The good news is that we now have confirmation! I was apprehensive about the submission after some of the horror stories online, but it went really well. I really can't  thank you enough for all your help. Took our application to the sheriff court today and it was approved, paid for and all sorted there and then. I had misunderstood and asked the lady how long until we heard, and she said, no, it's all done and you'll get the certificates by registered post in the next few days.

So, I sought out help and after I carefully followed the instructions from Mike, my application was accepted by the court with no issues. My mothers estate was going to be straight forward but I didn't want to incur the excessive cost of a solicitor. I couldn't really find anything of help from the various websites until I came across My Probate Partner.
