After getting married in late September…
After getting married in late September 2025, I decided to get round to changing my account into my married name. Great I'll do the online change of name through the app. All went well sent of my details and proof of change of name new wedding cert and final notice of divorce etc. Was asked to send more which I did. Heard nothing back. Decided to contact them via the telephone complaints line, after getting through to a real person which was nice, basically I was born in the 60s and my parent decided to give me a - in my name as was the fashion in those days . It is now as accordance to law no offical document can no longer include - so since then my passport, driving licence and all other legal document my name includes a space instead of -, but my bank account that I have had since the early 80s does. They will not change my name to my new married name without a Depol name change document which has never existed as I've not change my name just omitted the - as per the law. Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous. I gave up and after 40 years plus I have moved to Lloyds.

Recently we submitted a mandate to have two directors added to our account, but in the process they removed the one director who had access. Since then we were told that the mandate would take 7-10 business days and then we would get online banking, however this week when chasing it we were told we needed to apply for that separately, which I then did. I then called back in the afternoon to be told that it used to be automatic but they removed it - Why one earth didn't the first person we spoke to tell us?
The individual we spoke to yesterday told us that one of us could go into branch with a signature from the other to transfer funds to an account with another bank that we can actually access. I stressed that this was to PAY WAGES, to which the operator very calmly and confidently told me it would be fine.
However, on going into branch this morning and speaking with the lady there I was told we could not do this, and that the other director would need to be there. She said she may have been able to do it the person I spoke to the day before had left a note on the system, but they hadn't. I completed the form in branch and now the other director will have to go in tomorrow to sign, which is a massive pain to sort.
I am absolutely FURIOUS that the telephone business banking team would tell me to go into branch and be so flippant about it when we have wages to pay. We are in the process of setting up a new bank account and will be closing down our account with NatWest, because all of this time lost, and the risk of not being able to access funds to pay the ages of nine employees, in intollerable.
We set up our account with natWest a few years ago having met one of their team and being told about Free Agent as a freebie, but for the amount of time we have lost dealing with the issues we might as well have paid for Xero.

Yet again still not heard bout complaint since 5th Feb we now 24th March tried ringing 5 times eventually got through n still not with anyone it’s so bad that you have to wait so long so will out in anthor complaint and once it’s sorted will bank elsewhere

Terrible blank, randomly blocking your account. Customer service beyond dreadful, transferring you to closed lines. Horrible experience.

If I could give a no star rating I would. Absolutely disgusting to deal with. No clue about customer service, just can't be bothered. Unable to make an appointment with branch even for distressing personal situations. Just have to go in and sit and wait until they can be bothered to see you.if you call and ask for help you invariably get 'that's not my area, can't help' no offer of transfer to right department. They obviously have a script to follow and anything outside of that there's no hope. Even with the feedback on TrustPilot they couldn't care less. This is over a period of time not a specific instance
The best bank
I’ve been with NatWest for few years and I’m genuinely surprised by so many bad reviews and comments… I found its services really great, the app is modern and everything works perfectly. Proper stable and predictable bank. I’ve never had a single issue with NatWest and always got a great customer service when needed. The app is extremely fast, modern, full of features and as great as digital banks that I don’t fully trust. Thank you, NatWest
Avoid at all costs
A scammers paradise of a bank I ordered something from a online site costing 38.99 once ordered they took 183.00 spoke to natwest they claim there is nothing they can do and advise me to speak to the very people who took the money whom are in China so I am the only loser in the deal never again will I bank with these scammers.

This bank is the most incompetent bank on the planet. I've been business banking with them for 10 years and every single service is riddled with glitches, faults, lack of response. Changing banks is always a hassle but I've had enough - I will be glad to see the back of this awful bank
Awful phone service
Awful phone service. I am trying to register an LPA for my mother who has lost capacity. Of the 8 institutions I've had to do this with, Natwest was by far the worst. Awful, rude, non-thinking, untrained operators.

You also don't use the same terminology for your own products. Who do I need to speak to, to complain as your costing me time and money........

Leaving this bank for good now since it’s the second time I’ve suspected them of something fishy since money is missing out my account and they don’t want to acknowledge it so I have switched. Avoid this bank and stop thinking banks can’t do anything fraudulent. Service is terrible too . They are not about us like banks usually say . Only to fill their pockets. Avoid NatWest I highly don’t recommend
Useless
I had an issue where I got scammed, and trying to call the helpline was useless and their little AI ‘helper’ was useless too. It sent me on a constant loop of being told to talk to the helper, then helpline, then helper. Not everything needs to be automated you know? Only reason they’re getting a 2, instead of a 1 is that as a general bank they’re decent. As long as no scamming or fraud happens to you, like me, Natwest is decent.
Shantina went above and beyond - she's an asset to this branch
I had an issue where my money got stuck in the automated machine, and initially I was told by Ben that NatWest wouldn’t call customers if the money was recovered, nor would they confirm the lost amount. I didn’t want to leave the branch without something in writing, and that’s when Shantina came to my rescue. She confirmed the amount and promised to call me once the money had been retrieved. True to her word, she called the following working day and confirmed that all the money would be in my account. Shantina is outstanding—professional, efficient, and a real asset to the Golders Green branch.

After a stream of letters from Natwest credit cards about constant debt, I decided to pay off the remaining amount on a Sainsbury's Card they took over, in full, in a branch. I asked them to close the account but was told I needed to ring their customer services to get this done. I have since received another statement and although showing I have a zero balance there is an added amount of interest. I rang the customer service team to pay the interest and close the account. I was left speechless when I was told I needed to download their app and do it all online. Natwest has ZERO interest in helping their customers and I have zero interest in banking with them. Totally useless.

Tried to pay off my Sainsbury’s credit card with a balance transfer 2 weeks ago but the money has never been credited to my account! The transferred funds are sitting somewhere within NatWest but nobody knows where. Worried sick I will be expected to pay both cards and nobody cares less. I've rang, messenger through facdbook, twitter all I get is don't worry it will be fine!!! At this rate I will have to pay NatWest and the other bank. Cora is absolutely useless, no humans or if there are they dont care!!
Horrendous customer service from…
Horrendous customer service from Natwest's bereavement services. 6 months on from my father's death I am still waiting for his account to be closed despite over a dozen phone calls to the department and multiple assurances that it will be done each time. All other banks (HSBC, Amex) have been efficient, compassionate and professional in their dealings, putting Natwest to shame for their total lack of proficiency.

I tried to view my card details and tried to do other things on my account and was met with a stupid message saying I need to complete a biopic password to view some features. I don’t support that. I have right s to privacy. I will be complaining about this. I will be closing my bank account with NatWest if this do ‘t change. Very stupid. don’t like companies like this that like to control people and invade my privacy. It’s out of order and backwards…
