back to me. This is in contrast to a reputable city conveyancer who is acting for me in another case (snd charging me a lot more) and I can never get past their gatekeeper!

Craig was my solicitor for the purchase of my first home, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for anyone better. From start to finish, he was on the ball — no question was ever too much, and he was always quick to reply to emails or pick up the phone. He kept me calm and reassured throughout, which really helped take the edge off the usual stress that comes with buying a house.

He’s clearly great at what he does — professional, efficient, and thorough — and he made the whole process feel a lot more straightforward and manageable.

Craig provided expert services throughout the process of moving home and ensured that the move completed without any hiccups. He did brilliantly to manage the sellers solicitors who took a bit of pushing. Very happy with the service throughout from the team. Would happily use them again.

As time was of the essence ( to avoid the stamp duty deadline), Craig made sure the completion went through before the deadline. Craig responded promptly to my emails and provided timely updates with clear instructions on what I needed to do ( I needed a bit of hand holding). From offer acceptance to completion , it took 10 weeks and 3 days. Very pleased with the service received.
