It was my first time using a law firm and the experience was excellent. From the moment I stepped into the office I Feld secure and welcomed. I was introduced to Ola McGhee and she was just brilliant. She navigated me through every procedure in my “office issue” . She is an excellent listener and always there with a positive attitude. She even went the extra mile answering mails , way past office hours…… I really felt that there was someone on my side always. Needless to say that my “ work related issue” turned to my Favor……
As for the cost , the price was really really fair!

Kirsten Vincent completed the conveyancing for both the sale and purchase of my properties. Kirsten was amazing! She is highly efficient, responsive and knowledgeable. With a highly complex purchase she kept everything on track and without her its likely it would have fallen through. Kirsten has been instructed on a number of my family property transactions over the years and always does a fantastic job! I highly recommend Kirsten for any property conveyancing.

We receved an excellent conveyancing service with everything done promptly and efficiently on reasonable terms. Fee options (fixed or estimated) were clearly explained by Tees at the outset allowing us some scope to choose the better one for us based on how we expected the transaction to proceed. We'd have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Tees for a property sale or purchase with particular mention to Kirsten and Nadeem who handled our file.

Toni Chalmers-Smith and her colleagues at Tees law have been absolutely excellent in helping me to navigate the ongoing funding of my mother’s care home care. They have provided professional and empathetic advice, explaining issues which I was unfamiliar with. They explained the different options available to me with much patience and implemented the plan very effectively.

As a first time buyer my husband and I were rather daunted by the process however Tees (in particular Tina Allen) guided us through the process helping us overcome the various hurdles which arose and completing the purchase. Will definitely be instructing again for future legal matters.

I instructed Tees Brentwood to deal with probate. To say their service was appalling would be an understatement. They missed HMRC deadlines resulting in interest charges being levied, they lost cheques, they failed to add savings to the IHT400 which resulted in more interest charges. When I emailed asking who was at fault they ignored me. It took a letter of complaint ( after the bill had risen from a second estimate of £18k to £30k, the original estimate was £8k!) for them to admit their errors. I took them to the ombudsman. Out of 12 issues I raised 8 were deemed "unreasonable service" The ombudsman works on evidence, Tees do not minute meetings or supply itemised invoices (very bad practice). There was no "evidence" that they had charged the estate for all the extra work to put right their errors and charges for countless e-mails I sent advising them of their errors. They showed no duty of care to their client, they made a very stressful time an absolute nightmare that lasted over 2 years. Do not use this firm. They do not care about their clients just their bank balance.

I was happy to instruct Tees for my recent property transaction. I found the conveyancing team of Lisa, Kerry, and Jenny very pleasant to deal with. I have no complaints with any aspect of the process, i.e. expertise, knowledge, timeliness, communication (whether is person, on the telephone, or via email) etc. I will shortly be undertaking another transaction and have had no hesitation in instructing the same team in that as well. Thanks to all.

Initially I worked with Lisa Honey and subsequently Caitriona Rafferty. They were both fantastic advocates at what was an incredibly difficult time. Mr Keith Whitton, treated me with respect and had my financial welfare carefully prepared and how any withdrawal would affect me. He was utterly professional. Before proceeding with any transaction I would get an email to ensure he one understood the requirements. As well as sending the email he would take time out in his busy day and phone me to ensure the decision of the email was correct. As a elderly person I appreciate his, thoughtfulness and his work ethics.

I used a Guy called Jason Torrance who is now somehow a senior partner.
They have absolutely no intention of looking after their clients.
This guy charged me tens of thousands of pounds and wrongly directed me.
Infact I paid for him over four years to end up with a bill of over £30,000 to take the wrong people to court.
He is now using his cousel as an excuse.
I have battled with an insurance company and chased this man to only receive his lies.
He knows i have found him and his company out.
They are only interested in your money and will try the easiest way to settle a dispute regardless of their fees.
Please call me for advice. I’m happy to show proof of how they act and of their intentions.

Your associate Mr Jason Torrance has had ample opportunity to resolve many issues as you will hopefully see in all my emails throughout the whole case..
I have filed my complaints with Elaine Walsh yesterday. I will take the correct procedures before I Contact the SGA.

Your amended response to my complaint is totally unjust.
For all to see they have admitted their incompetence.
Offer no apology.
Not one word mentioned about the £30000 they Charged me over 4 years for them to waste my life and offer me nothing in return.

So they have ceased acting for me because of
Their negligence not mine.
They have used an unjustified excuse.
My court case is to be heard in December albeit to the wrong defendants.
They refuse to amend the correct proceedings.
Obviously after capping fees this will incur further costs of which they never had any intensions of honouring.

As I go through all the correct complaint procedures I will keep trust pilot open for you to see the outcome unfold.

I will include the ombudsman and SGA.
I believe Jason Torrance should be struck off,
I shall do all in my power to stop this man from doing this again.

Again Tees have dealt with another house sale for me in an efficient, professional, fast and friendly way. My thanks to Tina and her team.

Had dealings with Toni, who dealt expertly and sensitively with obtaining an annuity for my mum's care in a nursing home. Toni's specialist knowledge and understanding, together with her empathy ver invaluable at a very sensitive time.

Fantastic firm. Professional and knowledgeable. In particular Harry Calder is exceptional. He had sheer tenacity when dealing with my very difficult case. With his efficiency and the fact he was 'all over' the detail and timings of deadlines he made me feel like I was an absolute priority. Without him and his tireless attention to detail, I'm sure I would not have had the settlement outcome I did.

Tees procedures are appalling. They have let us down on 2 separate occasions: the first was during our house purchase when they did not check that the Completion Date we wanted was accepted by the seller's solicitors. It turned out it wasn't so the the Completion Date was a week later than expected - we found out the day before we expected to move! The second occasion came to light four years later when we were re-doing our Wills. Our new solicitors found that our property was incorrectly registered. It turns out that Tees just forwarded forms on the Land Registry without checking them. Admittedly, we had missed a question but if Tees had done their job properly by checking the paperwork, it would have avoided our property was incorrectly registered. Despite complaining, Tees would never accept responsibility - it was always someone else's fault.

After a series of gut-wrenching meetings with other solicitors, I was seriously questioning not just the process, but my future. That changed when I was referred to James - a recommendation from within the legal profession itself, which spoke volumes.

While face-to-face meetings aren’t essential these days, I’m a bit old school, and from our first meeting, I knew I wanted James to represent me.

This was during an incredibly tough period where, frankly, I wasn’t at my cognitive best. I needed someone not only legally sharp but emotionally intelligent to help negotiate a financial consent order; particularly against what I’d call a “Google warrior” (meant only to reflect the challenge of dealing with someone informed, but not always realistic).

From the start, James was exceptional: swift to engage, highly responsive, always respectful and professional. His calm, measured approach brought much-needed clarity and reassurance when tensions could easily have boiled over.

What stood out wasn’t just that we achieved an outcome many thought impossible - it was how we did it. James brought a rare balance: strategic, empathetic, and always grounded in realism. He never encouraged unnecessary conflict or point-scoring, despite our oppositions conflict even aggressive based engagement. Ultimately he helped me focus on what truly mattered, saving time and money, but also a great deal of emotional strain despite it being me that initiated this mess.

Divorce is never pretty. If there’s any chance to repair things above ego or pride - TAKE IT. But if that’s no longer plausible, and you want to protect your well-being in the long term (and that of any children), avoid the all too common “win” mindset or it’ll cost you more than you know.

If you need someone trustworthy in your corner. For me, that is hands down James. Without hesitation or doubt, I would recommend him. He’s a true credit to his profession.
