Just want to say a huge Thank You to David Cheung and his team. Treated my Mom’s eye cancer and did a brilliant reconstruction of her upper eye lid. Thank You again!

I'm beyond happy with my experience and surgery done under the care of Mr. David Cheung. The decision to undergo surgery was not easy for me and I booked to see David in total of 3x across 3-4 years for consultation. Each time, David was very patient with me, helped me understand what would happen at surgery (if I opted to go for it), how much it would cost, risks etc. By the time surgery day arrived, I was so ready for it. I felt confident that I was in the best hands. I absolutely love my results. I was undergoing unilateral surgery, meaning only surgery on one eyelid. I've had uneven eyelids since I was a child and it was something that really affected my confidence. Surgery went as smoothly as it could (it's not a cake walk, but it wasn't excruciating or horrible in any way!). The worst swelling lasted approx 2-3 weeks which I was able to disguise well with my normal reading/vision glasses. My results properly settled in around the 2 month mark and I am absolutely thrilled and over the moon. I feel so much more confident and love my final results. Thanks so much David and to your entire team (who were all so helpful and lovely!).

I saw David on the recommendation of a friend who had had upper and lower eye surgery. I had hated the bags under my eyes for years and was now in a position to do something about it - I am so pleased I did.
My initial consultation with David was great and he explained everything to me, including options I hadn’t even thought of.
I went ahead with surgery and it wasn’t anything like as uncomfortable as I’d thought it would be.
2 weeks afterwards I am feeling good and already seeing the benefits.
The care I’ve received has been brilliant and David has responded swiftly to any questions and queries I’ve had.

It has been over three months since my surgery with Dr Cheung and I would like to say a big thank you to Dr Cheung and the team at Westbourne Centre. From the first time I contacted the team for a consultation to the aftercare I felt that I was looked after really well. I had the Asian Blepharoplasty/Double Eyelid Surgery done and it has healed really really well and I am very happy with the outcome.

I am the nervous/worry type of patient and I would recommend if you are considering to have this surgery, to make sure that you are 100% sure you are ready, because it is permanent and you need to have a realistic expectation and you have to be VERY patient during the recovery period. Your eyes will NOT be the final result during the first few months of the surgery. Be very diligent with the prep work (eyelid care/diet etc) and also the after surgery care. This will make a difference in the results.

Initially I was reluctant to point to a celebrity photo to indicate what I wanted but I realised that it is actually very helpful to show the surgeon exactly the style/height of eyelid show that you are going for. This is because if you go purely on the measurements (when eyelid is closed) - it seems that it may not turn out exactly as you think when you have your eyelids open because this also depends on if you have any skin excision, any fat removal etc, so even though you might do your research online or speak to another surgeon it is best to not stick to the exact measurements you see online for when your eyes are closed but to focus and communicate how much eyelid show you would like when your eyes are open instead.

With a surgery like this it is pretty much a once in a life time event, and I am glad that I had Dr Cheung as my surgeon. He was very very responsive, answered every single one of my questions and made sure that I was aware of all the risks involved and listened to my concerns and adapted the surgery plan when I had changed my mind on how much eyelid show I wanted. My result is very natural and I no longer look sleep when I don't have eye makeup on. When I do wear makeup only very few of my friends noticed I had surgery so I am very happy with that!

Having recently decided to have Blepharoplasty surgery, I researched and visited 3 well known clinics before choosing David at the Westbourne clinic, Birmingham. His manner and explanation swung it for me and I’m so glad it did. ( Also quite telling was the fact that he spent triple the amount of time with me at my initial consultation compared to the others, really looking at the area I wanted surgery on !) I’m now 2 weeks and 5 days post procedure. Everything went smoothly and the results are better then I even hoped. I’m over the moon and so pleased I’ve had it done. For anyone else considering this surgery , I can’t recommend David Cheung enough. As I concluded during my initial research- if you are going to have surgery in this area you definitely want an experienced Occuloplastic surgeon who have advanced training in the eye and surrounding structures, not just a plastic surgeon who does a bit of everything !!

I had noted my upper eyes becoming increasingly heavy and debated surgery over the last two years. People just thought I was tired all of the time. Finding the right surgeon for the procedure was relatively easy in Birmingham. Dr Cheung is a well known, respected Oculoplastic Surgeon and his web site gives you all the information you require. Even so on meeting him he covered every detail and made me feel completely relaxed to go through with the procedure.
The surgery was absolutely fine and the team very attentive. Dr Cheung e mailed me a couple of hours later to check I was ok. His level of contact with his patients is excellent and I could not have had a better experience.

Before surgery I had an Consultation appointment with Mr Cheung in Eye Clinic ,Russell's Hall Hospital.He explained to me everything what I should know about the surgery and afterwords .He gave to me leaflets with information which I could read at home.This Appointment was relaxing and enjoyable. After that I was ready to proceed with the operation.
I had to wait for a while to have my surgery because of Covid19 but finally on 14 of October 2021 I attended the Day Surgery Unit in Russell,s Hall Hospital to have it.
Mr Cheung came to see me before the surgery.The way which he always discuses with all patients is brilliant.He always is positive and pleasant appearance to make people so relaxed.
The local anesthetic was so good, I did not feel any pain during operation.The staff and Mr Cheung who were looking after me through the surgery were very professional.The time of my procedure has gone so quick.After the operation Mr Cheung came to see me and asked if everything is all right and then I was discharged home with full information about my post surgery recovery.One week later I had an appointment to remove the sutures and further recommendations.Once again it was a pleasure to meet him.
Today I am around 1 month after operation .Every day I look at mirror and I am so grateful to see finally my equal and wider eyes and my vision improved. Members of my family and friends have noticed the change in my eyes and said that I look fresh and much better. I would like to say thank you so much Mr Cheung for your professionalism,incredible skills and knowledge.
It is rare to find a Doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care.

If there is anyone out there reading this review and they are suffering from in-growing eyelashes, causing eyes to become bloodshot and painful and making their life utterly miserable, I strongly urge you to get in touch with David Cheung, a super surgeon who will soon have you back to normal.
Having been on the NHS list for some time and having to suffer in silence, I decided to 'go private' and contacted The Westbourne Centre, Edgbaston, Birmingham who put me in touch with David Cheung, an oculoplastic surgeon who deals with such matters.
My consultation, a week prior to surgery, was at The Priory, a beautiful establishment in Edgbaston with ample car-parking. David has a way of explaining things in a clear and concise way so that even those of us with minimal medical knowledge, are made fully aware of all aspects of the required procedure that has to be done to eradicate the in-growing eyelashes. His friendly and chatty manner immediately put me at ease, where all avenues of selective treatment were fully discussed in detail. and explained to me.
Surgery was carried out by David and his team at The Westbourne Centre, Edgbaston, where the professional nursing staff are friendly and caring. A local anesthetic was applied to the area around my eye and the surgical (entropion) procedure was completed within forty minutes.
David had made me aware that there may be some after-op aching around the facial area where stitches had been applied and that such pain would go within 24 - 36 hours. Other than that, everything was fine.
A week later I returned to see David where he carried out a thorough examination of my treated eyelid and the surrounding facial area and told me that he was satisfied to sign me off.
I have no hesitation in recommending David Cheung to anyone who is suffering from similar problems to those that I encountered, and would urge them to seek his advice and treatment immediately.

My eyelid surgery was perfect. The operation was the best experience in a theatre that I have had. My before and after care was caring and informative. I would highly recommend Mr D Cheung.

During my consultation, Dr. Cheung was very detailed explaining exactly what needed to be done. More importantly he was very patient in answering all my questions. I left my appointment very happy, knowing that I wanted him to do my surgery.

On arriving the day of the surgery, all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. At registration, I was greeted by a nurse who checked my details and ensured that I had arranged for my collection after surgery, she was very thorough. Thereafter, Dr. Cheung came through and explained again exactly what he would be doing during surgery.

Once, I was taken into theatre, I was made very comfortable. One of Dr. Cheung's staff even held my hand at the start of the surgery, which was so comforting as I was nervous. During surgery, Dr. was very attentive checking periodically that I was okay.

After arriving home the evening after surgery, I received an email from Dr. Cheung with a reminder of the aftercare. Three days after surgery, I got a telephone call from one of his staff checking in on me, and informing me if I needed them over the weekend, they were only a phone call away. The aftercare was fabulous!!

Dr. Cheung was beyond fantastic! He's very very professional but he also has such a nice personality, very easy to talk too.

I'm so so happy with my results and I would highly recommend Dr. Cheung and his team, thank you so so much!!

Dr David Cheung performed upper and lower blepharoplasty and I am very pleased with the results , he helped me understand what to expect from the procedure and aftercare . I would recommend Dr Cheung if you are thinking of having this procedure done .

I had an Asian Blepharoplasty (aka. double eyelid surgery) with Mr Cheung to make my eyes more symmetrical. I had an accident before my scheduled surgery but was able to successfully reschedule it. The surgery as well as my 1-week and 3-month follow-up appointments all went smoothly despite the current COVID situation. My scars have healed very well so far and will further improve in over the next few months. My eyes are now more symmetrical and I am less tired looking.

My consultation with Mr David Cheung went very well, he explained the whole procedure including the risks which were involved.
I had Ptosis surgery under local anaesthetic, which went very smoothly and felt very comfortable during and after the surgery.

I was contacted within 12 hours after surgery to make sure I was ok and also given a 24 contact number incase of any emergency.

I am 100% happy with my results and would highly recommend Me David Cheung for any eye procedures.

I have long known that the one elective surgery I would undertake was blepharoplasty, due to drooping lids at a young age.

I chose to have a consultation with David after undertaking research.  There was no question of me going abroad to have any procedure done.  It may be cheaper,  but the potential for something to go wrong, the language barrier and aftercare needs meant staying in the UK was paramount.

I went to David with thoughts of upper and lower blepharoplasty (dark circles under eyes).  David was very friendly,  easy to talk to, explaining about every element of the procedures, taking measurements,  doing drawings, really listening to me and understanding my reasons for wanting the op.  Crucially he explained why I was not a suitable candidate for lowers and why alternatives (e.g. fillers) would also not work for me.

Being very risk averse I went away from the first consultation armed with lots of information supplied by David and decided not to go ahead.  After 18 further months of deliberation and research I decided to go ahead and booked a further consultation.

Shortly afterwards I undertook the procedure at the Westbourne Centre in Birmingham.   From start to finish of the whole process I cannot fault all of the staff I encountered.  All so very polite, friendly and caring, putting me at ease.

Throughout the procedure David was his usual calm, reassuring,  friendly and humorous self.   I had approximately 13mm taken from each upper.   I have a medium tolerance to pain and can honestly say the most painful part was administering local anaesthetic to the inner corners of the area nearest my eyebrows (and even that wasn’t so bad).  During the operation I experienced no pain,  just a sensation that something was happening around the area.  I concentrated on staying calm and listening to David's eclectic operating music list and chatting to him and the theatre staff.

Post surgery I was very well briefed on what to expect and instructions to follow (which I did to the letter).  The rest of the day after surgery was uncomfortable but after that,  no problems.  It actually looked worse than it felt.

I am now 5 months post op and the results of the work are nothing short of amazing.   I no longer look tired and angry,  I wear only the lightest of eye makeup to achieve the look that I couldn’t achieve before and it has bolstered my self esteem no end.  Thank you so much David, I would (and have) recommended you to several people for a job well done.  My only wish is that I’d done it sooner!

From my very first consultation with Mr Cheung at Sandwell Hospital he made me feel at ease with his easy going manner unlike some consultants who sometimes make you feel that they are unapproachable.
Mr Cheung explained everything in detail regarding the Blepharoplasty Surgery. On the day of surgery I arrived at Sandwell under his care he came to see me personally to explain further about the operation. I must admit I was a little scared but during the procedure he spoke to me and everything was fine. The Operation took around an hour for both eyes. The bruising was quite bad after which I would say lasted for around a week I used the frozen peas to keep the swelling down three to four times day for about 20 minutes each time. I had one week off from work after two weeks the bruising had completely gone. There was a little numbness in the eye lids for around 12 weeks after the procedure which was normal nerve tissue damage. Three months passed and the results were amazing no saggy lids perfect eye vision truly amazing result Mr Cheung Thank You.

My consultation with Mr Cheung was very informative, he explained the procedure and the aftercare after my operation for droopy eyelids. His style and approach to the the way he told me of the procedure and any questions I had were answered in a style that l understood and felt totally at ease.
On the day of surgery, l was again explained what was about to happen, within the hour it was over, there was no pain during and after the operation, I was extremely pleased. I had my initial consultation with David Cheung. I was concerned about my droopy eyelids. David took time to thoroughly explain my options including what was involved and how the operation is performed. He took lots of notes and measurements and photos. I felt totally at ease with him. David has a calm relaxed style which is very reassuring. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in his field. I decided to have a bilateral upper blepharoplasty.
On the day of my surgery I was looked after by the medical team who were all highly professional and caring and put me at my ease and every step was explained to me.
My theatre experience was better than I could have imagined. David and his team were so warm and caring, I felt totally confident and safe in their hands. I was given a local anaesthetic, the procedure was over quickly and pain free.
Afterwards I was taken to recovery where I was given tea and biscuits and the post surgery nurses explained my aftercare instructions which I was to follow once I returned home. I am extremely happy with my results, my eyes are wider and look very natural.
David kept in touch with me by email and always responded promptly to my questions.

I had stereotype oriental mono puffy eyelids, and as I became older, my eyelids began to sag which I became very concerned about in case they effected my vision. It took me a long time to make a decision to go for a blepharoplasty surgery, but when I did I decided to go to see Mr. Cheung because I had seen his work from my previous job. I knew how good he was in his line of work. I am so relieved that I had the operation carried out by Mr. Cheung. He is very down to earth and listened to my various concerns. I had quite a few questions but he was able to answer them all very promptly which put my mind at rest and made me feel at ease. Overall my experience was very satisfying, no pain and now fully recovered. If anyone is still undecided whether to proceed with this kind of surgery in the future I would highly recommend Mr. Cheung.

I was referred by my GP to Mr Cheung in 2016 as my right eye had developed a twitch 12 months previously and had been worsening. From my first appointment at Russells Hall hospital and all subsequent appointments, until I moved this year to a different area, I have been impressed and very pleased with the care that I have received from Mr Cheung.
During my first appointment, not only did he diagnose my condition as blepharospasm but he clearly explained how the treatment (botox injections) would work and its frequency (every 15 weeks) and administered the injections. He was patient in answering my questions and really cheerful and friendly. Not at all intimidating which is how some consultants can appear.
The treatment worked well and I was able to do my job more efficiently because the twitching was greatly reduced and I also felt a lot happier and confident socially.
I continued to see Mr Cheung for top-up injections and he was always friendly and professional. When waiting times increased and my condition worsened, he offered what help that he could in trying to bring my appointment forward.
I highly recommend Mr Cheung for his professionalism and his ability to put his patients at ease. He really does enjoy his work!
