Purchased a £500 Asus laptop in September 2021. Three weeks out of warranty and it fails to switch on. Took it to my local reputable computer repair shop who said the motherboard was the problem. Response from Student computers when I emailed my disappointment “ If you would like a second opinion on the fault, we would be happy to take a look and offer a price on repair if it is repairable“. I expect it is a profitable business repairing “just out of warranty” computers! Very disappointed and will not use again.

This is my first ever review but I was left really dissappointed by the whole experience.

My purchase was flagged by the team at student computers as fraud because I bought two monitors and wanted them shipped to two separate addresses (I have a small business and was sending one monitor to an employee's home to improve their working from home set up). The flagging is all part of good due dilligance however the subsequent chain of events was very frustrating.

1. First there was no contact about delays/ potential fraudulent activities.

2. Then after two weeks of radio silence (expecting delivery after 2-4 days as advertised on their site), I had to reach out to find out the status/ problem.

3. They then promised to ship the monitors as soon as possible.

4. Then within I think 24 hours of promising to ship the monitors Student Computers decided to refund them instead. Even though I made it clear it wasn't a fraudulent purchase and wanted the monitors to be shipped.

5. Worst of all, they then told me I had to reorder with a price increase of almost 30% and there was nothing they or I could do about it.

I would have expected Student Computers to offer to at least partially cover this extra cost since the situation was their lack of professionalism.

I will not be buying from Student Computers again.

I bought an HP laptop from this company last October (2021) costing £1150. 10 months later the laptop developed a problem so I took it to a local reputable computer outlet to diagnose the problem (thinking it would be a software issue) it turned out to be a faulty motherboard, £650 to repair.
StudentComputers first reaction when I contacted them was to say they consider the warranty void as the computer outlet had opened the laptop to diagnose the problem and are not interested in helping.

I would not buy from this company again.

Site is a little misleading.
Selling certain products 'item only' ie no peripherals. This is acceptable, they stated it has no peripherals, which is fair - but they're doing it for products that cannot function without those peripherals (ie selling something that will not work out-of-the-box, but not stating specifically, that it 'will not work out-of-the-box). The VR headsets are a prime example.

Beyond that, a cursory glance at a few of the pre-built computers shows us they are selling them at massively inflated price.
Best example is a computer prebuilt for/around a GTX1070 video card, selling at £3000+. That video card retails for ~£107. This is usually the, or equal to, the most expensive part of the computer. In a computer priced at £3000+.

Also-
They're mentioned as 2 different companies according to some of these reviews (company name on this page not matching company name mentioned in some reviews) which is another one of those things that lowers confidence in them, for a casual shopper.

Is this a genuine company? We’ve bought an iPad pro that is not working. Stop working on 2nd day. We’ve send Facebook messages. Left voice mail messages and emailed. Had no response at all. Facebook messages haven’t even been seen. Will drive over again today to the “unit” where we collected the iPad from to see if we can find someone to talk to.

Ordered a refurbished Samsung monitor for home working from Student Computers. Delighted with the condition (tip top, as if brand new) and quick speed of delivery for the price, absolutely excellent. Highly recommended.

Cannot fault the service provided by Student Computers/ Spotbuyer. I receive my order in a timely manner over the festive holidays. I wasn’t happy with how the item was working and received a response once the offices reopened and a refund issued swiftly. Would definitely use again

Delivered in good time and ordering was easy. The packaging wasn't very discreet so someone found out they were getting a toaster for Christmas 2 weeks early. Other than that, everything was fine.

Great all round experience brilliant goods great bargain. Kept updated with delivery time and when it arrived it was packaged very well. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Excellent after sales service - my ordered part was dispatched correctly addressed correctly but unfortunately was delivered to someone else by the delivery company.
When this was brought to Student Computers attention they immediately took ownership of the problem and kept me informed of the progress.

The issue was resolved and I will not hesitate to return to this independent company who give a 1st class service for my future needs.

Excellent genuine Apple AirPods. Bought for Xmas gift .Very good price and fast delivery will definitely buy from again
