About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

After a distressing choking episode…
After a distressing choking episode with my 14 year old dog we where sent to Vets Now to have him checked over.
When we arrived we waited for no longer than half an hour to be triaged by one of the nurses who checked him over and thankfully he was ok.
Despite the reason for having to attend, I couldn’t say anything negative as the team there are fantastic.
Very expensive but expected
Very expensive but expected - the invoice was incorrect by nearly £400 BUT sorted out immediately on pointing this out & refund issued. The receptionist & vet were both informative & friendly .. my nervous dog was handled with care & sensitivity.
Taking advantage of owners in depositions.
I had to get an emergency appt as my dogs eye went cloudy overnight. I was charged £302 to be referred to another vet, which I then had to pay another £260 for. Vets now charged £96 for eye drops which have a cost price on £15 (I work in pharmacy so know the prices). They initially gave me out of date drops which was rectified. The following day I have to buy more drops from the specialist vet as I hadn’t been given the drops needed, only the ones which they had in stock. The staff were nice but that’s £400 spent on just getting sent to another vet. A refund would be appreciated!

Great with my cat brought into your veterinary surgery and so caring
The service we received was excellent…
The service we received was excellent the only caveat was the cost. Whilst we appreciate the costs associated with operating such a 24 hour service, we would think twice about using it again.
Travelling to Doncaster was a little…
Travelling to Doncaster was a little further than I had hoped however I cannot fault the care and attention I and more importantly my cat received. Fortunately, it turned out to be nothing too serious.
The treatment my pet recieved at…
The treatment my pet recieved at nottingham was very good. We had a long wait due to there being only one vet on duty not two. The receptionists brought us hot drinks as we were there so long due to numerous pets requiring treatment. The main issue was having to drive to nottingham Which took two hours due to a music festival).as there was no nearer vet. We found out that there should have been a vet at the lincoln site but that whilst the nurses arrived there the vet did not turn up so the lincoln clinic didnt operate . Had that issue not happened i would have given full stars as once we were seen we were happy with the vets. However the vet not turning up for their shift caused major issues not just for us but for at least five other pets and their owners. I trust the non arrival of the booked vet will be investigated and that it does not happen again
I had a good experience with the vetsnow.
I had a good experience with the vets. Made me feel my dog was special and did everything they could to find out what was wrong. Tested her all over and blood tests. Put my mind at rest cause I was so concerned about her. Very Happy.

The call centre were friendly and informative, letting us know we needed to wait. The Vet was lovely and took her time and listened to us and ammended our dogs treatment accordingly. The receptionist was friendly as well.
Emergency appointment on Bank holiday
Attended the Stockton-on-Tees Clinic on a bank holiday Monday. Was seen pretty quickly and all the staff were lovely and made a fuss of my poorly dog!
Vet was very thorough and explained everything clearly

Very disappointing service. I have been trying to contact the practice regarding my pet insurance claim for over two weeks. I've sent multiple emails and received no response, and it's almost impossible to get through to anyone by phone.
My insurance company is simply waiting for the practice to complete their section of the claim form, but the lack of communication is causing unnecessary delays.
It's frustrating that they were happy to take my money for treatment, yet now seem completely unreachable when I need their assistance. I expected far better customer service and communication.

This version is strong, professional, and focuses on your experience, which makes it more credible.
meh, i expected better.
The receptionist and the doctors were lovely.
However, this is the first time i've ever had to bring my budgie in for any medical treatment, and he is very small.. i was given two different antibiotics to give three times a day for 5 DAYS!! which is quite a lot. it's incredibly overwhelming for someone who's never had to do this before. I asked the vet if he could do the first dose, so I could watch, and learn how to do it, and he just said no.
pdsa which is a charity, no matter how busy they are has at least taught us how to do it administer medication for the first time.
for that reason I would not recommend.
We used the out of hours service
We used the out of hours service, because our cat was limping and we knew that it had damaged its back leg, the cost of an X-Ray was £400. That was just to confirm a leg breakage when it was not needed, if it had been I would expect a charge of around up to £120 would be reasonabl, but despite the trained staff who I do not doubt their compassion and passion and care could not just advise to take care and see the vets in the morning and make a reasonable assumption from their experience that it was a breakage or simply bruising. It is incredible to see how much vet erinary charges actually are.
Help for a sick puppy...
We are very happy with the service provided by Vets Now when our puppy (5 months) licked a jellyfish and vomited very soon afterward! They answered the phone faster than the local vet line and offered an appointment at 7pm on Bank Holiday Sunday at their nearest clinic. The guy was reassuring and professional- just what we needed!
Why is it my dog always eats a sock out…
Why is it my dog always eats a sock out of hours. Second time using emergency vet’s. Great service and sock retrieved quickly, I’m just £445 lighter! I do think the initial consultation is very steep. Granted some times it can be claimed back on insurance, not everyone has insurance and I didn’t claim for a sock that hadn’t passed the stomach, just in case one day she may need surgery which I pray she doesn’t. But over £300 pounds to walk through the door, wish we could go back to independent vet practices again and it not be about making the corporation richer!
