Efficient, friendly.

Always a smile when you come in here, as a single woman you can feel intimidated on your own. No mansplaining here.

I've used this company before and had decent service, however on this occasion it was very disappointing. I had to have a punctured tyre replaced at short notice. The tyre was replace and I was asked if I would like the repair kit replaced at the cost of £24 as it had expired in 2024. The car was only purchased brand new that year so I was a bit shocked and resisted the replacement thinking the supplier should rectify this. However when I examined the repair kit it actually expired Dec 2028. To give them the benefit of the doubt there was another number on there that ended in 24, however this was a 7 digit number and clearly not a date and I had no response to an email I sent them informing them of this issue.
I then found the tyre deflation light came on repeatedly, despite the tyres being at the correct pressure and repeatedly being recalibrated. When I took it back to Protyre they found they had fitted a tyre of incorrect profile. For a company that specialises in tyres this is very poor service.

Good price and a friendly and professional attitude.

Good knowledge of vehicle tracking and alignment and wheel camber to correct a problem with my vehicle causing uneven tyre wear. Reasonable prices for premium tyres which made these a good option and the difference from the previous budget tyres is quite noticeable.
Also did free check on brakes with indication of amount of life to next service. Pleasant staff.

Booked a slot through Blackcircles at Protyre Autocare for 2 new front runflat tyres. Dropped the car off, went for a coffee and collected my car after 45 mins. Great efficient service!!

Paying almost £600 for a pair of tyres I expect not only for them to be fitted properly but all the wheel nut covers to be replaced. When I got home I found one locking wheel nut cover missing. I returned the following day to ask if they still had it. Looking around the forecourt they found two, which was revealing in itself, but not the one for my wheel nut. I was told "They're only a fiver on Ebay". Not feeling in the mood to argue I left and reflected on what happens when a small but great tyre company like Hawleys, who I've used for several cars for decades, gets swallowed up by a monopoly. Ok, there's the online booking that works, an efficientyoung woman on reception instead of the occasionally frazzled manager, trying to juggle too many appointments but I always knew that Hawleys had completed the job at a reasonable price and any residual problems, if any, would be sorted. No, Protyre, it didn't cost a fiver; it was £6.71 plus 2 hours of my expensive time. I shall, and suggest you do to, avoid this place until attitudes change so that the staff feel responsible for the whole completed work. Protyre could also lay in a stock of spare wheel nut covers to replace the ones that go missing. They're only a fiver on Ebay ....
Edit: to their credit Rick, the manager phoned me and apologised for the inconvenience. Also informed me that Hawleys have been part of Protyre for a decade. I've updated this review from 2 to 3 stars as a result of the apology.
