We have just recently completed a stand alone hup! Building.
We had site support from Gary who was incredible, really knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, more than happy to answer all of our questions.
We had him for 3 days.
We managed to construct everything from the base to the roof in those days and he left us feeling confident to complete everything else which we have now done so all completed in a week.

I recently completed a 2-day training with Mark, and it was an excellent experience. As someone who is just starting in the construction industry, I found the course extremely valuable and well-structured.

Mark is a very knowledgeable and approachable instructor. He explained everything clearly, answered all questions with patience, and made sure everyone understood the material before moving on. The training was both practical and engaging, which made it easy to follow and apply in real situations.

I feel much more confident starting my journey in construction after this course. I would highly recommend this training to anyone, especially beginners looking for a solid foundation.

Excellent experience, joy to work with

Everyone I have had the pleasure of dealing with at Ultraframe has been unbelievably helpful, knowledgeable and above all supportive.
Right from the start of the install working with George Brown who made our first flat roof a breeze giving us loads of time saving tips without cutting corners and even getting stuck in helping with fitting.
The guys in the office, Mark Bowler in particular helped out with the building control as he had never seen a HUP system before. Also putting us on the right track with the correct Monocouche render to use on the cement boards.
They have all been an absolute joy to work with and personally hoping to do plenty more of these in the future.
Thank you everyone I’ve dealt with at Ultraframe.

using Ultra as a trade installer has been very efficient from my first quote. We took delivery of our first hup home extension with the option to have an assisted fit by Gary and Mark are very informative, both members of staff were very polite on site whilst with our customer I will definitely be using Ultra frame in the future and recommend toanybody thinking of using Ultra frame

Since taking over prefix I’ve personally noticed a massive decline in customer experience

I’m currently on my honeymoon abroad with no wi fi phoning everyone in there company to try and get an answer to what time they can be bothered turning up to deliver 2 sets of our doors

Despite the fact we have been very clear with the importance of the deliveries today after already waiting longer than planned and never having any communication

No team member is bothered like they used to be it seems

I used to deal with one staff member but since he retired it’s caused nothing be aggro for my
Company and this today has just topped it

Very poor quality of internal trimmings.

Since my previous review, i have discovered that my installers did not supply me with the aftercare manual which would have told me that i should not install internal blinds which created the plastic to warp. however, i still believe that it is very poor planning to use plastic trimmings in a conservatory especially as we know that our summers are getting hotter.

Thank you for supplying additional details in relation to your complaint. Further to our recent communications via email, we have investigated the issues you are experiencing and the incorrect installation of internal blinds is leading to excessive heat build-up between the blinds and glazing bars in warm weather which is resulting in the material distortion.

The maintenance guide you should have been supplied with clearly states the installation of internal blinds is not recommended as this can lead to water ingress and deflection/distortion of the roof materials.

We haven't received any requests for replacement parts from your installer. Replacement components and parts are currently on a very short lead time from our customer service department should your installer wish to request the required replacement parts.

If your installer requires any technical support or assistance, please ask them to contact our technical team who will be happy to help.

Devastated by a failed project, tens of thousands lost, no accountability from Ultraframe/Hup!t

We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by our experience with Ultraframe/Hup! and their recommended installer, Michael Sullivan (trading as Eco Build Up Ltd / Eco Possibilities). What began as an exciting project to replace our old conservatory with a modern Hup! extension has turned into a financial and emotional nightmare. We’ve lost tens of thousands of pounds and been left with an unfinished, unsafe building site attached to our home — and a back garden that’s been destroyed.

We found Michael Sullivan through Hup!/ Ultraframe’s “Find an Installer” tool, whereby customers input their information and Hup/Ultraframe pass the details onto one of their installers. We trusted (as many would) that this meant he was vetted, reputable, and aligned with the promises made in Hup!’s marketing and social media such as: “local, reliable, Hup! approved” builders, watertight builds in five days, a seamless single-supplier model, and energy efficiency “five times better than the average home.”

The reality couldn’t have been more different.

From the start, Mr Sullivan was unreliable. His team was frequently absent and he ultimately vanished after being paid 90% of our total build costs. He mismeasured the build and then disappeared entirely — ignoring all contact, including legal letters. His former team told us he had changed address without informing us, and it appears he hasn’t even updated his company details and accounts with Companies House.

Despite Hup!/Ultraframe being fully aware that Mr Sullivan had abandoned the project — and that we had already paid him in full — we were shocked to receive a solicitor’s letter on their behalf stating that he hadn’t paid them for the Hup! materials. The very next working day, we contacted the solicitors to explain the situation. Regardless, within 4 days we were sent debt collectors to our home to demand payment — from us. Even though we had already paid.

Hup!/Ultraframe admitted that Michael Sullivan along with their other builders are not actually “approved” — and that they do not vet the installers they refer onto their customers on their website. This completely contradicts their advertising and public messaging. Throughout this ordeal, their support was minimal at best. It took two months for the technical team to amend the mis measurement issue. They referred us onto two other installers with minimal handover to the installer of the mis-measurement problem - one of whom did not respond and had little availability. The other installer they connected us with quoted £1,000 per day plus travel costs just to assess whether the existing materials were usable — a cost we simply could not afford, especially on top of what we’d already paid or to start again they wanted us to pay the same as the original build costs and that was with Hup/Ultraframe's supposed 'Preferential Discounts.'

Throughout dealing with them since April Hup!/Ultraframe refused to take accountability, and left us with no realistic or affordable way to finish the project.

Hup!/Ultraframe may promote their system via glossy ads and celebrity endorsements (such as Laura Jane Clarke from BBC’s Your Home Made Perfect), but when things go wrong, there is no safety net, no accountability, and no real customer protection.

After nearly nine months with Hup! materials in our garden — ruining the grass underneath — we had no choice but to ask Hup!/Ultraframe to come and remove them, just to avoid having to pay even more to dispose of it ourselves.

This ordeal has had a devastating impact on our finances, our health, and our family life. We’ve lost tens of thousands of pounds, had to take time off work due to stress, and pay for storage for a kitchen we still cannot install. This isn’t just a failed home improvement — it’s trauma.

The Hup!/Ultraframe model — which involves referring customers to unvetted third-party installers while taking no responsibility when things go wrong — feels not only flawed, but potentially misleading under consumer protection regulations.

Please be warned: this is not the “fast, energy-efficient, one-supplier” solution it claims to be. Do your due diligence. And think very carefully before placing your trust in Hup!/Ultraframe, the Hup! system, or their “Find an Installer” tool.

Dear Maxine & family, as you’re aware from our ongoing correspondence, we are completely devastated and very sorry about the situation with Mr Sullivan and have offered various solutions to try to help you resolve this.

Whilst we appreciate that this is different for us, we too are owed tens of thousands of pounds from Mr Sullivan. We are undertaking legal proceedings to try to recover some of our debts from Mr Sullivan, but we did not and NEVER would try and collect any kind of debt from a homeowner. The letter referred to was sent to Mr Sullivan and not addressed to yourselves. This was immediately made clear and reassurances given – we can confirm that our debt collection agency did not send debt collectors to your house. I don’t know if they were send from other parties owed money by Mr Sullivan, but certainly not by us.

All hup! builders on the website are fully trained in the classroom and on site in how to build a hup!, however they are independent businesses, and we only have so much influence on their business decisions. It is difficult to control their actions and how they contract with their customers is confidential and there are some legal constraints. If we get negative feedback we do follow it up and if responses are not satisfactory we remove builders. Mr Sullivan was removed from the website as soon as we had this feedback – thank you

We ask all the hup! builders that are on our website to offer Insurance Backed Guarantees and staged payments, but this is difficult to monitor as the build contract is confidential and between the homeowner and the builder. The builders are using hup! but there are other elements and services they are providing to build a complete extension.

We are surprised by Mr Sullivan asking you to pay such a huge proportion of the bill upfront. It is uncommon for builders to ask for, or for any homeowner to be willing to pay such a large proportion of the cost up front, and it is not something we would advise on any type of home improvement project. We advise customers on our website to pay in stages. If anyone rings us we advise 15-20% as a first payment.

We all know that unfortunately these things can happen. Even with financial due diligence, all available financial data on companies can be 18 months out of date.

We also advise homeowners on our website to ask if their project is covered by insurance-backed guarantees and to insist on staged payments, to protect them from situations like this.

This would be the same advice for any type of build, whether hup! or a traditional build. Please see here for further guidance on IBGs and staged payments.

Even if an IBG is not in place, providing staged payments are in place, it is entirely possible for another installer to complete the work without further significant cost to the homeowner. As you know we found another builder willing to help you and we offered to give you / them all our hup! components for free, but obviously in your circumstances they would still need to charge you for the other elements of the build and their costs, so still an additional cost for yourselves.

Whilst incredibly sad, this situation is exceptional and not reflective of the hup! experiences of the vast majority of customers.

Obviously, we have been talking offline about this issue for a while and we have just sent another email with further offers of help which we hope may be a help to you.
