I was previously a patient at Horizon Dental, which was later taken over by Sage, prompting me to give it a try. During my visit for a cleaning and X-rays, the dental hygienist conducted the X-rays and photos before discussing necessary treatments, which I believed was the dentist's responsibility. Throughout the process, she frequently checked my insurance coverage and attempted to upsell me on a periodontal tray for nighttime use, claiming I had bone lossâsomething I had never experienced before. When the dentist arrived, she stated that everything looked good, but the hygienist continued to interject with concerns, creating a confusing atmosphere. After the dentist left, the hygienist insisted that I needed a deep cleaning, to be done in two stages, despite my protests that I had never required such treatment. I simply wanted a regular cleaning, but she refused, leading me to leave the office and seek care at McGregor Dental, where I received excellent service without any pressure to purchase additional treatments. I found the upselling tactics at Sage Dental unsettling and suspect that the hygienist may receive commissions for promoting extra services, which contributed to my discomfort during the visit.

Last year, I had a bridge done by Sage of the loop, and they charged me over $4000. A year later, it fell out. I went back to the clinic, and they wanted to charge me $7000 to completely redo the bridge. All I wanted them to do was to reglue it back.

I went to Sage Dental in Weston
I went to Sage Dental in Weston, Florida for a routine cleaning and was advised I needed deep cleanings. After my first deep cleaning I ended up with a gum infection which resulted in a root canal about 30 days later. My 2nd appointment with them they again stated I needed a deep cleaning. I again questioned the necessity of it and was told it was due to bone loss. After the second cleaning I experienced jaw pain for months and eventually another infection of my gums. I had gone to my previous dentist for approximately 25 years until he passed. At no point ever seeing him did he mention deep cleanings. I recently went to a new practice and after conducting the same consultation that Sage Dental conduced (x-rays, a periodontal exam and an oral exam) stated I never needed deep cleanings and have since began regular cleanings once again. The alleged deep cleanings Sage Dental stated I needed has messed up my gums. Hindsight is 20/20 but I should have picked up on how happy they were to see my insurance and want to schedule me for 3 deep cleanings a year. As for they way they billed my insurance, I have since spoken to the insurance company and discovered they billed me about 25% more than the allowable plan provisions. I have brought that to their attention in Dec 2025 & Feb 2026 and still have no resolution re the overcharges. Likewise, I asked for the limited dental records they had on me, 2 cleanings and a root canal in 12/2025 and still have not received all of my records. They have violated HIPPA by not providing my records to me within 30 days, sending my records to an unauthorized 3rd Party individual that I never provided them consent to send them to, and when they did send some records some were sent unencrypted across the internet all in violation of HIPPA. I have reached out to them at least 4 times by email and 4 times by phone with no resolution. I feel they did unnecessary work to bill the insurance carrier that wasn't needed, and now refuse to give me my records so I can fix whatever they have done.
And please don't tell me to reach out to patientfeedback@mysagedenta. I did reach out to them on 2/9/2026 via email as well as 2/12/2026, 2/20/2026 and 2/23/2026 and as of this writing I have obtained ZERO assistance or even a response from Sage Dental reference the overbilling, or the HIPPA violations. Also, included in this email thread is my request for the still missing records. I have the email chain pointing out the overbilling by Sage beyond the allowable plan allowances, the HIPPA issues and what I am still missing from my records. As of 2/23/2026, I have received no response to my last email.
You respond to people with issues and throw out that people that have problems should contact patientfeedback@mysagedental. That's nothing but a self serving way of making it look like you care, but you truly don't.

I shouldn't have chose 1 star! Sage is corrupt and Liars!!! I specific asked if there would be any cost to either myself and my insurance. THEY SAID NO! This was a consult. The dentist Nunez also lied I asked home the same question l. He said no! The dentist never even looked at my mouth or dentures as this is what I was needing help with. Outright corrupt liars. Visited them to get a surgery clearance for my spouse. To clarify, my wife is about to have a serious surgery, and a dental clearance is required. They tried all the cheap tricks to squeeze as much money they could for unnecessary and unneeded procedures. They took an image of every single tooth! Then they attempted to sell a narrative of how many expensive treatments my wife needed. I told them that we weren't there for any treatments. All we needed is a surgery clearance, i.e. an evaluation of my wife's dental health and a decision. This made those liars furios. They called another "dentist", a very rude and arrogant woman, who "examined" my wife's teeth by just eyeballing without using any tools, and made a "conclusion", that all my wife's teeth were deeply infected and needed a "deep cleaning"! Moreover, one tooth was so "bad" that it needed an extraction! At this point we told them that we didn't need their corrupt "services" any more and left. A few days later we visited a different dentist. A very experienced one. He carefully examined my wife's dental health. And guess what? No infection found, no tooth extraction needed, the procedure took about 20 minutes, and he produced a dental clearance for the surgery! Conclusion: the folks at Sage Dentistry are outright criminals who should end up in jail for their lies.

Theyâre only interested in your money, not your health
I went in with an abscess from a tooth that I had a previous root canal & crown and was told that I needed a âretreatâ for that tooth and the tooth next to it as well as 2 new crowns. I was sent to another location for an endodontist to do the work. Itâs been 2 years and Iâve been dealing with pain from the same 2 teeth. I went for a cleaning 6 months ago which was highly over-priced and there was no mention of an issue with the teeth that had the work done. Thank goodness I finally opted to go somewhere else and get a second opinion! Turns out the same 2 teeth were still infected all this time and Iâve suffered significant bone loss (11mm pocket) as a result! I also learned the crowns that were put on didnât fit properly as one has a significant over-hang. I contacted customer care and was told someone would contact me but after several attempts I gave up. I will do my best to make sure everyone is aware of my experience...

Update: I finally got a response from the office. I was told that the request to remove the charge from my account has been forwarded to the corporate office. They are the only ones who can remove the charge. The office manager told me to ignore the texts and the bills in the mail. The Sage Dental in Hollywood has been very difficult to deal with. The issue I have been dealing with has been going on for months. I am being continuously billed $3200 for services I never agreed to. The dentist proposed something to straighten my bottom teeth. At first, the cost was $4500. I told the dentist that I didnât want to do the procedure. A couple of months later, the price was down to $3200 at a cleaning appointment because they wanted me to have the best possible treatment. While seated in the chair, the office manager sat beside me and said not to worry about the moneyâŠand that I could make monthly payments. The dentist said she didnât know if one of the bottom teeth would have to be removed. I had another appointment for a new crown a couple of weeks later, so I told the dentist we would discuss it then. At that appointment, the dentist said the tooth would have to be surgically removed. I said that I absolutely did not want to do that and didnât want to get the other procedure. A few weeks later, I got a text and a bill in the mail saying that I needed to pay the $3200. I called and spoke to the manager, who said that I had intentionally not gotten the service because of the extraction that would be needed. She, the office manager, said that I didnât need the extraction. I told her that I wasnât going to get the service done regardless of her diagnosis. Iâve been to the office twice, called the office multiple times, and was told that the office manager would adjust my account. However, the texts and bills by mail keep coming. I left a voicemail when I got the latest bill the other day, and no response. When I tried to call the Sage Dental Corporate office, I was told each location handles its billing issues. I guess each location works on commission since they push so hard for services that arenât necessary.

They put my mom on a payment plan AFTER she gave them her insurance card and credit card. The payment plan had a 37% rate. Then, they called my mom and told her not to go back to the office, because I complained to the State about what they had done. She paid for dentures, and they called her and told her not to come back. THEN, they wrote a letter saying that she refused service, which was a lie. I don't recommend this place. They treated my mom horribly. My mom is 87 years old. In my mind, they committed elder abuse. Again, I don't recommend going to this place!

The assistant brought in my dentures they didn't fit she put some more pink stuff on them that was very hot and put in my mouth and made them fit they are very uncomfortable they still slip they're the worst dentures I have ever received from any dentist office. They have you sign that they are okay and whatever else they may you sign two things I guess saying that they are everything is good before they even put the dentures in your mouth which seems sort of strange to me I thought you always signed it after they were done I'm very unhappy and will never ever send anyone to sage dental. This place should be called "Thieves Dental" not Sage Dental. I recently had a consultation with them and they recommended a deep cleaning. They stated that they "contacted" my dentist insurance and it was going to be "fully covered". At the end they said "oh Sr I am sorry but you own us $550 today. I asked why and she said my insurance denied the payment. I called my insurance and the agent said that my next deep cleaning was going to be paid in August. Making the long story short please be caredul with these people. I will never go back or recommend anyone to go to this place. SO unprofessional!!! I asked to speak with the manager and she said:"oh Sr we arr really sorry that this happened. Next time we will make sure that is covered". What a joke!

What a ghetto acting dentist and assistant the way they treated me so very very very very very very very unprofessional I want to speak with someone over them! Me and 2 of my family members had switched to Sage Dental as it was closer for us. When I went, I've never had so many x rays that needed to be taken. I felt sick to my stomach because of the gag reflex and that plastic in my mouth so many times, very uncomfortable - and unnecessary in the MANY times I've had x rays taken. Sage then recommended a "deep cleaning." I later found out they recommended the same to my other family members. We visited on different dates and the cost was about $900 to us. Then, we could get regular maintenance. All of us go to the dentist regularly for cleaning, x rays, etc. and were experiencing no issues. They are scam artists who try to upsell everyone. I was one and done, when I requested my x rays, it took them a week just to email them. RUN, don't walk away from this place. A horrible experience from start to finish. It will be a good day in Dr. Phillips when their doors are closed for good.

I went to Sage Dental (Hypoluxo Rd) for a simple tooth extraction and I was quoted $300. After the procedure was finished I was handed an invoice for $865.00.
When I asked what the extra $500 was for I was told I needed a bone graft. I did not give permission for this nor do I think I needed one. When I tried to explain this to the dentist that performed the procedure the next day she hung up on me. I believe this is a common practice at this clinic, especially with older patrons that they feel they can take advantage of. The reviews online at Yelp and BBB speak for themselves.
