Talbots does not allow order cancellations.
While I love their clothes, they are just too difficult to deal with, if there is an issue. I purchased 2 tops at the end of July (late night Saturday.) One of the colors was a little too bright, so I went to cancel, early Sunday morning (less than 12 hours later,) and could not.
Called customer support & the rep. lied to me, saying it had already shipped. Unlikely- Talbots is located in MA & does not run 24/7. He was insistent that it had shipped, but would try to cancel the backordered one. Unbeknownst to me, the backordered one was the color I still wanted!
Multiple calls and emails, over the following 3 weeks seemed to iron out the issue. The top (in the color I did not want,) arrived almost 3 weeks later - so much for same day shipping & Cus. Svc. sent me a return label, which was used to ship it back.
Today, Sept. 28th, over 8 weeks after trying to cancel this order, I received an email that I had “store credit” for the price of the top, but did not receive a credit for the shipping charges. Emailed Talbots back to refund the money, since I do not plan to order from then again, after this debacle!

I had to return some items that I had ordered online at Talbot’s in Horseheads, NY. I paid for my purchases with my PayPal account. When the return was completed a small portion of my refund went back to my Pay Pal account while the majority was returned in store credit. JULIE DICKSON, sales manager of the Horseheads store tried several times to make the adjustment, called two different reps to help, and spent nearly one hour straightening it out for me. And throughout it all she was very polite and had a big smile on her face. She should be commended for her persistence in this matter. And I appreciate it very much as I needed the money to be put back into my account. Thank you JULIE DICKSON.
Great quality, good price
I was skeptical about ordering a dress online, but since I could return it to the store for free, I did order a summer dress that was on sale. This is the first time I’ve ordered clothing that was cuter in person than on the website picture. It fits perfectly, is of good quality and fully lined. I’m very pleased with Talbots.
Unacceptable customer service
My wife and I are extremely disappointed with the customer service through Talbots regarding returns and refunds. First of all there is a charge for returns, then a one to two week waiting period for the returns to be received, and then an additional 3 week waiting period for the refunds to be given. This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! Given what other retailers can offer and quickly accomplish, we will not be shopping at Talbots ever again.

I am a Talbots credit card holder, and since gas prices are so high, I decided to order online. I had an order for $175.00 and was charged $8.95 shipping. Needless to say, I cancelled my order and probably get rid of card too!!

Talbots is a bit expensive but it is of good quality. This is what quality use to be 10 years ago for everyone else. Now you have to pay extra for it. Customer service in stores is excellent. People see them as a ritzy expensive store so they only survive in town where people have "money".
Customer service in the store is excellent as they push a higher level of customer service on their staff. They must adhere to specific levels of customer service. That's probably what keeps me coming back. Their clothing style is a bit trendy so it forces you to buy cloths more often so they don't become too dated. When they become very dated it's pretty obvious. Their clothing styles fit more of the "average" sizes of society. Most of society these days is large and Talbots has been good at not plus sizing their normal clothing. I can not tell you how difficult it is to find clothing for someone that carries a little weight but isn't obese.
Online ordering is decent but has it's pluses and minuses. Shipping is standard but online returns can either be done at the stores or sent back by mail. Mail is slow and returns are some what slllooowww. I have had very few issues with online returns. You have to keep in mind that the negative reviews are the 10% of issues gone wrong. Generally you can settle disputes by calling their 800# and be professional in your replies. If your parcels are lost in the slough of their system they're pretty decent about honoring an instant credit.

Do not mail your returns back to Talbots if you can help it. They take 3 weeks to a month to accept and process your credit. Last year I returned a large order by mail and only got my credit after more than a month and repeated contacts to Talbots customer service -- despite the fact that they had received my return weeks before. Quality of clothing has really deteriorated over the years as well. I would not shop there at all were it not for the fact that it is difficult to find Petite clothing anywhere now.
Rude customer service employee
Rude customer service employee. When I called about an issue with purchasing on line - for some reason an error message kept coming up - never had this problem before - She had a very rude response when what she told me to do was not the solution to the problem.

BEWARE Bait-and-Switch pricing change; Customer Service to the rescue!
Shopped on-line for spring clothes, incentivize by 25% Off on total order, plus a $20 coupon for Birthday promo program. Put four items in basket. Website automatically applied discounts and I entered code for $20 coupon. Website showed total, including tax and shipping of $161.58. Great I thought. Good prices for non-essentials. Hit button marked "Continue", which took me to check out and total amount of $193.83!! Good thing I checked before hitting "Order." What gives? Jacking up price without warning -- how sleazy can you get; borders on down-right fraud. Clearly Bait-and-Switch. Tried to get clarification from 800 line but after holding for 20 minutes decided to write this review while on hold -- gave them a reasonable chance to address the issue before "going public." Well, before posting a most helpful customer service person answered. She offered to place the order over the phone. She was able to apply the same discount codes and got the same price as I had: $161.58. Put the order on my Talbots credit card and it went through. She promised to report the website issue to Talbots' IT department. Two Stars because of Customer Service Reps help. Not 3 stars because of 20+ minutes on hold.

I ordered 4 items online almost 2 months ago. Don’t received my order and I called to customer care , they said we cannot see the Canadian tracking number. I was waiting for Last 1 month for my order and even the money was refunded but it was not correct and it was less which I supposed to pay and again I called to The customer service rep was not the least bit concerned. Her indifferent attitude upset me very much. Even they don’t apologize me. Please don’t order from Talbots online as they don’t care about their customers and was really horrible experience.

I ordered a sweater online almost 2 weeks ago. I got an email stating it was shipped but nothing came. No tracking info. available. I contacted via "live chat" to locate my order. I was informed that they "immediately lost" my order upon shipment & I have to re-order it myself. My money was not refunded nor was I informed it was lost. The customer service rep was not the least bit concerned. Her indifferent attitude upset me very much. I immediately unsubscribed from emails and am not doing business with Talbots again. Here is hint for Talbots - all the service rep had to do was state "we are so sorry for our mistake. I will reorder that item for you and expedite the shipping. You will receive it shortly" But instead, they lost a good customer. Very bad business model. Who is running that business?
Sedate your staff
Talbot store manager verbally abused me when she accused me of saying something to a staff, which I didn't say. Her staff's first language is not English and she obviously thought I said something I didn't say, but didn't ask me to repeat it or qualify what I said or meant, which I would have done if she asked. Staff member complained to manager who was not around us to hear what I said. The manager berated me and told me how I should talk. The manager followed me around the store and would not give up accusing me. Another staff came over to me and told me to let it go because it's Christmas. Not my holiday, not her business to tell me how I should behave. Also she wasn't around us to hear what I or the manager said. I felt as if they were demeaning to me and giving me lessons on how I should speak. It was a frightful retail experience and I would never shop at Talbots again. I did keep my cool and didn't lose my temper. I did not complain to head office, I don't want these people to lose their job, but head office needs to train their staff as to what customer service involves.

the new stock regularly. The salespeople are always very friendly and helpful. They willingly take returns of both new clothing and clothing that did not wash well, etc. It is a very reliable company.

I had a sales associate order a dress that was not in the store. I received the wrong item in the print that the dress was in. I am very disappointed that I waited for over a week for this dress only to find out it was the wrong item. I was going to wear this dress to a wedding. The dress is NOT available in any size. Very unhappy with Talbots sales associate. Now I have to return the item.
