Delivery was very quick, communication was great, very impressed that the sizes are always available on the kickers site directly.

Only thing I noticed I ordered 1 pair they were slightly small sent them back received a half size up perfect but both have a very strange and strong smell on the outside yes I know its leather but it’s unpleasant so bare that in mind

We have had a really good experience with Kickers school shoes. They are comfortable, durable and well made, which is especially important for children who wear them every day at school.

My daughter is five, soon to turn six, and she’s a very active child, so I was initially unsure how durable vegan school shoes would be compared with traditional leather.

After a full school year of regular wear, I’ve been really pleasantly surprised. The soles are still firmly attached, there’s plenty of tread and grip remaining, and the buckles are still strong and working perfectly.

The shoes have softened considerably over the year and seem to have stretched and moulded with wear, making them very comfortable for her. We’ve also had no issues with odours, which was another concern I had initially.

One thing worth mentioning is that we’ve polished them with black wax almost every day, despite understanding that Kickers recommend the vegan material is simply wipe-clean. I appreciate this isn’t necessarily the intended care method, but the shoes have coped extremely well with it and I found it helped them brush off dust more easily.

The only real issue I’ve noticed is some slight whitening between the layers of the sole. It stands out against the black shoe, so I’ve had to keep on top of it with polish. It hasn’t affected the performance or structural integrity at all, but it is noticeable aesthetically.

The toe cap has also rubbed slightly, although the polish covers this reasonably well. I’d imagine you’d see similar wear on leather shoes too.

I actually bought a second, slightly larger pair in the sale for this school year, knowing she would eventually grow into them. They’re currently a little too big, so we’re continuing to use the original pair for now, as they still have plenty of life left in them.

I’ve seen some mixed reviews online about the durability of vegan Kickers, but based on our experience I really can’t be anything other than positive. For the roughly £32 we paid, I think they’ve offered excellent value for money. Obviously, every child will wear shoes differently, and other families may experience different levels of wear and tear, but our experience has been very positive.

There’s also a little bit of nostalgia behind choosing Kickers. I remember wearing them myself at school in the 1990s, so it was nice to get my daughter her own pair.

Overall, I’ve been genuinely impressed with their durability. After a full school year of regular use, they’re still comfortable, perfectly wearable and have plenty of life and grip left in them. As a vegan alternative to traditional leather school shoes, I think they’ve performed remarkably well.
