If I could give zero stars, I would. We’ve been dealing with Abbie Oswald, and I believe Hannah? As they represent the buyer of our property, and their handling of the process has been nothing short of incompetent. Despite being over four months into the sale, they only realised two days before exchange that they hadn’t verified the buyer's proof of funds—an absolutely basic requirement that should have been checked at the very start. They’ve caused repeated delays, complete ignored multiple emails in the chain, made numerous errors (including thinking our freehold house was a flat for weeks, even after having the title, offer and survey!), and have shown a shocking lack of communication and attention to detail throughout. These issues have pushed the chain to the brink of collapse (we have one week left to exchange before our purchase pulls out) and caused significant stress and uncertainty for everyone involved.

I would strongly advise anyone looking for a reliable, professional conveyancer to steer clear.

Needing a solicitor to complete paperwork at short notice for my settlement agreement, I found Giles Dobson to be extremely helpful and professional and will certainly use again.

How this company is still operating and hasn't been struck off is a miracle, my ex husband used Martin Tolhurst, so they were not my solicitor, thank the lord, but I had the misfortune of having to deal with them, as I was representing myself. This company reply so slowly, via pigeon would be faster, they are rude, unprofessional and send documents to the wrong people, which is not good in a divorce case, they seem to have mathematical problems, which I raised, but they assured me they were correct, in fact they was incorrect and this delayed matters and cost me a lose of property sale to the sum of 5k, as the case needed to go to court and my ex husband I would assume alot of extra costs, to be told by the Judge, yes these figures do not add up, it's something when a solicitor can't add up and can't keep private documents safe. Please don't be fooled by all the good reviews not all the solicitors are doing a good job at this firm, some need to return to university for more training. I feel very sorry for the young girls they send out to deal with the unhappy clients, because you never get to see the rude unprofessional solicitor, not sure why, it's not like they are replying to any emails. I am now looking at buying another property & looking at other reviews for Martin Tolhurst, Wards seem to like using this company even though you have alot of bad reviews, so not that I would even consider using your firm, Wards will not convince me to use you even for a quick sale, in fact I wouldn't use Martin Tolhurst if you was free.
EDIT - I am more than happy for trust pilot to contact me for more details of my review, I have stated in my review Martin Tolhurst were not acting on behalf of myself, but I did need to deal with them, so this review is valid as I have had dealings with them, if trust pilot need any further details of timings or documents sent and incorrect documents sent to me, I am more than happy to supply these details, I also have court paperwork from the judge stating the query with Matin Tolhursts mathematical skills.

Absolutely dreadful solicitors who should be avoided at all costs. We were recommended to use them via Wards for the sale of our property. It was impossible to get hold of our case manager Samantha Harvey via the telephone, a vital email from the Freeholder took over 8 weeks to be forwarded on and that was only after chasing them and the response to the buyers questions took weeks to be sent to the buyers solicitor (also using Martin Tolhurst) despite us answering them the week they were initially sent. The buyer ended up pulling out of the sale due to an issue with the Freeholder.

Despite us asking Martin Tolhurst to be referred to their leasehold team to address the issue with the Freeholder it took weeks of chasing before we were contacted by the new enquiries team. None of the various teams communicate with each other which meant we were constantly sending over the same information. Several weeks later we finally had a consultation with Adam Waters who spend 15 minutes lecturing us on how much everything was going to cost, didn’t actually provide any legal advice on the issue presented and then had the audacity to claim he was worth £250 an hour so wanted £750 to write a letter we had already drafted and done the leg work for. Absolute lunacy when anyone with eyes can read a legal document and see where someone is incorrect. We will never use this company again and will be advising all friends and family to mark and avoid!

Purchasing a property in the UK can often be a lengthy and detail-intensive process, and as first-time buyers, we were initially unfamiliar with the procedures involved.

Simran Pannu was allocated as the solicitor dealing with my house Sale and Purchase. Simran is efficient and a great communicator. She responded swiftly to all correspondence and had been very clear about the process and expectations which is what you need with a daunting experience such as the sale and purchase of property. She has also been very sympathetic when the first chain collapsed and managed to expertly get everything back on track, understanding the need for avoidance of unnecessary delay. Her legal assistant, Lauren New, was equally efficient and helpful. I would definitely use Martin Tolhurst again in future based on this positive experience.

I can't recommend Kirsty enough for conveyancing. Even though the whole process took an entire year due to constant delays, she was fantastic throughout. She was always happy to help with any questions and never seemed bothered by the hold-ups.

We appointed Martin Tolhurst solicitors for the sale of our house in Kent and the purchase of our new home in Stratford upon Avon. All of the staff in the Longfield office were brilliant. As often happens, when something tricky comes up you want experienced professionals capable of dealing with it and that’s what we got. We were kept informed every step of the way with a very slick process. We don’t often use legal services, but this was the best ever.

We worked with Simran and Lauren and they were absolutely fantastic. We were first time buyers so completely new to the process and they went into detail with everything to make sure we understood. Not only that, they were so fast and efficient, they would respond within a few hours of sending an email and were always available on the phone! We were able to complete in 8 weeks and beat the stamp duty changes because of how great they were! I would 100% recommend they are worth the money.
