As you specifically asked if there was anything that could be done to speed this up, we provided you with a troubleshooting guide for both Windows and Mac, that focuses on the main causes of lagging programs
Incidentally, hardware problems do not evenly affect all games and design software, so even if only vanspace 3D seems to be the trigger, your hardware must still be checked.

This is caused by three reasons only. 1. Your connection, 2. You are running a Firewall, VPN or other network affecting program or 3, Your browser extensions
Can't even change from inches to cm
This means that something on your system is blocking the signals between your actions toggling this function in the software and the command being received by the software to act upon it.
This suggests that you are running a Firewall, VPN or other network affecting program, maybe even an Adblocker.
Could this also cause a lagging program? Absolutely. The software needs unaffected access to its own data files, which are stored locally on your system at all times.
Graphics are poor
vanspace 3D graphics are fantastic when the software is allowed to run correctly. Providing a full-screen example of what you see on the screen allows a quick determination of the full issue, along with the other information requested,
Things to consider
Are you using a second monitor? Is it branded? Is the cable used branded? What resolution is the software being forced to use if a Firewall is blocking the needed information from being read?
