This website is fully a scam.
my link speed is max 20mbps but it showing me 150mbps hahhahah how funny

this website is so annoying because when im trying to get the top score it keep rising and saying im close to beat it. FIX IT.

I tested in Deventer, all was perfect.
The staff very friendly and the result came in nearly next morning.

BIG SCAM..They are certainly receiving payment from ISPs. Got so frustrated with my speed that I can barely load a single webpage. Lo and behold, speedtest.net gave me a 4mbps result. What a joke. When I searched for a more reliable site it gave me an accurate..wait for it...0.2 mbps speed! This is not the first time that it happened to me. Scammers are effing cancer.

Don’t fall for it! Was hilarious to string them along whilst they ‘waited’ for me to type speedtest.net and then transfer me to tech support. Caller not happy that I strung her along for 20 minutes whilst I actually washed up and cleaned my floors!

Random Indian call center claimed to be from TalkTalk and that they were trying to check my internet speed issues. I am not with TalkTalk and the speed check was good, but I wanted to see what I could get from them. They first get you to use TalkTalk's valid site, then they want you to visit www (dot) speedtest (dot) net (which I now think is actually okay). However they will try and get you to install some screen share type program or offer you a refund i.e. Get you to give them your account details.
After stringing them along for a while they realised I was not going to fool for it and swore at me for wasting their time, which I think means I won.

Beware This is a scam 00821083345522 was the number that called me. They try to get you to go to speedtest.net and then ask you to click consent. Do not do this , they will access your device/computer

The male caller in India was very abusive. After refusing from us to visit www dot speedtest dot net, the caller laughed and said 'I want to fuc... your wife'. Then they called us three times again early this morning. We are very disappointed that the UK government allows that to happen.

I have just spent 16 minutes with Speedtest (Jane Lewis and a very strong Indian accent) She claimed to be with Openreach, and advised me that I have a problem with the speed on my internet. and needed to log on to her website, I did this and she tried to get me to hit the consent box, I refused as it meant giving permission to send me junk mail. she got very abusive, accused me of wasting her time. I gave her a piece of my mind, asked for her supervisor, she then hung up on me.

Never seen fake site like this..showing speed 50 Mbps and not even opening single web page. Checked with google speed test and show 0 Mbps at the same time. this happened many times. and service provider always show this site for speed, specially airtel network service provider.

This site is so helpful for you to evaluate your speed, especially for those working from home like me. It is so necessary to check your speed from time to time to make sure that you are getting the speed that your paying for on your ISP.

These people are only interested in taking your money, and perhaps more. Beware.

I called my company because of slow internet and they told me to go to speedtest and download the app to test my speed since "Websites often can't tell how fast you really can go, often given you a lower number"

On the website I had like 700 mbps
On the app I had 150 mbps
But the website "often given you a lower number" =3=

The app MIGHT be more legit, but the website is full of lies.

Complete scam. This website shows perfect speed tests, almost any other speed test site shows the problem I am having. Real world applications showing 1/6th the speed speed test.net shows. They are sponsored by many companies.

Total Scam,

they pretend to be the ISP and say that they are seeing errors from the Router. Then they make you look at Event Viewer and Broadspeed.net to say your internet is slow due to your computer.

Then they try to get you to install AnyDesk.com software that enables them to take control of your computer satin its needed to connect to central system

Speedtest.net download results are egregiously high. My internet was running extremely slow for several days. Low resolution photos were taking several minutes to display, YouTube videos wouldn't play at all and search engine results took 2-3 minutes to display. These speeds are reminiscent of dial-up. So I ran speedtest.net as previously instructed by my provider. I ran it several times and my results ranged from 41-52mbps download and 5-7mbps upload. I found this unlikely so I tried 4 different test sites and my results were radically different for download; they ranged from 0.4-1.3mbps download and 6-7mbps upload. I ran speedtest.net and the other sites at the same time just to see if my speed could be dropping between tests. Speedtest.net still displayed the inflated results while fast.com, xfinity and speedcheck were consistent with sub 1mbps download. Are service providers paying speedtest.net to display the egregiously inflated download speeds so consumers gain confidence that their service provider is delivering on speed promises? If so, that is unethical. Consumers want accurate and expected speed information not a utopia speed they will never achieve because they do not have a direct gateway to their provider servers.

Also had someone claiming to be from Sky direct me to this website. As soon as I told them what the download and upload speeds were the line went dead - clearly a scam, beware!

Speedtest only shows the absolute maximum reached at any point during the test. It needs to show your average speed to be useful to any real degree at all. My test showed speeds between 30-40 except for the last second or two of the test - then it jumped to about 100. Speedtest reported my speed as 100. I watched the whole test and with an average of between 30-40, to report only the speed at the very end is not honest or accurate at all. Use Speedof.me - it does several tests and shows the average speed of all of them combined. Much more accurate and honest. I've tried both several times over a few weeks. The speeds reported are not even close. Speedtest.net always shows exaggerated much higher speeds than what I really get consistently.
