I recently contacted Spear & Jackson regarding a telescopic tree pruner I bought some time ago, as I needed a few spare parts. I was extremely impressed by the response from their Senior Customer Service Officer, Tracy Backhouse.

Tracy replied to my email immediately and kindly offered to send the spare parts to my address free of charge. This level of helpfulness and efficiency is rare these days, and it truly reflects exceptional customer care.

Spear & Jackson clearly values their customers, and Tracy’s professionalism, generosity, and prompt communication made the whole experience outstanding. It’s reassuring to know that there are companies who stand firmly behind their products and support their customers so well.

Have always used Spear&Jackson for my garden tools until being told by the that they use low impact material
Was in the garden using my Spear&Jackson spade and fork decided to lean my spade against the greenhouse it fell onto the path and snapped the handle off
Emailed them and was told this was and accident and we only use low impact material??

Bought a scarifier and second time out all the tines broke off the cassette. Thought it could have been my fault as it was set low to remove the lawn moss. Tried to purchase a replacement cassette and was told that their spares are handled by coreservice.co.uk. Contacted them and purchased (the unit was less than 6 months old) a replacement cassette. It was the wrong size and didn’t fit. Contacted the coreservice again and they sent me another. That didn’t fit either. Relayed my experience to both S&J and coreservice and both now are ignoring my requests for assistance. Absolutely awful after sales service.

Purchased a digging fork about 3 years ago, chose S&J over the DIY store own-brand fork because of the 10 year warranty. The wooden handle broke in two where it meets the shaft of the tines.
Emailed S&J honestly not expecting much, so many companies these days make promises they never have any intention of keeping but the S&J rep was super helpful, asked for some photos of the damage and 2 weeks later a new fork (with a 15 year warranty) arrived on my doorstep in New Zealand!! Now that is service!! Thank you S&J :)

I bought a Spear & Jackson lopper/pole saw at the beginning of last year. The blade broke after a fair amount of use. I could not find the correct replacement blade from the usual online suppliers so contacted S&J and received a complimentary replacement blade within 24 hours. Excellent service, good to see a company that stands behind its products.

Broken Edging Knife after 6 years use. No receipt but I contacted customer service & with minimal fuss Tracy arranged a free of charge replacement. Customer service as it used to be. Superb. Thank you.

Bought an S&J long-reach water spray attachment and a painting pad kit recently. Both items were almost useless. Spray attachment leaked from every joint despite tightening to max extent. The paint pad lost all it's hairs within minutes, while using emulsion paint.
Will not waste my money on any S&J merchandise in future.

Bought a Spear and Jackson telescopic tree pruner with additional saw attachement a few months ago. I had used the lopper very successfully but recently wanted to use saw attachment on much thicker branches however screw used to attach saw blade was missing. I thought I would contact S & J to ask if they could send one to me. I, almost instantly, received an email from Tracy to say she had put one in the post. Arrived today. First class customer service.

I bought a Black & Decker cordless mower , it’s out of warranty now.
Phoned for help as the 40v battery is dead, useless.
They don’t sell them anymore and they are unavailable in the U.K. So I now have a mower that is useless. They want a report?? The battery is dead….maybe I should see if I can organise a post mortem for it!!!

Excellent customer support, and a guarantee that means what it says! Pair of telescopic loppers suffered a broken twist lock on the handle after many years service. Had totally forgotten about the 10 year guarantee, just emailed asking about availability of spare parts. Angela sent a complete replacement set with compliments. You can trust a Spear and Jackson guarantee!!

A Company / Brand that still offers old fashioned Customer Service.
I treated my self to a Spear & Jackson garden fork around 5 years ago , whilst using it recently it appeared to break on a weld rending it usless.
I no longer had the receipt but noticed "Gauranteed for 10 Years" stamped on the shaft , a quick phone call to customer service resolved the issue , sent in a few photo`s and within the week a replacment fork was with me.
A big thank you to Angela A , Customer Service Officer for all your assistance.
This level of service will definatley influence my next brand purchase.

I contacted Spear and Jackson via email I had lost the spring and bolt on my long reach cutter. They were extremely helpful and sent me replacements in the post.

I bought a extendable tree lopper which is very good. Unfortunately I stupidly lost a nut which attaches a saw to the appliance. I sent an email asking if I could buy a replacement. That was 2 months ago. No reply. Spear and Jackson would appear to have little regard for customer service or customer satisfaction. Poor job.

bought this fence/shed paint and it’s like water, would probably take quite a few coats to have any effect. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Recently bought a garden pump which developed a small issue. Have had a few telephone conversations with Tracy who has been absolutely brilliant and sorted my problem quickly and in a friendly, positive and helpful manner.

We have brought Dark oak decking stain for many years now they have decided to change the colour why ??

I purchased my second pair of Spear & Jackson leaf grabbers as the first pair were absolutely amazing.
The first pair had me hooked on a product “ I could not do without “ The replacement pair were however a huge disappointment and not the same as my original pair. Despite the fact they looked identical! I’m very annoyed as I am finding my old worn out pair of more use than the new ones. The plastic grabbers are not as think and robust. They do not align properly. The fixing have changed from the original and they don’t grab anything more than died leaves without buckling in shape. I would assume parts and components have been changed to increase profit.. well if you are going to do this then at least test them first to make sure they work and perform the same as the original ones.
I have been a good customer of Spear & Jackson over the years but after reading these reviews I’m done !
You have put profit above quality. Another customer lost !

Bought a 42cm cordless S&J lawnmower with 2 batteries from Argos. After having the old model for 3 years and the batteries fading. The new model is worse on nearly every metric. Flimsy, unwieldy and uncomfortable to pick up when carrying. I have to go over the garden a couple of times to get the same results as previous model. Not good!

Rotary Electric Lawnmower. Power failed just after warranty ran out. After sales support automated.... " if your warranty has run out then go to this website they be able to help....goodbye"
What a bunch of tossers. Spear and Jackson are just a brand name for Chinese rubbish. Avoid at all costs.
